The width is said to be 127cm wide. Is this measurement taken from the body alone or does it include the external brackets/struts as well.
G'day Sheldon,
We've measured our display, and the width including the brackets/struts is 133cm.
Do the racks on top of the tent come included
G'day Darien,
Yes the roof bars on the top are included with the Saber Super Lite. You can use them to mount solar panels and other accessories.
Are there any self inflating mattresses that will fit this tent?
G'day Beaudi,
All self-inflating mat brands have advised us that their mats are not to be kept inside a packed roof top tent of any kind. Even if the mat remains flat, it can be subject to large temperature fluctuations in a roof top tent over the course of the year which can effect the glue and bondings on the foam.
There have been a few claims on self inflating mats that have bubbled or ballooned out for this reason, and are not covered by warranty.
Ofcourse you can use it in your rooftop tent, but we'd strongly advise removing it for pack up.
The Saber Super Lite is also incredibly slimline in design, so you will have to have an electric pump with you to fully vaccume deflate the mat to shut the roof top between stops if you're touring.
Hi, is the Saber Super Lite water proof? On the description it's not specified. Also what's the total height of it folded includings roof racks and bottom rails? Thanks
G'day Matteo,
It is waterproof, but being a canvas shelter we recommend seasoning it before your first trip in rainy weather.
Not sure what roof rack you have on your vehicle, but fully mounted we'd recommend accounting for an extra 14cm of height.
Hope that helps.
Can the RTT be mounted directly onto pioneer platform rack without the mounting rails, to bring the height down, Just bolted directly down using the holes made for the RTT mounting rail? Have mounted another brand like this, not as slim tho with no issues. Just drilled holes holes in the platform rack, Thanks
G'day Joe,
I'd lean towards no, but we cant say 100% for sure sorry.
I reckon get intouch with 23Zero directly, they'll be able to advise on customer mounting set ups - without the experience, we're abit limited to recommending installation as per the user guide.
Just checking how much extra height the mounting fixtures adds? I have a front runner platform rack on VW multivan. Assuming that there is some flexibility to mount to different racks? Can you post any photos of how the RTT is mounted?
G'day Tim,
Fully mounted will add around 50mm extra height max, so you'd be looking at around 140mm total height above your platform, which includes the roof rails.
You can pretty much mount a roof top tent to any roof rack system - for platfrom racks you do need an extended length fixing bracket.
Unfortunately we dont currently have these instock, but you can get them from 23Zero directly.
Essentially the roof rail or platform rail is sandwiched between the base of the tent, and the bracket, with a screw either side.
Hi I wanted to check the length of the mounting channel and does it go the whole length of the rtt? If not how far from the ends of the tent are they?
G'day Phil,
The singular sail track on the Saber Lite runs the whole way around the roof top tent shell.
This is for hanging storage or other sail track accessories once you're set up at camp, its not load baring, so you're not able to mount anything of significance.
Hope that helps.
Hi, I meant the mounting channel on the bottom of the rtt to mount it to roof racks
G'day again Phil,
My apologies, I misunderstood - the mounting channel is roughly 180cm long and stops just shy of 20cm from each end of the tent base.
Hope that helps!
Can you please confirm the maximum weight for the RTT rack when the tent is open? Ie, can it hold 2-4 surfboards at 10kg?
G'day Daniel,
The Roof Load limit on the Saber Lite is 23Kg, allowing the roof top tent to open.
You can load 2-4 surfboards onto it, but you'll need to remove at least two of them before setting up the tent.
Hi on this (Zero23 Saber Super Lite Hard Shell Roof Top Tent) can you mount any accessories on the side rails ? Like awning
G'day Juno,
No, not on the Super Lite. As the name suggests, this roof top tent has been pared back to the absolute minimum to save weight and pack size.
The trade off is that you can't mount anything like a shower tent or awning. There is sail track that will allow for hanging storage like boot pockets, etc but that's about it.
Is this Saber lite essentially the same product as the American Kabari lite as they look identical? There's bugger all videos on this tent (Saber) and I'm keen to see it.
G'day Yoshi,
For the most part the US versions are largely the same, but we've previously be told there may be some minor differences in materials & features due to the different customer base.
It will give you a bit of an idea at the very least
I’m confused over the approx thickness (height) of the RTT when closed. Do you know this? And are there any other bolts/attachments top and bottom which could make it thicker (and could stop one from parking in underground car parks. Thanks
G'day Simon,
23 Zero has confirmed the total height including the roof rails is 9cm. It is quite a slimline thin design, I would add this to the total height of your car and roof racks, maybe only a couple extra cm when attached to your roof.
How thick is it? And what do you think the viability of replacing it with a thicker self-inflating mattress is, for more comfort? Oh, and naturally… do you guys sell a self-inflating mattress that would fit this tent!?
G'day Grundy,
I have been in contact with 23 Zero and the Mattress in the Saber Super Lite is an engineered dual-density 30mm Mattress. There is also the option to buy a 50mm mattress topper that suits the Super Lite from 23 Zero. This will not be able to be stored in the Tent due to the limited space.
There aren't any suitable self-inflating mattresses that would currently suit due to it's slimline design.
Is an under mattress condensation mat supplied/fitted to this tent
G'day Cam,
The Saber Super Lite isn't supplied with an anti-condensation mat in this tent, I would say it's not included to help reduce the weight and height of the Rooftop tent.
Are you able to leave blanket and pillows in and close up the tent
G'day Kathleen,
Not with the SuperLite - being designed as a super slimline and lightweight option, there's not much space in the shell when the tent is packed up.
You'd be able to leave a sheet on your mattress for sure, but just chuck your pillows and doona in when you set up, and take them out for pack up.
Its pretty common to have a big duffle bag that you can pack your doona and pillows in, easy to throw in the back of the vehicle and carry up the ladder, etc
