With the latest technology and robust construction, the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight camping stove has revolutionised camp cooking with a new burner design and WindBlock pot support that opens up space for larger pots.
The FyreKnight is hot and cooks fast making it perfect for boiling water or cooking over high heat, and it's easy to clean thanks to removable pan supports. The Coleman SwapTop system that enables a combination of cooking surfaces to be used on the stove at the same time. It also has a tough high-performance design with heavy-duty latch and a pivoting handle for comfortable carrying. The corners feature shock-absorbing bumpers and each burner can be independently adjusted for ultimate flame control with a total output of 24,000 BTU’s.
The FyreKnight portable gas stove is made to deliver a reliable cooking solution wherever you set up camp.
Has any one sorted out how to stop the high pitched squeal when you put a pot on the burner
G'day Paul,
It's not an issues I've heard of with the stove specifically - its usually related to an issue in the base of the pot.
Have you tested out a range of different cookwear to eliminate that element of things?
If you have and the noise happens with all cookwear, head to our Warranty Page and fill out a claim for the team to look into further.
Are Companion Propane catridges compatible with the Coleman stoves
G'day Joel,
Yep, the Coleman stoves work with a BOM fitting, which these bottles have.
Hope that helps!
Can you use this stove by connecting to the camper trailer's gas system via a bayonet adapter (https://www.outbackequipment.com.au/male-bayonet-fitting-1-4in-bspm), to the female bayonet connection installed to the trailer? I am asking because I know the camper trailer gas system has a regulator, and stove has a Coleman specific regulator as well. Thanks.
G'day Murat,
No, you can't. This is a very common question, the Coleman regulators are specifically rated to the Coleman stoves, and cannot be swapped out for a generic alternative. They must be used with the Coleman regulator arm only.
Does this stove have flame failure cut off
G'day Kaz,
The Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Stoves do not have a flame failure cut-off. So if the flame has been extinguished for any reason the gas will continue to flow.
Can I leave it outside indefinitely and use it as a permanent outdoor stove?
G'day Mary,
No, you cant. The Hyperflame stove is designed as a camping stove which is generally exposed to the elements periodically.
If you had a sheltered or undercover area like a pergola or patio where the stove is technically outside but not exposed to the weather, then you should be ok. It's not uncommon to hear of people having a Coleman stove for 10 years, but that is with general camping use. We cant really speak to how long a lifespan it would have with fulltime use.
Hi. Can you please confirm whether the companion bottles work with the regulator on these? I haven't had much luck and I'm not the only one. Are there any other options besides Companion if not? Coleman don't seem to make bottles anymore.
G'day Jarrah,
Yep, the Coleman stoves work with a BOM fitting, which those Companion bottles have.
Hope that helps!
Hi Lauren. Thanks for clearing that up. For others, you need to check the Companion bottle threads aren't poorly machined or damaged and that they aren't clogged with green paint, as this was what caused issues for me.
We do get the very occasional report from customers who have had issues but statistically given the huge volume of these that we sell, its uncommon. As with all gas appliances, regardless of whether you use these, LPG cyclinders, or butane, you should be performing gas safety checks to ensure you have a good connection and there are no leaks.
If you do happen to have a cannister that isnt working, contact our Warranty team.
will this work using butane?ty
G'day Mark,
Not it won't sorry, this is a LPG stove that will work with either refillable gas bottles, or smaller single use Propane bottles.
Are the hoses for Coleman hyper flame and Coleman triton gas stoves the same
G'day Bryan,
Yes, Coleman hoses connect to the BOM fitting on the Coleman regulator, to a 3/8th BSP gas bottle.
Hope that helps.
Is this stove compatible with normal LPG gas bottles, that are refillable? Is there a converter for it?
G'day Owen,
These stoves come with a 3/8th BSP hose to connect to 3/8th BSP gas bottles.
That type of LPG cylinder is refillable, generally through some camping stores or Bunnings/local hardwares stores.
What is the main difference between the two Hyperflame models?
G'day Mark,
Theres very little different ultimately...The FyreCadet has slight lower BTU, and the FyreKnight is designed as abit more robust in the body.
Was comparing this to the Zempire 2 burner, but this one looks like it may have more insulation against radiating heat downwards underneath itself. I wanted to cook it on top of a Coleman 4ft fold in half table without warping or melting the table. Can you advise if this would be ok or required a wooden cutting board or something else to protect the table?
G'day Tim,
We'd generally recommend putting something under any camping stove we sell when using on a plastic table top, just to be on the safe side.
Majority of stoves will have the same basic insulation in accordance with AGA guidelines, but I think it's safe to say the higher the BTU the hotter the stove will be.
Often a couple of teatowels smoothed out underneath the stove will be enough to disperse the heat, but it is recommended to cook on a non-plastic surface table.
Could you use the grill plate over one of the burners as a simmer plate and put a pan on top of it to simmer?
G'day Nola,
We've not actually tried putting a saucepan on a hotplate on a stovetop, so can't really comment on how functional that would be.
We can say that the Hyperflame series is a super-powerful, high heat stove, so is not ideal for simmering in general.
If you're wanting a simmering stove, best bet is to look at alternatives.
Buy a diffuser to sit on top when u want to simmer, also very handy to place coffee pot or anything with a smaller base that needs balancing .
What is the area around the burners made out of? What is the steel coated with and how hard wearing is it? Competitors products appear to be stainless or enamel.
G'day Ryan,
We've heard back from the Coleman Design team, and they've confirmed the WindBlock Pot Supports are made from Cold Rolled Steel with Ni Chrome plating.
As far as we are aware these are super hard-wearing, we haven't had any complaints about them so far.
Hi, will wind effect this model as much? I have a coleman Triton model but with a little bit of wind thr efficiency drops a long way off and is nearly impossible to cook anything
G'day Andrew,
None of the team here with me actually have this stove, so I've had to rely on the real-life feedback from customers in the review section for this one.
On all accounts, it would seem that the WindBlock technology on the pot mounts does this trick, and this stove is generally unaffected by wind.
Its also important to note though, that a big contributing factor to this is the overall output of the stove. Because the BTU is so high and it's quite powerful, there's not much opportunity for wind to reduce the heat.
The trade-off on this is that you cant really simmer or cook at low temperatures. This is a trade-off with camping stoves generally though, none are designed to simmer, but its a big factor for the HyperFlame series.
This is a great stove option for a family who may have larger volume pots a pans to cook bigger batches of food or larger quantities of water to boil.
Hope that helps!
Hi, What is the minimum diameter pot that will fit on the burner without tipping over?
G'day Scott,
The internal gap on the pot trivets are 8cm, so we'd recommend a minimum pot diameter of around 12-15cm so that your pot will be stable on top of the burner.
Total width with the regulator connected but no gas bottle connected
G'day Steve,
I've just measured this for you or our display stove, and the total width of the Hyperflame FyreKnight including the regulator's arm is 78cm.
Hope this helps!
Is this powerful enough to use a wok for high heat stir fries?
G'day Anna,
The Hyperflame Fyreknight packs a fair amount of heat, so we're confident you'll be able to stir-fry with no worries at all. Just be sure to use a flat-bottom wok so it sits securely over the burner.
Would like the hose to reach the gas bottles on the camper, without having to remove them. Is it possible to safely extend the hose another couple of feet?
G'day Alexis,
There is no way to safely extend these hoses sorry. The hose is 1.5m long, and unfortunately, the unit won't effectively operate with a longer hose.
I'm planning to build a camp kitchen and want to have a FyreKnight but the way that angled regulator hangs out bothers me that I'll be losing a lot of space ... want it to be as compact as possible.
G'day Darren,
Unfortunately not, the only way to run these stoves is via the supplied angled regulator arm.
I want to keep using the disposable bottles but is there any way to fit a flexible hose as opposed to the angled hard pipe that comes with the unit?
G'day Gregg,
The HyperFlame stoves need to be used with the regulator arm, so while you can use the included hose to attach it to a larger refillable LPG cylinder, the regulator arm still needs to remain in place.
Does this come in a single burner configuration?
G'day Russ,
The FyreKnight stove comes in just the one size, which has two burners.
Trying to understand how much heat the stove generates out the bottom in use. I am looking at putting it on a drop down plastic table with some form of insulated pad (alloy, timber etc)
G'day Russ,
There are some small feet underneath the FyreKnight stove to provide an bit of a gap between the hot stove base and the table surface you're using. In general, we'd avoid using these on plastic surfaces, but if so, then timber would be a good option for heat insulation.
Which stand/table is best for Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight?
G'day Marg,
The Campfire Stove Stand is the one used in the Fyreknight video, so that is a good option. The other popular stand we carry is the Easy As Stove Stand, it folds a little differently, but is also a popular stand for this stove.
I just bought the carry bag and hotplate and was trying to pack it all away but I don't seem to be able to find a position for the regulator in the stove compartment. There is a hole centre rear which the bent arm of the regulator fits down but I don't seem to be able to find a position it will sit so as to close the lid (with the hotplate) I did figure how to position the pan support on the burner though. Any tips for the regulator?
G'day Brad,
We'd suggest popping the regulator arm inside the stove before you shut the lid. Just tucked between the top potholders.
Hi, How long is the supplied gas hose?
G'day Harald,
The hose that comes with the stove is 1.5m long.
Im looking to fit this into a sliding draw with a 80 of approx 80mm. Im thinking about getting this and simply detaching the lid
G'day Liam,
The height of the stove, minus the lid is about 10cm to the top of the 'windblock' pan supports.
Hi, Just purchased the stove, does the black hose provided attach to the provided regulator and then fit directly into a 9kg gas bottle? Or will I need the adaptor connection for it to fit. Thanks
G'day Conor,
To use this stove with a 9kg gas bottle with a POL fitting, you will need a POL to 3/8" BSP adaptor which you can check out here. Hope that helps Conor.
Hi Can we connect straight to our refillable LPG 2.kg bottlewith 3/8 fitting
G'day Adrian,
Yes, the Fyreknight is supplied with a hose that will connect the small regulator arm on the back of the stove straight to your 2kg bottle that has the 3/8 valve on the top.
Is there a heat defuser you can buy for burners as they burn a mile to hot even when turned right down for bbq plate
G'day Ian,
There isn't a specific product that we sell for the FyreKnight to reduce the heat output, but we'd say you should be able to pick up something suitable from a homewares type store.
Hi, I have used successfully a heat diffuser that I purchased from a kitchen store. I have seen what looks very similaronline an OZPIG heat diffuser.
Great to hear Trisha, thanks for the feedback :)
how long it takes to boil 500ml of water
G'day Brad,
We'd say you'll be waiting up to five minutes for 500ml of water to boil on this stove, it obviously depends on the weather conditions.
Hi amazing Snowys team! You guys sure do a top job answering all these questions! Here’s a quick one from me that doesn’t seemed to be answered yet. I love a hot flame. Who doesn’t? I also love a medium flame. Plus, I really love a low flame to simmer over. So my question is: Is this the stove for me? I worry because the description seems to imply this stove cooks and both hot and super hot settings only. If this isn’t the stove for me, can you please point me in the direction of a powerful stove with fine control over temperature setting? Thanks for being so bloody awesome. Your pal, Ant.
G'day Ant,
Based on our customer reviews the FyreKnight is pretty good for low heat, but a little borderline for a low simmer. To be honest it probably depends on what you're cooking and what type of pot/pan you're using. This is probably one of the best models for heat variation that we currently sell, most of the other high output stoves aren't so great with the low heat function.
Had problems with ours simmering but fixed it. Search YouTube for hyperflame grease simmer. You basically remove the gas knobs and clean the grease off the spindle. Super easy and takes 10 minutes.
do u stock a 2 burner Coleman hyperflame fyreknight camping stove hose to fit a motor home gas point on side of van or adaptor
G'day Terry,
Unfortunately the Hyperflame FyreKnight Camping Stove won't work with your motor home gas system. Your motohome will be running a regulated low pressure system, but this stove is a high-pressure system. We'd suggest giving us a call and we can chat through some options.
With the disposable LPG bottle connected. Outdoor Connection Easy As Stand
G'day Janice,
The HyperFlame FyreKnight will fit on the Easy As Stove stand however stove will overhang the depth of the table a little. The disposable gas bottle should just fit too but we'd probably recommend a slightly larger table.
How can you get to the burners for easy cleaning
G'day Jose,
You can remove the pot supports from this stove to clean in/around the burners. If food falls down in between the burner and the drip tray then you can remove the whole top section using a small
Can you please tell me eactly what connection I would need to connect this stove to a LPG bottle
G'day Jenny,
Thanks for your enquiry! The Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove is compatible with 453g disposable LPG bottles and comes included with a gas hose for 3/8BSP cylinders but you'll need an adapter if you have a 9kg
Going camping as a family of 5 for three nifgts
G'day Jenny,
Thanks for your enquiry. If you're using the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove with both burners on high, you'll get about an hour and a half of cooking time using one 453g LPG bottle. We would recommend taking a larger bottle if there's 5 of you camping for 3 nights.
I have this stove. Last weekend I had [best guess] 2/3 of a small disposable bottle remaining for a 2 nights and 10 people camp out with a spare bottle just in case; but didn't use. Day1: Lunch, 20 sausages on the long cast iron grill (about 15 mins). Heated water kettle for teas (3 x 5 minutes). Dinner, reheated a 4.5l beef stroganoff in a heavy cast iron pot (about 15 mins). Day2: Lunch, 24 sausages on the long cast iron grill (about 15 mins). Heated water kettle and milk pot for teas and coffees (4 x 5 minutes) Dinner, 15 sizzle steaks (15 minutes). Day 3: Breakfast, 12 fried eggs on the long cast iron grill to go with bacon cooked on open fire (about 25 mins). Heated water kettle and milk pot for teas and coffees (3 x 5 minutes) It literally spluttered and died at the end of the last kettle boil, but I'm impressed with how long they last.
How big is the gap on the top of the burner, above the flame? Would like to make coffee on the cooker amd thinking the small pot might fall through without another attachment?
G'day Kate,
I've just measured the gap on the top of the burner for you, it's 8cm across.
can you use the stove indoors or is there CO danger
G'day Annie,
The Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove is not designed for indoor use. All LPG stoves are designed for outdoor use due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Can you confirm the measurements? I’ve read conflicting widths for the unit, and it needs to rot on a drop down table so there’s only a certain space available....
G'day Simon,
I've been down and measured the Fyreknight for you, without looking at the size we have listed, and I got exactly the same numbers. 62cm wide, 36cm deep and 13.5cm high.
A couple of things worth taking into consideration though. When the lid is open the stove is more like 45cm deep, and the big one would be the regulator. This sticks out the right-hand side of the stove quite a way. You can see it in the images above connected to a disposable Coleman canister but it can also be connected via a hose to
Hi. I notice there’s a hotplate available. Can it store inside the case when travelling? (Ie left on), Would it rattle if done so (4WDing)?
G'day Simon,
I've been down to the shop floor to try this out for you and I can confirm that the Coleman Hyperflame Full Griddle and Grease Cup can fit inside the stove when the lid is closed (not the grease cup though). It does rattle a little bit, but I think you'd be fine to transport it like this. I'd probably be inclined to stick a tea towel in there as well just to help prevent any excessive rubbing.
Is the BBQ plate displayed in images come with the BBQ? If not, what is the best plate to purchase and what's the additional cost?
G'day Coralie,
The Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove doesn't come with a BBQ Plate, however, we do sell one separately, you can find the
Hi, do alternative hot plates exist for this stove? I have one, and the coleman plate with grease cup for this stove is terrible and cracks during use. I've gone through two of them previously and simply gave up on it. Are there alternatives?
G'day Lloyd,
The Coleman hotplate has always struck me as a bit thin. I've tried out the Campfire 3 Burner Hotplate on the Hyperflame Fyreknight and it fits fine. Being thicker I'd expect it to be stronger and to spread the heat a bit more evenly. I've got the 2 burner version and I've had no trouble at all with it.
Do you have control knob replacement parts - we have found the plastic gas worn on the brass insert and no longer engages. Would also be interested to know if you have the wind lock pan supports - these have rusted rapidly.
G'day Leslie,
We can get replacement control knobs and burner ring supports for the Hyperflame stoves. The part number for the knobs is 1219957 and they currently retail for $9.90 a pair. The part number for the support rings is 1398510 and they currently retail for $24.90 each. We'd need to order them in for you so just shoot us an email at service@snowys.com.au and quote these part numbers.
G'day Leslie,
The control knobs I've quoted above are a generic style but I've just been told we can get the 'proper' Hyperflame knobs. They're a bit cheaper (currently $2.90 each) and you can quote Snowys code 143261.
Are you able to lay the lid flat on ether the Night or Cadet? i have a 19" pan i use and with the lid it wouldn't fit.
G'day Brett,
The lids on both of these stoves can't be folded flat sorry mate. Coleman suggests the biggest pans you'll fit on the
I don’t know much about gas bottles etc. I have a regular sized gas bottle (the kind you swap and go at the servo). Would this cooker work with that? Do I need any kind of adapter?
G'day CM,
It sounds like you have a gas cylinder with a POL fitting which means you will need an adapter to use the Coleman FyreKnight Camping Stove. You can fit the adapter here: https://www.snowys.com.au/gas-cylinder-adapter-pol-38-bsp-lh-straight
G'day Navi,
Yes, the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove can be used with an LPG cylinder, it comes with a hose that will connect to a 3/8" BSP fitting.
Saw you answer which stated reg can be moved to LH side. I had a look and it looks like the taps and burners would have to be disconnected from the knobs and removed, the Igniter switch and wiring also relocated to the RH side. Then the piping for the regulator flipped over to exit on the LH side. Am I correct, or is there an easier way to exit the LH side. Its a REAL pain coming out at that 45degree angle. Also, if I take the burners off the Taps, is there a sealer required when re-attaching?
G'day Nev,
Sorry for the confusion with this one. I just want to clarify what we meant when we said that the regulator hose can be moved from the left to right-hand side. The regulator swivels on the end, so standing side on to the stove, you can move it either left or right (towards the front or back of the stove). The regulator on the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove can't be taken over to the other side of the stove.
Have been reading some reviews, about the burners are good but are difficult to control, any thoughts
G'day Gary,
If you're after simmer control for gourmet cooking, the FyreKnight isn't the ideal choice, but if you want a stove that boils water really quickly, for example, this will do the job really well.
Alternatively, you can take a look at the Companion 2 Burner High Output Stove which gets great feedback on simmer control from other customers. I hope this helps Gary.
Hello, I was just wondering if there is an option to replace the regulator that comes with the stove with an all in one hose and regulator set up? I find that the metal arm regulator that comes with the stove is a little cumbersome and I would prefer a hose that connects straight into the stove.
G'day Tysen,
Unfortunately, you do need to go through the regulator on the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove, the valve isn't a standard hose size on the other side of the regulator arm.
I bought the FyreKnight in 2016 and last weekend tried to use the stove while camping. The regulator is constantly leaking gas from the hole in the top (on the black part of the regulator). Do you sell replacement parts? The regulator is a sealed unit, so assume it can't be repaired.
G'day David,
We do sell spare regulator arms for the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove. We don't have them online at the moment but if you'd like to give us a buzz on 1300 914 007, one of our friendly customer service ninjas will be able to help you out.
From the stove's right side, a metal pipe connects at 90 degrees, which then has a slight bend so that the regulator and pipework sits in the middle of the table to your right. Is it possible to bend the metal portion of the pipe to 90 degrees, so that the regulator ends up behind the stove and out of the way?
G'day Antonie,
I've just had a look at the display model, and you can move the regulator on the Hyperflame Stove to the right or left side where you want it.
G'day Antonie,
I'm just clearing up some confusion about your question. The regulator can't be removed and taken over to the opposite side of the Coleman HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove, it just swivels front to back on the side of the stove. What we meant by saying that it can be moved from the left to the right was in relation to standing side on to the stove and swivelling it.
And what other connection will it need to connect to 9kg lpg? Thanks
G'day Mark,
The Coleman Hyperflame FyreKnight Stove hose length is 1.5m. To connect the stove to a 9kg POL fitting gas bottle, you'll require a 3/8" to POL adapter which you can find here.
Hi. Sorry if this sounds silly, but I am assuming to use a 3/8 LPG gas bottle you just connect the included hose to the regulator which then sits in the stove? That's the only way the fittings go together but just wanted to check I don't need any extra parts. The instructions don't specify. Thanks.
G'day Rachael,
You won't need to purchase any extra parts to use this stove with a 3/8" fitted bottle, the way it works it you connect the regulator to the stove, then you attach the hose to the regulator, and then attach the hose to the gas bottle.
It can be a little confusing, as the Coleman stoves are a bit different to other brands - I hope that made sense, do let us know if you have any other questions.
What would happen if it got rained on? Would it be ok or ruined?
G’day Greg,
We wouldn’t recommend leaving your stove out in the rain, it would likely still be usable, but this stove is not meant to be soaked in water repeatedly so it would rust eventually.
We’d suggest that you close the lid of the stove and store it away, or alternatively leave it under some shelter if it’s going to rain overnight.
I assume the 3/8 hose and fittings connect to the Swap n Go gas bottles
G'day Rob,
I’ve looked into this for you, and unfortunately the hose for the Hyperflame isn't sold separately.
Swap’n’go bottles use a POL fitting generally (but you should double check just in case) so if that is the case you may need an adaptor like this one here.
Hi, Is there a stand that's suitable for this stove?
G'day Karen,Â
I've just checked with the display models in store, and I've found that the best fit (from our range) for the HyperFlame FyreKnight Camping Stove is the Zempire Stove Stand, which you can check out online here. It's not going to be ideal as it is slightly too small but unfortunately Coleman don't make a compatible one for the Hyperflame.Â
Can you buy a stand for this stove ? Or is there another brand that it would fit in?
Hi Karen, we don't have a stove stand specifically designed for this stove unfortunately! We do stock the Zempire Stove Stand, but it's a touch on the small side - you could fit this Coleman stove on top but it would sit only on the four corners, so wouldn't really have a lot of support. There may be others on the market that are bigger and would be a better fit!Â
When the lid is open for cooking, does something stop the top/rear wind shield from closing due to wind?
G'day Tyler,Â
It sure does - the HypoerFlame FyreKnight has a lid support mechanism on one side that folds out to keep the top open when you're cooking.Â
when connected to the companion gas bottle the gas leaks . when you place your finger over the hole on the connection the gas works better
Hi Victoria,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your stove! We'd like to have a chat with you to get a bit more information so we can work out what's going on here, could you please give us a call on 1300 914 007 - or e-mail us your details at service@snowys.com.au and we'll be in touch.Â
G'day Ben,
I'm assuming you're referring to the small hole at the end of the black knob on the regulator? And is it a steady flow of gas or just periodic spurts of gas?
If it is what I think it is, that hole is a release valve and if gas is coming through that hole, there is something not right with your gas set up. I'd advise against covering the hole as this will only increase the risk of danger.
We're keen to help and get this issue resolved, could you please give us a call on 1300 914 007 - or e-mail us your details at service@snowys.com.au and we'll be in touch. We're very sorry for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately, it may be that it is too difficult to diagnose the issue without seeing the equipment as there is a range of issues that might be occurring. In the worst case, it may need to be investigated by a gas specialist to determine the issue.
Would you recommend the fyreknight or the fyrecadet for a family of 4? Also thinking of getting the hot plate too, does it work just as well with the hot plate on it ?
G'day Karen,Â
I'd say that either stove is going to be a good option for a family of four. the HyperFlame FyreKnight is slightly more powerful at 12000 BTU per burner versus 11000 BTU for the FyreCadet, but in practice, there isn’t much of a difference so you could choose either one. Â
The hot plate works the same as a frying pan, so it won't make the stove less effective. The only difference is that it will give you the space to cook lots of things at once - so it's great for a barbeque!Â
