Hi. Is there a hose available to connect this stive to th fas bayonet on my balcony?
G'day Daina,
No there isn't, this stove requires a different regulator to standard bayonet fittings, so cannot be run for a domestic bayonet fitting source.
Can this be used indoors? I'm looking for a cooking option for emergencies.
G'day Kate,
We probably would not recommend using in a confined space indoors. Just keep in mind that carbon dioxide is a by product of burning propane. If you are in a large, well ventilated area indoors you should be ok. If you are not sure, it is better to err on the side of caution.
Hi Will my companion 2 burner high output stove hose run this stove
G'day John,
I've checked in with Companion on this one and you shouldn't have any issues using your 2 Burner High Output stove hose with this one.
Hi there - just wondering the specific product that I would purchase to use as an extension hose from the inlet arm to the propane bottle? Thanks
G'day Michael,
There are extension hoses that allow you to connect to other LPG gas bottles, such as a POL or 3/8th BSP fitting, but I'm not aware of any hoses that just allow you to have the disposable Propane canister further away.
Im not sure if you'd be able to track one down, but if it helps, the fitting on these disposable Propane canisters is BOM.
Just want to use this for boiling a kettle, will it take a long time to boil or should I look at other options?
G'day Coll,
Propane is essentially the same as LPG, and with the 5000 BTU burner, you shouldn't be waiting too long for a cuppa!
It's the other style butane stoves that can be more temperamental with boil time, depending on the ambient temperature, as that particular gas is sensitive to cold.
Is it possible to use a flexible hose instead of the fixed inlet arm so the canister is out of the way?
G'day Greg,
Unfortunately not. The "inlet arm" you refer to on the Companion Propane Single Stove is actually a fixed regulator. This regulator is designed specifically for the 2 propane stove models (single/double) so it cannot be bypassed, or replaced with an alternative regulator hose.
As an addition to this you can actually attach a hose to the regulator arm if you want to use an LPG bottle or sit your gas bottle on the ground or out of the way.
Does this unit allow reasonable control of temperature? I find most camping stoves tend to go either full power or off, regardless of how sensitive you are with the dial
G'day Joe,
These are pretty new to us, so we don't have any customer reviews as yet, but Ben has had a play with them and filmed a video so it's worth having a look at that. These stoves appear to have fairly good temperature control, so you should be able to get it right down to a simmer, or up higher for a rapid boil without too much of a hassle.
Does it work with those commonly available, disposable butane gas cans; the type that are used with those burners that come in what looks like a plastic briefcase?
G'day Chris,
These stoves run from Propane, so they're a little different to the butane style briefcase stoves. You'll need a Propane canister, like this Coleman one, you can pick these up from all camping stores, and some hardware stores and roadhouses.
The product description says the unit can be run from a canister and a bottle. Do you need to buy a separate cable to run from a 2 kg bottle ?
G'day Adrian,
Yes, this stove can run from either source of gas. If you were wanting to use a 2kg gas bottle it will more than likely have a 3/8" fitting. You'll need to purchase a Coleman BOM/UNEF to 3/8" hose which will allow you to connect from the Coleman regulator to the 2kg gas bottle. You can find the link to our website HERE.
