If your regular lighter doesn’t cut it, then consider adding the Piezo Igniter from MSR to your stash.
The Piezo Igniter will reliably light most canister stoves, at the push of a button. The element inside this lighter is protected by the tube which makes it more reliable than stove mounted igniters. The tube will also collect a little bit of gas around the element to help it along.
Constructed from ABS plastic and steel, this compact lighter only weighs a measly 10g, so it makes for a welcome addition to your lightweight kitchen set up.

Think I know the answer but1 answer
Would this spark be enough for dry grass ( to start a fire )
drew - Bakewell (4 years ago)
G'day Drew,
It is highly unlikely that you'd be able to get dry grass to catch with the piezo igniter. It's not impossible, as we know from fires that start from sparks under extreme conditions but is highly unlikely, and this product isn't a good option if you're needing to be able to start a fire for cooking/comfort.

Can these be refilled?1 answer
yeah
Andrew - Miepoll(4 years ago)
G'day Andrew,
The Piezo Igniter doesn't contain anything other than a sparking mechanism, so there isn't anything to refill.

can these light alcohol burners?1 answer
i know these are used for gas canister stoves - but can they also be used to light alcohol based stoves as well e.g. Trangia burners??
ruth - golden grove(7 years ago)
G'day Ruth,
While none of us have tried to light an alcohol burner with a MSR Piezo Igniter, we doubt that it would be capable of doing so as it only produces a tiny spark for lighting gas. We recommend sticking to matches or a lighter.
