Nikwax started as a commercial product in London back in 1977. It was a wax designed to make boots waterproof without softening the leather and causing the shoe to lose its supportive properties.
This first batch of wax was mixed by founder Nick Brown in an old urn atop a Primus stove with materials purchased from a local hardware store. It wasn't long before the wax was being sold internationally and Nick moved his sights to create waterproofing products for outdoor garments.
Nowadays the Nikwax range consists of cleaning solutions, waterproofing agents and treatments for clothing, gear and equipment across a multitude of industries. Nikwax products are designed to prolong the life and enhance the performance of outdoor gear and clothing, so if you've got gear you've invested your hard earned money in, make sure you look after it with Nikwax.
