If you and your partner in crime are ready to take touring to an entirely new level of ease and luxury, then the Darche AD 1400 Swag is going to be a real game changer. When it comes to swags, Darche sure know what they’re doing so it’s only natural they would come up with a swag that can be set up in a mere 20 seconds.
The inflatable poles in the AD are made from puncture resistant TPU covered by durable PE pole sleeves for an extra level of protection. To set it up, you just hook it up to the high capacity hand pump, and in less than half a minute you’ll be all set to snooze. Made from Darche’s high quality proofed canvas that’s seam sealed to prevent leaks, and featuring storm covers, and a reinforced PVC floor - this swag will keep you dry and protected from the elements.
With a full zip down head and foot windows with mesh, you can get plenty of fresh air circulating. The 50mm cotton covered mattress will keep you in luxurious comfort, and with an entry point on each side, so you can exit this shelter with ease. For minimal effort with maximum impact, the Darche AD 1400 swag is the way to go for your next touring expedition.

Hi Kayla, Thanks for your earlier reply; the reason I asked us that in a reply from Lauren yo another gentleman asking a question about a mattress upgrade, she mentioned that Darche 1400 swags will have a 70mm mattress as standard from now on. I am about to place an order for a 1400 Darche air swag next week and looking to add another mattress inside the swag for more comfort.
Hi there, just to confirm that the current supply of the Darche air -volution AD 1400 swag comes with a 70mm mattress replacing the standard 50mm ?
G'day Rod,
The current stock of the Air-Volution swags all come with the 50mm High-Density Foam Mattress, you have to purchase the 70mm mattress separately at this stage.
Hi there, are there straps or? To attach the Darche 1400 air-volution to the Darche 1400 stretcher?
G'day Rod,
The 1400 Swag will sit on top of the stretcher without straps to attach it. The swag's guy ropes will need to be used to ensure the swag stays nicely tensioned and stable on top of the stretcher.
Hello. According to the specifications the sleeping area is 1300mm wide. Is this the actual internal width, or the mattress width? I ask because I would like to use my 1400mm air mattress in this swag and need to know if it will fit.
G'day Reuben,
1400 wide mattresses are compatible with 1400 wide swags generally. There may be a small discrepancy with measurements, but you shouldn't have any trouble.
Hi, would other awning poles brands be compatible with this swag, or do you have to purchase the Darche brand poles?
G'day Melanie,
Generally, swag awning poles are interchangeable between brands.
Hope that helps!
Can punctures in the airpoles be fixed?
G'day Luke,
Yes, you'd be able to patch them if something came up mid-trip, but we'd recommend replacing the tube when you get a chance. These are available through Darche directly.
I've never used a swag but I'm quite attracted to this particular one. Also I'm a bit sick of crawling on my hands and knees to enter a small tent. Does one normally enter this type of swag by just stepping straight onto the mat (in socked feet) and then kneeling down to zip it up? Also if there was any chance of rain, would you probably have to rig up a tarp before bed to prevent letting water into the swag on exiting?
G'day Susan,
Generally, you'd get in a swag just as you've stated. In rainy weather you could either pitch the swag under a tarp shelter, or do the quick open and jump in/out. It can be a bit of a gamble in wet weather, but lots of people will set up their swag under a side awning or tarp shelter to reduce the likelihood of getting water in your swag when you enter/exit in the rain.
Is there eyelets to allow the use of a centre pole
G'day Wayne,
There is no way to attach a centre pole to this swag due to the way it has been designed. If the swag is adequately inflated and pegged out there shouldn't be a need for a centre pole.
How waterproof is this? And leak resistant? I live In a high rainfall area is all
G'day Syd,
Canvas as a material is waterproof when it is under tension. As long as the swag is seasoned when new then the stitch holes will seal up and stop any water seeping in through the seams.
Would to people be able to share this comfortably or?
G'day Syd,
Yes the AD 1400 is a double swag and has been designed for two people to share. A standard double bed is around 140cm wide, so if you're used to a Queen or Larger, then maybe you'll find it a little squeezy.
Can the swag be inflated by a vehicle compressor instead of the hand pump?
G'day Joel,
The fitting on the Air-Volution Swags won't work with an air compressor, so you'll be best sticking to the hand pump.
I would like to get this swag but add the thicker mattress instead, is this an option and if so how much will it cost in total?
This swag isn't available in the BYOS range unfortunately, Tash, it comes all as one kit rather than separate components.
You can still upgrade the mattress, but you'd have to buy the swag with original mattress plus the upgraded mattress. Sorry.
I'm just wondering if the sides sag in like some other swags of this design and size do?
G'day Nick,
As far as I understand, we've not received any feedback that suggests the sides of the Air-Volution AD Swag sag in, however, it's possible this may happen as there's no centre dome pole to support the canvas on the sides.
No sags even under torrential rain
Whats the durability of the air blader. Only 2 year warranty, where all other swags have lifetime?
G'day Mark,
That's a tough one to answer as durability often depends on the amount of usage. I did a quick search through our repair/warranties system and I can't find any details of customers having trouble with the bladders. We had one chap that had a problem with a part in the valve and it looks like Darche sent a replacement out to him, but that's it. Whilst other swags might have longer warranties, the warranty won't always cover broken poles as it depends on how the breakage occurred.
Hi, Darche has this listed as having 320gsm canvas? Is there a second or third generation of this swag?
G'day Jason,
I've just looked into this for you, and as far as we know there isn't a second generation of this swag model.
I'll make sure that we change the specs on our website to match Darche (320gsm) - so thanks for giving us a heads up, and apologies for the mix-up.
is there a stretcher for this Air-Voution
G'day Charl,
Because the Darche Air-Volution AD 1400 Swag is so wide, there aren't any ideal solutions for a stretcher for them. All of the single stretchers would be too small and whilst a double would work, you'd be looking at having a pole down the middle of your swag.
I have an OZtrail Anywhere Bed Queen. If I retired it and not put the air bed on, is it practical that I put this swag on the frame of the bed?
G'day Justin,
Theoretically, you could use the Queen Anywhere Bed with the AD1400 model, it's not something we've ever tried here, but it could work, I'm just not sure it would be overly comfortable.
Is it possible to inflate this without the pump it comes with? As in inflating with your mouth?
G'day Ben,
Unfortunately not, as your mouth won't be able to generate the approx 7 PSI pressure required.
Any chance you could do a set up video/review on this swag? Cheers.
G'day Chris,
Thanks for the request of a product video on the Darche Air-Volution™ AD 1400 Swag. Product videos are quite new for us and we already have a bit of a request list to get through at the moment, but we'll definitely add the swag on and get it done ASAP.
