The largest tent in the Skygazer series from OZtrail, the Skygazer 6XV is an easy pitch dome tent that provides lots of headroom without the excess footprint. Perfect for sheltering you and a few mates or a family at a festival, or on a weekend away.
With a polyester inner and No-See-Um mesh windows, you can ventilate your shelter while also keeping insects at bay. If you need more airflow, you can also just roll back the fly to prevent stuffiness. The heavy-duty bucket floor has elevated seams to prevent leaks, and the fly has a silver coating to reflect heat and provide a barrier if the weather is wet.
The extra head height inside the tent makes it more spacious, and the easy step D door makes getting in and out super simple. This tent features a longer vestibule for more storage and a PE groundsheet which allow you to create more space inside the tent. There’s also a detachable bedroom in the front of the vestibule so you can have more sleeping room.
If you need an affordable or beginner’s dome tent for a small group or family, then the Skygazer 6XV from OZtrail is the easy choice.
The information image says it is for 3 people yet your website lists it as being for 6. Can you confirm if it is 3 or 6?

G'day Julian,
The person count for a tent size is determined by how many people could lay on the total floor space of the tent, top and tail, without mattresses. It's literally just a body count, and is the traditional way of determining tent size used by all brands throughout the industry.
How many people you will realistically be able to fit in a tent depends on your sleep systems, eg. mattress sizes, and how you would like to use the tent. The sleeping area dimensions are provided online, and you can use these to decide if the tent is large enough for your purposes.

Attachable front room - ventilation1 answer
What is the attachable/ optional front room made of? Does it have ventilation? From the picture it looks like a white curtain - with no netting.
Katy - Enmore(5 years ago)
G'day Katy,
The front vestibule area has a polyethene floor, and the fly material is a polyester material. The front area isn't a sealed unit so if the side doors or front are opened up there will be great airflow.

Ventilation1 answer
Does this tent have any permanent ventilation features, so that when it's all zipped up to protect from rain, it can still ventilate?
And do you have to go out (e.g. in the pouring rain) to lower / zip the fly or can it be done from inside?
Gabi - Heidelberg Heights(6 years ago)
G'day Gabi,
When all zipped up there isn't really any official ventilation features however being a tent, some ventilation will naturally occur. To zip up the fly from inside the tent you'd need to unzip the mesh screen to gain access to the fly and then rezip once the fly is secured. Depending on how heavily it was raining and how fast you could act, would depend on how damp you became in the process ;)

Storm proof? 1 answer
Hi Snowys, How much wind and rain can this tent handle? I'm most concerned about the fibreglass poles, but the water resistance of the fly is also important.
Gabi - Heidelberg Heights(6 years ago)
G'day Gabi,
It's hard to give a specific weather rating on a tent, but I can confirm that the Waterhead rating on the Skygazer 6XV is 2000mm. This is a fairly standard rating and should do a good job of keeping you dry, you can read more about these ratings here. The fibreglass poles are of good quality and will flex with the wind but a generally fairly resilient to this. You can read more about storm-proofing your tent here, hopefully this will help!

Attachable front room1 answer
I just had a question about the front of the tent, in one image the floor does not attach to the walls where as another photo shows the wall and floors attached... can someone please explain this further whether or not it can all be attached to make a weather proof room?
Lauren - new beith(6 years ago)
G'day Lauren,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I can fully understand how confusing the images are, especially if you're not already familiar with the product! The bottom right image is the base tent which, when the fly is attached, creates a sheltered area at the front. The vestibule part of this area includes a detachable bedroom with a weatherproof sewn-in floor. This sits on top of the floor visible in that bottom right image. When the bedroom is attached, the centre passage connecting the 2 rooms offers shelter but is not weatherproof. Hope that makes sense :) Cheers.

Door on back of tent?1 answer
Hi, just comparing this to the Oztrail Tasman 4V Plus - happy to pay more if this one ticks all the boxes. Does this have a door at the back of the tent as well? If so, is there extra fabric that pegs out from the tent ie. comes to a point - with a central zip - or is it a standard D-door entrance? Much thanks
Jo - 3714(6 years ago)
G'day Jo,
The Skygazer 6XV Dome Tent does have a door at the back of the tent. We don't currently have one of these on display to check whether it is D-shaped or a straight zip, but the images in the Oztrail catalogue indicate to me it's a straight zip. This one has some good additional features when compared to the Tasman 4V Plus.
