When you can set up your camp bed in under 10 seconds then you know you’re onto a real winner. The Easy Fold Queen Stretcher from Oztrail is a durable and cleverly designed camp stretcher that’ll get you and your partner ready for sleep in no time at all.
Tall campers can rejoice as this stretcher doesn’t have head or foot cross bars, so you won’t have a metal pole digging into you while you sleep. This stretcher is also a good option if your back needs a firm surface, as it’s fully flat with a soft touch fabric top. The durable powder coated frame will keep you sleeping solidly all night and can easily be wiped if it gets a little grubby with use.
The coolest thing about this stretcher is that once you’re all warm and comfy in your sleeping bag – you can stay that way as it comes with a detachable mesh gear loft to stash your tablet, book or even a midnight snack just under your bed. The side organiser pocket has two mesh pockets and one long pocket, so you can keep your phone, GPS and other important gear at arm’s length.
Would this fit inside the Coleman 3p Swagger tent?
G'day Lily,
No, you won't be able to use a queen stretcher in the Swagger 3P Tent. The sloped side walls make stretchers and swaggers fairly incompatible.
We have an Oztrail Mitchell Double Swag (210x145) and want to make sure the stretcher would be suitable with that - both size-wise and getting in/out of the swag over the side walls? Also, benefits of a stretcher for hot climates - does it make a difference to sleep comfort if there's that airflow underneath?
G'day Franky,
Stretchers are largely beneficial from a comfort and mobility perspective, not so much about temperature differences.
If you're off the ground, you wont have any heat transfer or loss into the ground, but thats about it. You'll have a mattress in your swag which will have an insulation factor of some kind, so if you're really wanting to sleep cooler it may be worth forgoing the mattress.
Climbing into the top of the swag may be abit of a balance, the side walls of the swag will sit at around 70cm base of measurements. Aslong as that's not too tall for you to step up into, you should be ok.
If one person sleeps with a Dune 4wd mattress is the middle bar noticed?
G'day Rosanne,
If you are using a double/queen-sized mattress on here you will still notice the middle bar. You would likely roll to be on one side of the stretcher and mat, but it would still work.
Will the plastic feet damage the tent floor? Is it advisable to put something under the feet to help spread the load further?
G'day Steve,
Not generally, no. Stretchers have been the most common camping sleep option for around for 10 years & I've never heard of tent floors being damaged - if you're worried you could use some Oztrail Foam Floor Mats to protect the floor.
We currently use a self inflating queen mattress but struggle at times with uneven ground. Would this stretcher underneath be a solution (use spacers under some legs) or would there be a better solution?
G'day Robin,
Generally stretchers and uneven ground aren't a great combination, as it's difficult to get them nice and flat, with the load spread evenly. The best option for uneven ground is to find the flattest spot you can, clear away any large rocks/sticks etc, and then set up your tent and mattress with your head on the higher end, and feet on the lower end of any uneven spots. Adding some foam floor mats can help to reduce lumps and bumps, and provide some protection for your mattress too.
Just wondering what the sleeping area(s) size is? (As in, the measurements between the outside bar and the central bar, not including any the bar).
G'day Lou,
I've taken this measurement from the internal rail stitching side to side, which is the flat section between supporting poles. The width of each bed/sleeping section is 63cm
I've read the 2 single mattresses works better on these rather than a quen one due to the centre pole. Though are you able the lay in the middle of this bed comfortably if you do that?
G'day Tracy,
No, you are not able to lay comfortably in the middle of this bed at all, regardless of the mattress option.
You may be able to get away with a super thick 15cm mattress in terms of not feeling the pole as much, but it will still create a rise down the center of the bed, and cause you to roll to either side.
Ideally, double or queen stretcher beds are designed for two people to lay on either side.
Hope that helps.
What is best for on top to avoid the bar? I already have a queen self inflatable but happy to get an air bed?
G'day Clare,
The best option on mattresses for a queen stretcher is to use two separate single mattresses with a mat coupler.
If you don't want to pick up extra mattresses the queen mattress you have would work ok, but as mentioned the bar may cause some discomfort.
It's not recommended to use an airbed on a queen stretcher.
Hi, Just wondering if purchasing the oztrail queen size self inflating mattress would be good for this stretcher? or going with two singles better? cheers
G'day Beck,
The Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher has a central bar that can make fitting a queen size mat a little tricky, as you'll generally end up with a bit of a ridge down the centre. Two single mattresses will give you a more comfortable overall set up, and a little more flexibility for other sleeping options too.
My partner and I love out our Exped Megamat Duo, however, looking to get off the ground. I'm just wondering if you think the middle pole will be a problem?
G'day Angela,
Unfortunately the combination of a double mattress and stretcher doesn't always lead to good comfort. The centre bar on the stretcher tends to give a little bit of a ridge in the centre which isn't comfortable. We'd generally recommend two single mats if you're popping them on top of a queen stretcher.
I have a Kings Big Daddy Deluxe swag and want to get a stretcher to fit underneath it. Would this stretch fit?
G'day Joanne,
Good question, unfortunately, we don't know anything about the Big Daddy swags as they're made by another retailer. The best bet will be to check the dimensions of your swag against the dimension on the stretcher and then decide from there.
I had the same question... Dimensions of the big daddy is155W x 215L.
Hi Kieran,
The Queen Stretcher is 200L x 144W, so the Big Daddy Deluxe sounds as though it will be a bit too big!
The most recent review from June up above says it works OK. They’ve included a photo. Very handy as that was my query too.
hey there. I have an RV4 tent and a queen mattress that fits the bottom of the tent but to combat condensation would this stretcher help? thank you
G'day Ben,
The Queen Stretcher will sort of fit in the RV4 - unfortunately, it will likely touch on the rear slope of the tent and lead to the possibility of water leaking in. To reduce condensation you'll need to use the RV-4 fly, and open up some of the vent windows, changing from a mattress to a stretcher won't reduce the condensation.
Would the 1400 bandit swag fit on top of this alright? I know there is only 5cm in it but have you tried it and does it work?
G'day Ben,
Generally, double swags are not compatible with double stretchers due to the support bar than runs clean down the middle. Often this has a reasonable impact on how comfortable your swag is.
If you're abit of a bed hog, or like to stretch out or claim more than half the mattress territory for yourself, a double stretcher swag combo probably isn't for you.
From a fit perspective, if you dont mind having that solid ridge down the middle, you shouldnt have any trouble.
Hope that helps.
I see it won’t in a RV5... not sure if the tents have different dimensions?
G'day Scott,
The RV5 and RX5 have the same size sleeping space, so, unfortunately, the Queen Stretcher isn't going to be the best option for this tent.
Hi, would this stretcher fit in the pull out extension (rear room) of the Oxley 7 Canvas tent? Thanks.
G'day Michael,
The rear section of the Oxley 7 tapers down toward the ground at the back, so you can't quite fit an entire stretcher in the rear section with the curtain zipped shut. If you left the curtain open then you could use the Queen Stretcher in most of the rear section, and adjust as necessary.
Hi, would 2x Megamat 10 LXW's fit on top of this nicely using the Megamat coupler kit?
G'day Mick,
Yes you can use 2 x Megamat 10 LXWs on top of the Easy Fold Queen Stretcher, however, we think they'll fit better without the coupler kit, as the centre bar can prove to be a little annoying if the mats are connected together.
Keen to purchase a tent that can comfortably fit the queen and single stretcher in the cabin12x15
G'day Michael,
Yes, you'll be able to comfortably fit the Oztrail Queen and Single Stretchers in the 12 x 15 Cabin Tent. There are two rooms that are pretty spacious so there are a range of configurations that will work with those two stretchers.
Would the Darche Nebula 1550 fit on this stretcher?
G'day Charlotte,
The Easy Fold Queen Stretcher is a little bit narrow for the Nebula 1550. We'd probably recommend using the Nebula on the ground due to the size and shape of the Swag.
Hi all, just wondering if anyone has every put a kings big daddy deluxe swag on top of one of these? Heading to Moreton soon for a couple of weeks and would like to be off the ground if possible! Thanks :)
G'day Kay,
Unfortunately, we don't sell Kings swags so it's hard to say, we've given it a whirl with a few Oztrail and Darche branded swags with no problems.
Hi All, Has anyone used this stretcher without an air mattress or mat on it, just a sleeping bag? Is it comfortable without the extra padding of a mattress or mat? Thanks.
G'day Cathy,
The Easy Fold Queen Stretcher is pretty comfortable without an extra mattress on top, however, in winter you might find yourself a little cold as the stretcher won't provide much protection against the cold air underneath the stretcher. We'd suggest pairing it with a self-inflating the mattress, this will provide you with extra padding, and insulation from the cold. You can check out the Double and Queen Self Inflating options here.
Hi, we have a double high air mattress but we struggle getting up, could we put the air mattress on top of this stretcher?
G'day Stacey,
You could put your air mattress on this stretcher but there's a couple of considerations.
The lowest double high air bed we sell is 40cm, ontop of the stretcher this makes a bed height of 90cm which I have to 'hop up' to get on to. If your airbed is one of the taller double highs availble, you'll be getting close to the 1m mark.
The Queen stretchers have a bar down the centre. This means that your air mattress will likely be higher in the middle, and may cause you to roll to the side whilst sleeping. The other possibility with the bar down the centre, is causing concentrated wear and tear on that part of the base of the air mattress.
Hope that helps!
Has anyone used this to put there swag on to get off the ground a bit ? I'm wanting to put my big daddy on top of it has anyone done this ?
G'day Hayley,
We've heard feedback from both customers and staff that double swags aren't very comfortable to sleep on with this stretcher due to the support bar down the centre. The support bar is critical for the structure of the stretcher but also means the swag gets lifted up in the middle and people tend to sleep at an odd angle. It may be worth measuring your swag to see if it will fit on any other stretchers. Feel free to give our customer support team a call on 1300 914 007 to discuss some options.
Hi, would this stretcher with an Oztrail Comfort Bonded 1400 mat fit in the bedroom end of the 2016 Turbo 240 Twin Black Wolf tent? The mat is 7.5cm high and similar dimensions to the stretcher. Thank you!
G'day Kristy,
Are you using the mat on the stretcher or wishing to put them side by side? Using them together you'll have no worries with the combo fitting inside the bedroom of the Turbo Twin 240.
Each bedroom in the 240 measures 240cm x 180cm and the Easy Fold Stretcher has external dimensions of 200cm x 144cm. However, you won't fit the stretcher side by side with the mat - not in the one bedroom space at any rate.
Hope that helps :)
Do you have to use a self-inflating mattress (or 2) with this stretcher? Or is it comfy enough without? Always been a blow up lilo user so am new to this concept.
G'day Stu,
You don't need to use a self-inflating mat on a stretcher but it will improve the comfort. For some people, this will be essential as stretchers can be a bit firm, but others will sleep fine without it. The other big difference a mat will make is it will provide much better insulation than a stretcher or airbed will. So they're an ideal addition for winter if you find your bedding a bit cold as much as anything else.
Will this double fit in an RV5?
G'day Roger,
Becuase of the angled wall of the RV5, it's really hard to fit any stretchers in it without touching the walls. The Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher goes right up to the wall. If you had any wind or rain, then I'd be a bit concerned about it then touching so would probably recommend against using it in the RV5.
G'day Roger,
I'd recommend going for a self-inflating mattress for the RV5. That way, you're not contending with the height of a stretcher with the angled wall.
G'day Roger,
Depending on your budget, there are a few different options you can go for. I personally own a Zempire Megamat and would always recommend them!
Hi Just wondering how well this would fit in one of the side rooms of the Coleman North Star instant up 10p tent? Also, do you have a recommendation for good sleeping mats for this? I’ve read that a double/queen air bed might be problematic due to the middle bar! Thanks.
G'day Monni,
You should be able to fit your Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher in the sleeping area of a Coleman Instant Northstar Dark Room 10P Tent. Although, it's worth noting that it would take up just about all the available space. As for the sleeping mats, I'd suggest a foam mat over an air mattress, because of the middle pole. You could look at either an Oztrail Leisure Mat, Zempire Megamat, Exped Megamat, Black Wolf Mega Deluxe, or Zempire Bomberpad.
Just wondering if anyone has put a swag that is 2200 x 1550 on top of this stretcher and thoughts please.. Thank you
G'day Deb,
Hopefully, you'll get some others offering their thoughts.
I'll just add that unfortunately, double/queen swags (or mats) aren't overly comfortable to sleep on with a queen stretcher due to the support bar going down the middle. This bar is critical for the structure of the stretcher, but it also raises the swag and puts those on either side at an annoying angle when trying to sleep. We recommend that people use two single swags/mats placed either side of the bar.
So do you think if i actually cut the double foam mattress in half this may work????
G'day Deb,
Oooo... I'm honestly not sure. It would help, but the swag itself may still cause issues. I've never heard of anyone taking this approach...
Hi, if I was to join two single mats together using the Exped Universal Mat Coupling Kit, would this eliminate the problem of the central bar lifting the mat up?
G'day Brent,
Using two Exped Megamat 10LXW's is a very popular option on the Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher. The coupling kit will ensure you stay close together, while the gap in the mattress will provide the space and give to ensure the mattresses lay flat.
G'day Berry,
As Emily mentioned, there is about 10cm of overhang in the width, but this isn't unmanageable and doesn't rule out using 2x Exped Megamat 10 LXWs with the Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher. However, if you're seeking a perfect fit, I would recommend a narrower sleeping mat.
Hi there, would the Diamantina double mattress work well with this stretcher? It's about 8cm thick. thanks
G'day Penny,
We don't stock the Diamantine Double Mattress, but from my research, it appears it should fit the Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher without any trouble. However, the challenge is that unfortunately, no queen mat works well with a queen stretcher due to the support bar going down the middle which is critical for the structure of the stretcher. This results in the mattress becoming raised through the middle of the stretcher which can be a point of discomfort for some.
Was just wondering which queen sleeping mat works best with the Oztrail easy fold stretcher?
G'day Dean,
Unfortunately, no queen mat works well with a queen stretcher due to the support bar going down the middle which is critical for the structure of the stretcher. What we would recommend is purchasing 2 single sleeping mats to lay either side of the middle bar. Any single mat under 70cm wide and 200cm long should do the trick.
Hi i was wondering thoughts on using eurobed airmatress on this strecher? I understand this is a similar qn to a previous one but we have invested in a eurobed a couple of years ago and its great just thinking on a frame moght be better? Do you guys think it would work okay or are the strechers best used with inflating mats? Thank you for any help
G'day Jamie,
Unfortunately, the challenge with using a queen mat on a queen stretcher is dealing with the support beam of the stretcher that runs through the middle. This beam raises the mattress and makes it difficult to get comfortable. We'd recommend that the best option with queen stretchers is to use 2x single size mats so that the middle bar is unable to affect the 'sit' of the mattress.
Hi, just wondering if anyone knows whether 2 of the exped singles would fit on this stretcher coupled together with the additional coupling kit from exped thought maybe this would be more comfortable than trying to put a double/queen mattress on the top as singles will allow for the bar down the middle but would these singles work or be to big or small together? Thanks :)
G'day Rachel,
There is going to be 10cm of overhang if you use two of the Megamat singles together (as they’re 77cm wide each) on top of this mat, so it’s not going to be a perfect fit so you might want to look into a smaller mat.
As for comfort – using two single mats (instead of a double) is great way to get around the fact that the stretcher has a bar down the middle.
a) Does the stretcher come with a reasonably weatherproof packing bag? (We're going to have to strap it onto our roof bars... b) Suitable for use with a queen size air bed?
G'day Rob,
The bag this stretcher comes in isn't waterproof, it will have some weather resistance but there will be weak points at the stitching and where the zipper is.
The Easy Fold Queen Stretcher has a bar down the middle, so if you put a queen air bed on top it will be elevated in the middle, so you would be sleeping on a slight angle. It can be done, but some people find they don't like that.
Hi, does a queen size self inflating mat fit on the stretcher? Thanks
G'day Kat,Â
I have just tried this myself with the display models in the shop, and the Oztrail Queen Mat fits onto the Easy Fold Queen Stretcher - so they're perfectly matched!
