The RV Deluxe Side Panels from Oztent allow you to close off each side of the awning on your RV tent for extra privacy, and to protect you from windy conditions. These panels are super simple to use - all you need to do is zip them to the awning and the side of your tent.
Made from heavy-duty, waterproof Polycotton canvas - they’ve got the same durability and weather protection as the rest of your RV tent. Complete with two extra poles and a ridge bar, you can create a peak in your awning which will cleverly stop the rain pooling, so you won’t have the lower the front poles.
The doors can be unzipped to just a No-See-Um mesh screen, so you can get some ventilation and light into your awning without letting mozzies and other insects buzzing around. With all the poles and pegs that you’ll need plus a carry bag– these panels are the perfect accessory to help you get the most out of your RV tent.

Hi, would you recommend seasoning the RV peaked side panels in the same way you would typically season a canvas tent?
G'day Joe,
Yes, it would be a good idea to season these too as they are also made of Poly-Cotton Canvas. This enables the stitching holes to shrink around the tread of the stitch lines and the cotton in the canvas to swell. You can do this the same way you would season a tent, let the canvas dry completely before repeating this two times.
Will this fit an RV1? if not what are my attachment options to create more space like this does?
G'day Ross,
It won't I'm sorry. The RV1 was discontinued several years ago, and subsequently, the RV1 accessories sold out Australia wide pretty quickly after that. There's no RV1 compatible accessories left in circulation, unless you can find something second-hand.
The only other thing I can suggest is potentially heading to your local canvas and awning specialist & getting some custom panels made up.
Can these side panels be used on an RV5 with a tag along attached?
G'day Craig,
Yep, absolutely. The Tagalong tent shouldn't affect any of the side attachments.
It should give you a nice little setup.
Hope that helps!
Hi, Will these fit both rv2 and rv5? Would it be possible to connect rv2 and rv5 with a connector once these side panels are in place on both tents?
These will fit the side of both the RV2 and RV5 awnings, Jenny. Once they are in place you can join two RV tents together with an Awning Connector (https://www.snowys.com.au/rv-awning-connectors), but these work best with two tents of the same dimensions. You can still join your RV2 with your RV5 but given the width difference, you will only be able to cover the gap between the tents on one side, and you will have a bit of loose fabric hanging in area where there is the difference in width. See the video on the page linked in my answer for more context. ~ Ben
Can the deluxe side panels be used with RV5 plus model?
G'day Declan,
No, these panels are for use with the standard RV range...if you want panels for your RV5 Plus, head to the RV Plus Peaked Side Panels.
Hope that helps!
I’m trying to work out the best option to fit under a 7 metre tarp and would like two freestanding tents over an rv5 and a tagalong for increased flexibility. Thanks in advance.
G'day Craig,
The side panels can only be attached to one tent at a time, so my suggestion would be to leave the front awning of one RV5 rolled up and secured above the door, then extending the awning on the other and attaching the side panels. This will leave a small gap between the tent and awning, however, given you'll be under a large tarp this shouldn't cause any water leakage issues.
I have the RX-5 and will not use the front room all of the time. Can the peaked side panels be used instead?
G'day Thao,
The RV Deluxe Side Panels aren't compatible with the RX-5. The RX models are only designed to be used with the supplied panel system.
How do these side panels hold up in strong wind? Last trip I attached a shade house side wall to one side of my RV1 with awning peaked and the wind caused the tarp to bent my inside pole.
G'day Den,
Great question mate! We've had loads of feedback on these panels and everyone seems really impressed with them, many of whom have left reviews detailing adverse weather conditions. In regards to strong winds, we've had one customer use an additional cross spreader bar to add extra stability and then take the extra step of adding extra spreader bars from the centre pole of the side panel to the front pole. They've reported that this set -up made the panels (and tent) 'as good as you could get in strong winds'.
If you want to explore this idea, here's the link to our range of spreader poles and clips etc.
Cheers :)
Hi could you tell me the width of the side panels from tent attachment to pole attachment once installed, I would like to know how much the peak reduces the 2m awning of my RV3. Thanks.
G'day Den,
I've just measured one of the Rv Deluxe Side Panels and they are 175cm from tent attachment to pole attachment.
If i wanted to order a second set of poles to suit the sidewalls, what size do i get (RV4)
G'day James,
The poles that come with the Oztent RV Deluxe Side Panels for the RV4 are the 220cm Oztent Alloy Poles.
Can these panels be pegged into the ground? Will water get under the sides at the bottom? Regards
G'day Tim,
The Oztent RV Side Panels are waterproof, but I wouldn't back them to keep water from seeping through at the bottom even if pegged down. Unfortunately, pegging the side panel won't create a clean seal between the panel and the ground.
Assume from oztent website it does ?
G'day Tony,
I’ve just spoken with Oztent, and they’ve said that you attach the Side Awning first to the tent awning - the Side Awning itself has two zippers so you can zip the Deluxe Side Panel onto the Side Awning to use both at the same time.
I hope that properly answered the question this time, just let us know if you have any other queries.
