The Thetford Porta Potti 365 features a user-friendly design with more volume than the Porta Potti 345. A 21-litre holding tank is teamed up with an easy to use manual piston pump, and a holding tank level indicator to help plan for the inevitable visit to a sullage point.
The Porta Potti range features a refreshed design, and updated functionality including an improved blade handle design, lid clip, and a convenient carry handle for the waste holding tank.
Manufactured to a high standard, the Thetford Porta Potti 365 is hermetically sealed to keep odours at bay and is backed by a 3-year warranty.
I have this plus cavas bag, will be traveling solo from melb to Perth in a suv. I might have to travel sometimes a day or two with porta potty. How bad it smells if I’ll carry it inside in back area of SUV? Or it has good enough seal to keep the smell? I have RTT so no space on roof to carry porta potty. Thanks
G'day Atif,
The seal on the Porta Potti is good, but wether or not it smells will largely come down to the the toilet chemicals you're using.
Make sure to grab yourself some Aqua Kem Blue to add to your waste tank.
Is there a weight limit for users? Like, it holds people up to 120kg etc.
G'day John,
The Thetford Porta Potti range has a load rating or user weight limit of 120kg, across all models.
If the toilet has had it's flushing and storage tanks filled with water and the chemicals for each can the toilet be stored for long periods with these in it if it wasn't used on a trip or should these be emptied and the toilet stored dry?
G'day Paul,
To prolong the life of your toilet, it would be best to store the toilet dry and empty, even though chemicals are in the water they can wear off over time and bacteria and mould can still grow in the water.
I am interested in a Thetford 365. I drive a 4WD wagon and tent camping. I want toilet on roof-rack not in vehicle. Is there a bag available which allows device to be separated with top and bottom side-by-side giving a longer flatter carry bag with less wind resistance.
G'day David,
Theres not I'm sorry. You may be able to find a generic duffle bag or other bag style to suit, but we dont have anything really in our range that would work.
You'd be looking at something around 25cm H x 85cm L x 45cm W
What should be done if the toilet is being stored away in the shed for a period of time?
G'day Stephan,
There is some information in the user manual about storage, but just make sure that the unit has been cleaned, deodorised and completely emptied before storing. It is best to store it somewhere that has a relatively stable temperature and humidity.
I have a son in a wheelchair, and am concerned he might accidentally push it over when transferring on/off the toilet. Is there any recommended way to secure this to the ground (i.e. outside)? If not, am considering four BIG pegs at each corner, with a ratchet strap to secure it all together. Thanks!
G'day Jason,
There are mounting options, but they are for indoor/in caravan use where the brackets can be screwed to the floor.
If this is to try and stabilise for outdoor use, pegs and ratchet straps would be the way to go, but it also may be woirth investigating with a local fabricator if they could make up a bracket for you with peg point tabs off the base.
I'm thinking something similar to metal gas bottle or jerry can holders for vehicles. I have had luck with someone local to me making up some great stuff, so hopefully you can get a similar outcome!
Can you please compare to 565p? Is it just different look and slightly different dimensions? I appreciate these FAQS- so helpful!
G'day Miriam,
You're correct that it's just the shape and dimensions that are different.
The actual tank capacities are exactly the same, as is the flushing piston unless you want to go with the 565E which has an electric flush button.
As the 565 is slightly larger, it is also heavier, which may be a consideration if you need to move it around.
Can this be stored on its side ? Height wise wouldn’t fit in camper tool box
G'day Toops,
If the unit is completely empty, then yes, you can store it on the side. Once there is liquid in the unit we wouldn't recommend storing it on the side, as the seals aren't designed to provide a seal other than in the upright position.
Does the top tank or flushing outlets leak when driving on rough tracks? I own a cheaper style and this happens plus I see one other comment on here that suggests this model may be the same? I need a toilet that completely seals as I move camp from day to day and it is unreasonable to expect to change water each day.
Can toilet paper be thrown into the toilet and does any type of toilet paper work well?
G'day Sam,
Yes, you can flush toilet paper in the Porta Potti. We do sell Thetford toilet paper, or you can use any low ply toilet paper that will break down easily and quickly.
Find an empty medium sized jar, such as from pasta sauce. Half fill with water. Throw a couple of sheets of your favourite TP in and put the lid on. Give it a quick shake. If the TP disintegrates easily, it's absolutely fine to use in these toilets. My wife and I have the 365 and happily use Sorbent without problems.
How much of the blue and pink chemicals do you add to toilet thank you
G'day Susie,
The AquaKem Blue dose is 150 ml per 20L waste-holding tank capacity, the AquaKem Pink dose is 100ml per 15L flush-water tank capacity.
I notice there is space to store smaller bottles of the toilet chemicals, is there anyway I can purchase these so we dont have to take the big bottles away with us?
G'day Aleisha,
There aren't any smaller bottles available from Thetford, but you could use the aqua-kem satchets instead to save weight/packing space.
Hi. I've seen photos with two chemical bottles stored in a cavity on the holding tank. Are they the Thetford 1 litre bottles?
G'day Ross,
There are two small bottles that come with some models and are stored in the rear of the holding tank. These bottles are sample bottles, so, unfortunately, you won't be able to fit 1L bottles in there.
Is use of chemicals absolutely required with the Porta Potti? If it gets emptied / cleaned daily, would all the water tank and waste tank chemicals still be needed? Thanks for the help!
G'day Beate,
The short answer is yes, you'll need to use something in the waste tank to breakdown the waste, otherwise, you're really just carrying around an expensive toilet when you could just be carrying a bucket with a seat. The Porta Potti's are designed to be used with something to break down the waste, you can get away with not using a flush tank additive, but the waste tank will need to have something added to it. If you're worried about using the high potency Thetford chemicals you could opt to go for Biomagic, which is biodegradable and grey water and septic safe.
What is the difference between a Thetford 165 and Thetford 365 please?
G'day Beverly,
The Porta Potti 365 is the exact same size as the Porta Potti 165 with some slightly more premium features. The 365 has a piston style pump, while the 165 has a bellow style pump, the 365 also has a built-in holding tank indicator on the front so you'll know when it's time to empty it without having to open it up and check.
Green and blue?.... or pink as well? (I won't be using a septic) Thanks
G'day Derek,
The Aqua Kem Blue and Green are both designed to break down waste in the waste tank, with the difference being the Green is septic safe. The pink is a flush water additive to help keep the flush water clean and fragrant. We generally suggest that people buy one of each the green and pink, or blue and pink to begin with.
Planning on camping at the snow and concerned that the liquids will freeze/expand. Is there a way to prevent the flush water from freezing? Would the pink liquid prevent it?
G'day Mark,
If you're planning to use this unit in the snow then I'm afraid the liquid will freeze in the snow, so we'd suggest storing the unit inside or going for something like the Thunder Down Under Toilet instead
Is there an specific weight limit for this toilet?
G'day Cameron,
I managed to find a FAQ on the Thetford website and they indicate the following: 'Porta Potti: one time max load is 400kg; max loading in normal use is approx 120kg (6000 cycles)'. Hopefully that's helpful.
I'll be remote camping on a beach near Exmouth so have unlimited salt water but all fresh has to be transported in
G'day Paul,
We don't recommend it mate, sorry! Being corrosive, the salt water would destroy the inner rubber seals pretty quickly but if you did decide to use it, we would advise you to wash it thoroughly with fresh water as soon as you were able. Also, I'm pretty sure that any damage due to salt water wouldn't be covered under the warranty either mate. Cheers :)
Can this toilet be used for ‘black’ waste?
G'day Johnny,
The Porta Potti Qube 365 can be used for all toileting. I'm assuming you mean 'number twos' when you say 'black waste', which will be absolutely fine.
can you put up a photo or video of this fitting in the oztrail canvas toilet carry bag please
G'day Leeanne,
We've taken a few snaps of the Thetford
Does this loo fit in the canvas carry bag you are selling?
G'day Brad,
The Thetford Portapotti Qube 365 does fit inside the Oztrail Canvas Toilet Bag.
G'day Eve,
Unfortunately, the Oztrail Canvas Toilet Bag is the only toilet bag we stock and Oztrail themselves are currently out of stock, which is why we're about a month away from having some stock.
In the photos it shows two little bottles on the waste canister. Do you have to use the thetford chemicals or are the tablets enough?
G'day Lyn,
You don't necessarily need to use the chemicals with the Thetford Portapotti Qube 365 but it would certainly make a positive difference if you did.
The carry bag is included in the photos. I'm just wondering if it is included or needs to be ordered seperately ?
G'day Mick,
Glad you mentioned it!
I've just done a run around and it looks as though we've only just ended that promotion as we've run out of stock of the carry bags. So we've quickly changed the images back to how they were.
If you have a second, please give us a call on 1300 914 007 - we'd like to make up for the blunder.
