G'day can you charge the battery pack while it is powering the fridge or should you unplug it from the fridge while charging.
G'day Pete,
I've had a look through the product manual, and there isn't anything to say you can't charge the battery and run the fridge from it at the same time, however, if you're near a 240V power source I'd suggest charging the battery separately, and using your 240V cable to run the fridge, as your battery will charge up much more quickly for use while away from power.
I wanted to post an update to this question Pete, for anyone else with the same question. The battery pack can't be charged at the same time it is powering a fridge, it physically won't let this happen, reason being is to ensure the battery remains safely balanced and doesn't overheat. If a charger is connected at the same time a fridge is connected the battery will automatically preference charging over running a device.
That being said, there is a DC DC charger coming out for this battery. This means that whilst your on the move you can run the fridge directly from your car and use a second 12V outlet in your car to charge the battery via the DC DC charger. Then when you get to camp you can switch over to the power pack.
I am inquiring if the mycoolman CCP15 can be used on any brand of 12 volt fridge/freezer? Also will the unit use more power if both fridge and freezer is working. Thanks. Mike
G'day Mike,
This product is only compatible with the range of myCOOLMAN fridges which you can view here, so they won't be suitable to power another brand of fridge, unfortunately as far as we know. Generally most 12V fridges will use more power when used in freezer or combi mode, depending on the manufacturer.
Can this battery pack be recharged from a 12 volt car socket, for example while you are driving and then run the fridge when you stop.
G'day Kiel,
This battery is designed to be charged from 240v rather than 12v. The manual says not to plug the power pack into the DC vehicle socket.
Mycoolman powerpack being charged off a battery pack??
G'day Leigh,
The Portable Power Pack is only designed to be charged from 240V, theoretically, you could charge it from a battery pack with an inverter, but you would need to ensure the inverter suited the output requirements to charge the power pack.
is it compatible with Waeco CFX 50l fridge??
G'day David,
This product is only compatible with the range of myCOOLMAN fridges which you can view here, so they won't be suitable to power a Waeco fridge, unfortunately as far as we know.
I don't understand why this cannot work with another brand fridge. It's just a battery / power source with an input and output. What am I missing?
G'day David
