Short Flex Tips1 answer
I've not used trekking poles before, so I'm wondering what the flex tips are made of? Do they wear out? Can you get replacements if they do?
Richard - Dunsborough, WA(3 years ago)
G'day Richard,
They're made of tough plastic with aluminium/carbide tips. They will wear out over time but the rate of this is dependent on terrain type and frequency of use. Replacements are readily available and it's very easy to swap them over.

I have the Makalu Teton Soft Antishock1 answer
Is this the replacement ? Is it as strong ? Has it the anti shock device similar to mine? Does the new clamping system get caught on objects?
Greg - Dromana 3936(5 years ago)
G'day Greg,
The Makalu is a slightly different model to the Khumbu. The Khumbu have cork handles, but a similar antishock mechanism to the Makalu poles. They're both made from an aluminium material that is very durable and robust, and the lock mechanism are very similar.
