Don’t suffer through your next camping, fishing or hunting trip – grab a warm, soft and super spacious Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 sleeping bag from Darche.
With dual zips, you can join compatible bags together, and if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like feeling confined – this bag can be unzipped to create a large doona so you’ll feel right at home. If you can’t bear to be parted with your phone or device even when you sleep, the good news is that you can keep it in the Cold Mountain’s internal pocket.
The draw cord hood can be cinched in to keep your head warm, and the flannel lining feels almost like your quilt at home which will keep you snug. The great news about the Canvas Cold Mountain, is that it just rolls up like a swag into its zippered carry bag, ready for you to throw in your car and hit the road.
Would this sleeping bag work well on a double air mattress, in terms of keeping warm underneath? Sick of taking a mattress topper with me when camping, but want to stop the cold from coming up! Thanks!
Kath - Clifton grove, NSW (7 months ago)
G'day Kath,
This Sleeping Bag will work well to keep you warm and comfortable up to about 0° to -5° degrees, the insulation underneath you does play a factor in keeping you warm and insulated from the cold.
If you don't have any insulation on top of your mattress or in your mattress you still may feel some cold coming up from the ground. Whether it be an extra blanket underneath the sleeping bag or if this bag will be insulating enough can be hard to tell for your specific set-up. This is a great quality and warm bag, but you may need some insulation underneath to keep you warm.

Canvas 1 answer
Are canvas sleeping bags better and longer lasting then normal ones ?
Adam - Hobart, TAS(1 year ago)
G'day Adam,
Not necessarily, it just depends on how well you care for your gear, and how you're going to use them. If you swag camp and want to roll your sleeping bag up within the swag, or even camp without a shelter ifn fair weather, than the Canvas outer bags are a great option. If you tent, camper trailer, or van camp - a little less rough - then the standard bags will do the trick.
Generally people opt for the Canvas options more so for the aesthetics and feel of the bag, so don't discount those as important factors either.
Whichever one you choose, they'll keep you warm, it's just down to your preferred finish!

Canvas and synthetic bags1 answer
Can you join a canvas 1100 and a synthetic 1100 together?

G'day Bree,
The zip hardware bis the same across the Darche bags, so you'll have no issue zipping them together.

Are they waterproof/water resistant?1 answer
Are the Darche Canvas sleeping bags water resistant or water proof?
Steve - Albury(4 years ago)
G'day Steve,
Canvas is water repellant when it is under tension, however, if water pools on the surface without tension then it can seep through. You might be ok in a light sprinkle, but you'd get damp if you were just in the sleeping bag when it's raining.

Will this fit in a darche 1100 swag 1 answer
Will the 1400 cold mountain bag fit in a 1100 darche swag and allow the swag to be rolled up nicely? Or would I be better off getting a 1100 size bag. Thanks
Aeron - 2750(4 years ago)
G'day Aeron,
The 1400 swag will be a little bit large to fit in the 1100 swag, as you'll end up with a lot of extra fabric. We'd recommend the 1100 bag if you've got an 1100 bag.

Swag1 answer
Can I roll this up in the nebular swag?
Ian - Nedlands(5 years ago)
G'day Ian,
We're pretty confident you should be able to roll up the Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 with your Nebula Swag. It might take a pretty precise roll to get it back in the bag, but with a little persistence it should be all ok.

What's the length of the hood1 answer
Hi, what's the length of the hood on this sleeping bag? I'm 199cm tall and need a really long sleeping bag
Chris - 3204(5 years ago)
G'day Chris,
The overall length of the bag is 250cm. The bag has a max user height of 230cm, and the hood section is around 40cm. Hope that helps!

Panorama21 answer
Hi,
So this being 1400 wide it should suit well to the Panorama 2. If coupled with the Darche RTM1400 should I be able to leave it in the tent when packed up...?
Tony - Maiden Gully(6 years ago)
G'day Tony,
This is going to be a bit of a squeeze as the Panorama is designed to have a really low profile to reduce drag. Unfortunately, I don't have a Panaorama on display to test this out for you. The Darche Hi-View Gen 2 has more depth when it's packed away and will work better with gear like sleeping bags stored inside.

Make into two bags?1 answer
Can you unzip the 1400 to make two single sleeping bags?
Johno - Onkaparinga Hills(6 years ago)
G'day Johno,
I've just given this a try with our display model of the Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 and I did manage to make a couple of single sleeping bags out of it. They didn't seal up at the foot end though and both were quite thin.
Ben - Snowys(6 years ago)
Is this the only colour it comes in?1 answer
I have seen it in a beige colour and I'm not sure if that is the could colour or the new colour.
Do you have it in beige?
Graeme - Silverwater(7 years ago)
G'day Graeme,
The Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 in the beige is the old model which we no longer have any stock available for. Sorry.

Zips1 answer
Hi guys just looking at these sleeping bags do they have zips on each side or are they only down one side.
Emrys - Chittering (7 years ago)
G'day Emrys,
The Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400 is made with dual zippers, which means there are zippers down both sides.
Ben - Snowys(7 years ago)
Do you have these in stock yet and what is the difference b/twn the 1100 and 1400 ?.Thanks.1 answer
Just after availability of these sleeping bags thank's.
Greg - Sunshine coast,Qld.(8 years ago)
G'day Greg,
The 1100 and 1400 of the Darche Cold Mountain Canvas simply represent their width. This is the only difference which naturally affects their weight with 1100 (1.1m) being 4.4kg and 1400 (1.4m) being 5.5kg. Everything else is the same.
Unfortunately, the stock hasn't arrived yet but we are hoping for any day now. If you'd like like to go on a waiting list, rather than pre-order, please give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and we can help you do that.

1400mm - Double?2 answers
Should the 'Darche Cold Mountain Canvas 1400' be regarded as a compact adult double, or should it be viewed as an over wide single?
Steve - Hobart(8 years ago)
G'day Steve,
That's a great question. While it depends on the size of the two people looking to sleep inside the bag, the Darche 1400 Cold Mountain sleeping bags are designed as a compact two person sleeping bag. To offer some perspective, the width of most king size sleeping bags are around 100cm, so if you're after a bit of room to move, we'd encourage you to consider joining two single bags together. If you do decide to get two single bags with hoods, ensure you select bags with a left and right zip so that they can be joined with the hoods being at the base.

We have this sleeping bag and my husband is 120kg, 6ft3 and im 60kg 5ft and we fit fine, if both were on the bigger side then perhaps not. It is a snug fit but thats how we like it when we camp in the winter months.
