Archie1 answer
Would this be able to power a PA and mixer? Some forum groups have been discussing yeti as an alternative to battery powered amps for better sound
Archie - Piara Waters, WA(2 years ago)
G'day Archie,
That depends entirely on the power requirements of your equipment. This unit only has the capacity to supply 230v power to appliances with a combined wattage of 300 or less, for a period of approximately 1hr 30-45mins. Hope this helps.

Tyson1 answer
I have a solar blanket with an Anderson plug, will that connect to this to charge the battery?
Tyson - Geelong, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day Tyson,
It wont. Goal Zero use 8mm terminals to connect all the charging and solar optios to the Yeti series. If you want to use a standard solar panel with these, you'll have to pick up an Anderson to 8mm adapter cable. We dont have these available, but they can be picked up through Jaycar or Goal Zero Australia.

Power for Portable Fridge/Freezer1 answer
Can this be used to power portable fridge/freezer like Dometic? if not, what is the suggested portable power station
Vincent - Sydney Olympic Park, NSW (3 years ago)
G'day Vincent,
The Yeto 500x will give you approximately 33Ah before needing to be recharged. Depending on which model fridge you have and its average power consumption, you could get anywhere between 10-15hrs of solid run time (based on the most common average). If you have solar panels connected, and the battery is constantly being kept topped up with good sunlight, you could ultimately run your fridge consistently without issues.

Solar panel1 answer
What GZ solar panel is optimal for charging the Yeti 500x. The brief case 100 doesn’t list this power station as compatible but is good because it folds smaller
Shaun - Petersham, NSW (3 years ago)
G'day Shaun,
The solar requirements on the 500x are: Input Power: 8mm Port, 13−22V up to 10A, 120W Max.
This means that the Boulder 100 is more than suitable. The information we have provided by Goal zero on these panels was written before the Yeti X series was released, so it doesn't include the new power stations.

Charging the Sherpa100PD1 answer
Can I use the USB PD outlet on the Yeti 500X to charge the Sherpa 100PD
David - Atwell, WA(3 years ago)
G'day David,
Sure! As long as your Sherpa 100PD has the USB C double-ended cable.

Solar Panels1 answer
Can you use a different brand solar panel to charge this Power station?
Peter - Newtown, NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Peter,
Technically you could, but we wouldn't recommend it if possible. They're very much a plug & play style brand where they're designed to work seamlessly with other Goal Zero products. Kind of like Apple products I guess. They use a particular 8mm port which is not a standard 12v power system connection, and their panels and power stations are just designed to work together. The Boulder Briefcase Solar Panels are the ideal option for the 500X Power station

Could this power a heater or electric blanket?1 answer
Could this power a heater or electric blanket?
Mandy - St Ives, NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Mandy,
It is possible that you could use the Yeti 500X with a heater or an electric blanket, however, they would need to be very low wattage. The 240V maximum output is 300W, so anything greater than this will cause damage to the unit, most heaters will be 500W , but you might be able to find something smaller. I'm not too sure about most electric blankets, but if you double-check the tags on your blanket it should state the wattage required.

what can i charge?1 answer
could this power a kettle or hair dryer or small fan? can i literally just plug my apple mac laptop charger in as it?? Is much different to the 200w for charging laptop/phone/powering lights ?? thanks
rb - East Launceston, TAS(4 years ago)
G'day RB,
The AC Output on the Yetu 500X is 300W (1200W surge), so this will rule out a kettle or hairdryer. You should be able to run a small fan depending on the wattage. You can charge a MacBook directly from the unit as the inverter is a pure sine wave, but we'd recommend avoiding using the laptop at the same time as charging it. The 500X has a larger capacity battery, and can handle higher wattages than the 200X version.

Does it charge from 12 V auxiliary power outlet 1 answer
G’day, I noticed the input charge spec starts at 13V. Can I charge this unit from my car’s cigarette lighter power outlet? Cheers, Manoj
Manoj Panicker - 2747(4 years ago)
G'day Manoj,
The Goal Zero Yeti 500X Lithium Portable Power Station comes with an AC wall charger, however, if you want to charge this unit through your 12v cigarette outlet in your car you'll be needing the compatible Goal Zero Regulated Car Charge Cable 8mm.

There are some bad reviews on the internet what is your experience with quality and after sales service?1 answer
I like the physical size and power capacity but want to buy a good product.
Graham - Parkdale(4 years ago)
G'day Graham,
These units are pretty new in Australia, so we've not really had to time to hear how they're going. In general, we've always found Goal Zero products to be very good, and not really had issues with their previous models. I'm not too sure where you've seen these reviews, but I can assure you that if you did have any problems our warranties team are top-notch, and do an excellent job.
