I am looking at trying Salomon brand shoes but unsure of the right size for this particular brand. I usually wear shoe size US 8 about 24.5 cm. What size can you recommend?

You can check out our Footwear Sizing Chart here which has sizing information for all the major brands we stock. In your instance, at 24.5cm, you'd be looking at around a size UK 6.

but unsure what size i need i usually take a size 9 au my foot is 25cms long and about 10 cm wide without socks on

Salomon actually list centimeters on the boxes for their boots so I had a look for you and 25cm is a size 8US. I'd suggest allowing a bit of space for a thick sock though and looking at a 26cm, or size 9US.

What size is the largest you would have in hiking boots.
My 16 year old daughter is in a size 12. I obviousley want them to look as much like girls shoes as possible

I've just double checked this for you, and it would seem that they don't actually make hiking boots for women in a size 12.
Your best bet would be to figure our your daughter's European size, and then compare it the men's sizes on this sizing chart here and look into a men's or unisex boot.
These Salomon X Ultra Mid 2 GTX boots might be a good one to consider as they're quite colourful, the rest of the men's range is more on the earthy colour spectrum.
