Confidently take on a more technical trail with the full support from your footwear with the X Ultra 3 Mid GTX Boots from Salomon.
These boots are made from waterproof PU coated leather and textile, which gives it a good balance of weight and protection. The heel and toe caps and mudguard around the base of the shoe work to provide your feet with protection from any obstructions on your path. You’ll be able to get an almost customised fit, as the Sensifit system will cradle your feet for a snug fit all around. Cushioning is provided by the injected EVA midsole, and the Gore-tex membrane will keep your feet dry while allowing them to breathe.
The advanced chassis will help keep your heel stable, and the high traction sole gives you the grip you need to take on descents and will perform even on wet terrain. With the X Ultra 3 Mid GTX Boots from Salomon you won’t have to worry about support on your next long hike.
Ideal for: hiking and walking
High traction Contragrip sole
Injected EVA midsole for cushioning and anatomically designed support
Gore-tex membrane for breathable waterproof protection
Advanced chassis for motion control and stability
Mudguard and heel and toe cap for protection
Sensifit system cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system for a virtually customised fit all around the foot
Would these work for a long narrow low-volume foot with a narrow heel? thanks!

G'day Rebecca,
The X Ultra 3 Mid has a fairly standard width with plenty of options to tighten them up through the midfoot, and heel. It's hard to say without trying them on, but we're pretty confident that these fit a wide range of foot types.

G'day Jen,
Thanks for your question. I have spoken with a colleague who is an expert in this area, he said the Salomon X Ultra 3 Mid GTX is a great option for those types of conditions. They're solid, lightweight and will be very comfortable. He mentioned the width of those hiking boots are a narrower fit so if you have a wider forefoot, you could look at the Salomon Quest Prime GTX boots. Find the link here.

Sizing1 answer
Hi, just another question re sizing, I am a regular size 8 in all shoes, I like to buy half size bigger in my hiking boot for swelling/thick socks, this boot says it runs half size bigger so would you recommend for me to keep to a size 8 or 8.5, I live in country nsw so can't come in store to be fitted, are shoes ok to be returned for size exchange, cheers Kylie S

G'day Kylie,
I've just had a chat with our women's footwear expert, Lisa. She told me that as a general rule, you should be good with the size 8 but that can sometimes change depending on the shape of your toes. If you're usually an 8, then you'll most likely be good with an 8 of the Salomon X Ultra 3 Mid GTX Women's Boot because of the fact that they're made slightly bigger. If you do need to return the shoes because they don't fit though, you are more than welcome to do that as long as they've not been out and about in the dirt etc.
