what is the main difference between the pro and non pro trek poles ?1 answer
I'm not sure if spending more is a good investment. I'm in a hiking group and someone recommended Black Diamond for women. I'm not sure whether to get the pro version or not??
Beverley Sparks - BUNDALL(6 years ago)
G'day Beverly.
The Wmn's Trail Pro Shock Trekking Poles have Control Shock Technology - which gives progressive absorption and load dampening. The Women's Trekking Poles don't have shock control. The Trail Pro Poles also have a slightly different FlickLock mechanism for easy height adjustment.

Sturdy in rivers or rocky terrain?1 answer
I have hiked with trekking poles for many years and have not experienced 'shock' poles and wonder if I should stick to the rigid type as I heard the shock poles are not as stable in water crossing or loose rocks downhill.
Sandra - Bringelly(7 years ago)
G'day Sandra,
The 'shock' in some trekking poles is great for damping vibration and providing a bit of give if you happen to plant a pole particulary hard. I don't think I'd say they would perform dramatically different to a rigid pole in those specific situations. They do add a bit of weight to the pole as well. If you've always been happy with rigid walking poles I'd stick with what you know!

I love those poles.1 answer
Unfortunately while bush walking, the bottom lock of one of the poles opened and I lost the 3rd part of the pole (with the tip). Is it possible to buy that missing part?
Francoise Munoz - West Pennant Hills(8 years ago)
G'day Francoise,Â
I've had a chat to the supplier, and they've said they're going to need a few more details from you so they can figure out whether they can get a spare in for you. If you could email us at service@snowys.com.au with a few pics of your pole along with your contact information, then we'll be able to look into this for you Francoise. Â

Kids Trekking poles1 answer
I was just wondering if you supplied hiking poles for kids? I have a keen 9 year old. Or will these shorten enough for our daughter. (average height for a 9 yr old)
Joanne - , (9 years ago)
I can't say I've ever heard of trekking poles for kids sorry Joanne. Most of the poles we sell retract down to around 65 cm though, which should be plenty short enough for a child of 9 years, and plenty of adjustment for them to grow in to.
