As the name says, the Weekender Tent from Outdoor Connection is the perfect shelter for the weekend warrior.
The fly is made from 100D HiCount fabric which has a 2000mm
Get more shelter around your tent by turning the rear and front doors into a three-pole awning, which can also be left up in a drizzle. You can also get separate side walls to add extra protection to the awning area. Topped off with internal organiser pockets, zippered electrical cord access, door locks, and lantern hanging hooks - the Weekender a practical and versatile tent for an overnight or longer stay.
How does the Outdoor connection Weekender cabin tent compare to Black Wolf Turbo 240 X- Lite LF TENT
Is this a relatively dark tent? I understand this doesn't have The darkroom fabric, but just wondering if this is darkish come morning time. I currently have a Fast frame Oztrail and it does my head in come morning time from light coming in at first dawn. Also I understand the Aria1 is the same tent but with air pole technology. What would be a realistic comparison in times to setup?
G'day Benjamin,
I'd say compared to the Oztrail Fast Frame series these tents would be alittle darker, but wether or not it will be dark enough for you in the morning is hard to say.
In my experience with air pole tents, they are generally faster to set up than traditional pole tents that don't have a fast or instant style frame. Unfortunately I dont have an exact time comparison for you, but if spead and ease of set up is a consideration, I think its work looking at the Aria.
Could one person set this up alone?
G'day Deborah,
It is possible for this tent to be set up by one person, but its gonna take some practice to get comfortable with it.
One of the main issues is that the tent is quite high, so getting the fly over is tricky, especially if you are vertically challenged!
You can easily offset this by having a tag line attached to a peg loop to drag it over, or using an awning pole to help pull it over.
The first few times setting it up may be awkward, but the more you do it the more you'll work out your own ways to set up smoothly.
Hi Could you tell me the dimensions of the outside awning space please. And is this easy to put up by myself , I currently have the 4 P Northstar Coleman .. looking for something with options for better shading and ventilation. And I see this has optional sides for shade. Thanks
G'day Shiree,
The dimensions of the Awning on the Weekender Cabin Dome Tent are approximately 220 x 220 cm with the width varying depending on how high you set the pitch of the centre awning pole.
In terms of putting the tent up, it isn't an instant up frame. There's a series of poles you'll have to put together, similar to the traditional dome style tents. I'm sure you'll be able to put it up yourself, but I think it will take a few attempts before you can get into a rhythm with it.
Hi, Will two king Goanna stretchers fit in this tent?
G'day Matt,
Yes, absolutely, thanks to the pole design on the Weekender Cabin you'll have no worries fitting two King Goanna Stretchers in here.
Are there internal window closures to keep out the wind on all windows and doors?
G'day Andrea,
I've just double checked Outdoor Connection's website, and it says that this tent has internal zippered privacy panels on all doors and windows. Hope that helps!
Is this the newest model of he weekender?
G'day Ursula,
I notice that there is this one and the other Weekender for $350 - cant see any real differences. Can you advise is this a new model and are there any new features?
G'day Jay,
The newer model Weekender Cabin dome has an upgraded floor material that's a little thicker. Outdoor Connection has also told us they're a little more box-shaped to give you more internal space for using stretchers.
Hi, trying to choose between this tent and Coleman instant Up 6p. I understand this will take a little longer to set up, but how do the tents compare in terms of quality, materials and comfort - especially ventilation? Thanks a lot for helping us decide.
G'day Olga,
Although the Outdoor Connection Weekender Cabin and the Coleman Instant-Up 'look' similar, the Weekender is of all-around superior quality which is of course, reflective in its price. From the materials used in the walls, the fly, the floor, even the frame, all are more durable. This is not to say that the Instant-Up is poor, just the Weekender is better! It also includes a 3-year warranty as against the 1 year offered on the Coleman Instant-Up. As far as ventilation goes, both are pretty great however, the Weekender includes the added feature of Ventraflow panels at the bottom of both sides to allow a cross-flow of air down low. I hope that helps your decision :) Cheers
