If you don’t want to be weighed down by a traditional heavy touring tent, then the Turbo X-Lite LF will house you on your shorter adventures.
If you can only get away from work for a weekend, then this tent is ideal as it weighs less than its canvas counterparts. The fly provides 2000mm waterhead protection, so you’ll be sheltered in a drizzle, and the Polyester PU Floor is rated to 5000mm to protect against sodden ground.
The frame is comprised of aluminium upright poles and composite roof poles for lightweight durability. The simple front vestibule will save you time compared to a full awning, but it also will offer the same weatherproof storage space outside your tent.
With enough space for four, this tent is perfect for a small family on the move, or the couple that like a spacious shelter when they camp.
The front awning has no eyelets for poles? Is it possible to use poles to raise the front awning to sit underneath it?
G'day Barry,
The vestibule does have eyelets which you can use awning poles with. Check out our Features video on the product page, about the 2:39 mark to see more info.
Hope that helps!
Hi I currently use the EXPLORE PLANET EARTH SPEEDY BLACKHOLE 3-PERSON POP-UP TENT, but am missing the headroom and space to easily sit inside when it’s raining. Have been looking at this Black Wolf vs the oztrail Fast Frame BlockOut Lumos 4P Tent The prices are similar so keen to know if one is recommended over the other, or is there a different one I should look at?
G'day Katy,
We don't neccessarily recommend one over the other, but which one you'd go with depends on your camping style and if additional features are of benefit to you.
The Oztrail Lumos 4P has lots of additional features with the inbuilt lighting, light blockout fly, and loads of internal storage - amongst other things. It's a great weekender, and with the addition of trace spring for the winter months, is a good year round tent.
The X-Lite is a simpler tent in terms of features, but the vestibule areas has versatile configurations, and the frame is more heavy duty. It's a great option if you're looking for a tent that's a bit more suited to high-frequency use or touring, but don't need mod cons.
Hope that helps narrow down your choice!
do you have a video of this tent showing what the front door looks like with poles to be an awning? would it provide adequate space for a chair and table? I want to compare it with the other turbo tents that come with a full awning, but are much heavier
G'day Kelly,
We currently don't have a photo or video with the awning poles set up for this tent, at 3:03 mins in the features video there is a snippet of Ben holding this out just not with the awning poles. You would fit one chair and a small table under this awning, the other Turbo tents have a much larger awning with more space and the option for side walls.
Thanks for your reply. Can you open up all three parts of the awning with poles? or only the middle part?
G'day Kelly,
Just the middle part is recommended to open as an awning.
My Turbo 240 tent stolen and all I have is tourer cap I am wanting to replace tent with the 240 X lite LF Can I use my tourer cap with that tent. Thanks
G'day Barry,
I have just contacted Black Wolf's support team and they have said yes, the Turbo 240 Tourer Cap will fit the Turbo 240 X-Lite LF Tent.
I have had 2 black Wolf Turbo Lite Tents 240 and 240 Plus. I love them in every way until the seams started peeling off and the floor became not waterproof. I have heard other complain of the same issue. Has the new range changed to eliviate that issue. I have treated both with the utmost care.
G'day Judith,
Depending on the age of your tent, seam sealing degrading with time is fairly common with any brand. It's good practice to check the waterproofing of your tent at least once a year, and run through any maintenance required. Check out our video on how to re-waterpoof your tent.
In terms of the flooring, post 2018 tents now have a siliconised/PU floor. The lighter siliconised floor is much easier to manage and makes a big difference when packing away the tent, without compromising on waterproofing or overall durability.
Hope that helps.
Hello, how does this tent compare to a similar size Coleman Northstar taking the high price in consideration? Thank you!
G'day Herb,
The higher price point of the BlackWolf tent is ultimately a reflection of the product you are buying.
The Coleman tents are a great entry level option for the occasional weekend camper, and will last a long time if you care for your gear well. If you camp more often than occasionally and do so year-round, the BlackWolf has the edge in higher quality materials and a stronger frame which generally gives them a longer life span.
Hope that helps.
Is the mesh they use on the door & windows midgee proof?
G'day Chris,
Theres no tent or swag with a Midge Proof promise, as they'll get in between zips and when you open doors, etc but no-see-um mesh in itself has a midge proof claim.
A similar size tent option that has this mesh is the Oztrail 4p Fast Frames, however, the mesh is the only advantage that these tents generally have over the BlackWolf. The materials, build and manufacturing quality of the BlackWolf is just that next step up, as well as the frame structure of the tent being more robust - but the varying price points do reflect this.
I'd say if you're camping on the odd occasion the Oztrail would be ok, but if you camp alot and you're planning on getting lots of use out of your tent for a long time, the BlackWolf would be the way to go if you can manage the Midges - the mesh isn't no-see-um, but it will still be pretty good.
Just buy a usb rechargeable bug zapper and keep it on inside your tent if you are worried.
Hi, does a oztrail easy fold single stretcher fit in this tent with a black wolf hexatherm 3D single mattress on top?
G'day Melissa,
We've tried this out instore, and this combo does fit.
Is the flysheet seam sealed? If it is is it sealed on all the seams or just the major ones?
G'day Andrew,
The Blackwolf Turbo 240 X-Lite LF is a fully waterproof tent, rated to 2000mm. This means that both the tent fly fabric and all the seams are sealed.
Does it come with two awning poles for the fly to be set up with the middle window up? If not, which ones would you recommend to fit it.
G'day Morgan,
The Turbo 240 X-Lite isn't supplied with extra poles for the front awning/door wall. One of our most popular awning poles is the Oztent Alloy Pole. The 190cm option is probably the best option as they will fit in the bag with the tent.
Hi, could you recommend what is the best way to repair small holes in our tent wall? Looks like silverfish have attacked while it has been in storage. Thanks very much for any advice.
G'day Michael,
The easiest and most effective option would be something like Tear Aid Type A and apply a patch to both the inside and the outside of the tent fabric.
The fly for our Turbo 240 X-Lite LF seems to be too small for the tent. Even with the centre patch on the fly as perfectly centred and aligned on the tent hub as we can get it, it is not possible to pull down all the corner patches and Velcro tabs so that they are properly positioned on the pole hinges at the tent corners. Can anyone advise if this is a design issue with this model of tent or whether we have just bought a lemon that happens to have an ill-fitting fly?
G'day William,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the fly on your Turbo 240 X-Lite LF Tent. It sounds to me like you might have a tent with a few issues
Have just used our 240x-lite for the first time after many years of using a turbo lite 240 plus. The door zip would not close fully due to fabric tension created by the aluminium frame that holds out the annexe- had a 20 cm gap. Any suggestions as no adjustments made any difference. As it is tent is not fit for purpose. Was amazed to just read your answer to a question - that the fly touches the ground all the way around - ours is at least 15 cm from the ground all the way around the tent.
G'day Corrie,
Sorry to hear that you are having some troubles with your new Turbo 240 X-Lite LF tent. Your best bet would be to submit a warranty claim and our team can have a look a liaise with Black Wolf to get a solution sorted out for you. Just to confirm the question in regard to the fly coming down to the ground: the previous question that was asked was if the fly comes to the ground, or if it stopped up above the windows like the other models. To clarify, Ben's answer indicates that it comes down to the ground rather than stopping above the windows, but he's not explicitly stating that the fly touches the ground.
These tents look like a nice light weight alternative to the turbo light versions. I'm just wondering how they fare in moderate rain and wind conditions? It gets pretty wet and windy in my part of the country.
G'day Kyles,
The Turbo 240 X-Lite LF tent is a good option for a quick set up. Their frame is slightly different from the Turbo Lite range, but they are still very durable and perform well in most weather conditions. They have a fairly high waterproof rating on the tent floor and fly.
Could you guys possibly do a set up vid on this tent? Failing that, are the composite poles at the top connected a centeral hub or are they separate and need to be threaded through a pocket or clips?
G'day Linda,
Thanks for getting in touch, we don't have a setup video, but I have managed to find one on youtube that Black Wolf
What is the set up time for this time? How does it compare to the set up time of the classical Black Wolf Turbo 240 (canvas)?
G'day Alzina,
The Black Wolf Turbo 240 X-Lite LF sets ups quicker than the Turbo 240 Canvas and Lite models due to the hooded front design. It took our team about 5 minutes to completely set up the X-Lite minus the pegs.
Where can I get a groundsheet for Turbo 240 X-Lite? Many thanks.
G'day Quang,
I've just had a chat with the rep from Black Wolf. He told me that they've not made a groundsheet specifically for the Turbo 240 X-Lite LF. If you get the Groundsheet for the Turbo 240, it'll fit perfectly with the main body of the tent but look a little out the front where the awning is.
Hi, I was just wondering what the waterhead rating was on this tent please? and would it withstand the rigger of a 2 week desert trip?
G'day Jilly,
The Turbo 240 X-Lite LF tent has a 5000mm rated floor and 2000mm rated fly. This tent is durable, and would be more than suitable for a 2-week long desert adventure.
But, it's probably not as tough as it's canvas counterparts - but being a bit lighter and easier to handle, it's a bit of a trade-off, Jilly.
Hi there, I just want to confirm that the 240X-Lite has a fly that goes down to the ground all around - ie isn't just the "roof" like one sees on other Turbos. Plus has it got the capacity/attachments so one can put up stabilising guy ropes off all 4 poles in case of wind?
G'day Juel,
Good news on both fronts with this one. The Black Wolf Turbo 240 X-Lite LF does go down to the ground on all sides and it can have guy ropes attached on each corner.
Hi Snowys, I'm looking for a solid 2-3p tent with my main considerations, besides decent quality, being fast pitch and pack up. I've noticed this 240 X-Lite and it seems to be at the right price point but info is scarce. Does it erect like the rest of the turbo range and is there anything else worth considering ?
G'day Pete,
Yes - it sets up and packs down like other Black Wolf Turbo tents. The important thing to remember however is that the X-Lite framework and fittings are nowhere near as durable as the normal Turbo tents, so we encourage you to take the extra care.
