Many turbo tents are listed as a 4 season tent while a few are listed as a 3 season tent. What the difference between a 3 and 4 season turbo tent?
Will a 3 or 4 season Turbo Tent suffice during cold northern hemisphere winters below freezing with and without snow and ice?
toppin - USA(8 years ago)
G'day Toppin,
The difference in the season rating between the models in the Turbo tent range, is because there are two types - the canvas Turbos and the Turbo Lite tents.Â
The Turbo Lite tents have the same design as their canvas counterparts, but they are made of polyester so they're less heavy duty and more suited to 3 season weather.Â
The canvas material is heavier, and will provide more protection from the elements which is why they are recommended for 3-4 seasons of the year.Â
As for their suitability in below freezing conditions/snow - I'd say temperature wise there would be no problem as these tents are used in the high country of Australia where there is light snow.
But, they are not optimal for heavier snow as the shape of the roof is not designed to shed snow so it may collect - weighing it down and causing the roof to collapse.Â
Similarly, the Turbo canvas range is not designed for very heavy winds - so overall it will have it's limitations in Northern Hemisphere winters.Â

Ive just sold my Turbo 300 as it was too big for a couple, what size would you recommend for 2 people- the 240 or 210?1 answer
Tony - Perth(9 years ago)
Hi Tony, my preference would be the 240. (240 x 240cm) This allows enough room for two to sleep plus a bit extra for some gear. The 210 provides enough space to sleep, but not a whole lot more.

Could this tent be erected and put away using just one arm1 answer
Shan - Cheshunt, Vic.(9 years ago)
Hi Shan, I guess anything is possible with determination. I imagine the setting up and pack away of this tent would be awkward with just one arm, most of it would be possible but I am not sure how you would manage to place pegs, and to roll the tent up to fit back into the bag. I recommend looking at the video on our product page to get a good idea of how the tent is pitched. Let us know if you need any clarification on how these tents operate.

What is a super fly that is suggested goes with the 240 Turbo tent.1 answer
Hello, I see Snowy talk of two types of fly that we may find useful if we buy a 240 Turbo. Can you tell us more about the fly option. I thought the tent came with a fly already ?
John - HOBART, TAS(10 years ago)
Hi John, the Turbo Tents all come with a fly. The Basecamp and Superfly are actually discontinued products, and I have updated our information accordingly. They were designed to extend the living space of a Turbo Tent, and they completely replaced the existing fly. The same result can be achieved with new accessories from Black Wolf such as the extenda awnings, screen rooms and a new range of side panels. These are used as add-ons to the existing fly, rather than completely replacing it.
