Need a roomy yet light shelter for two? Let the Tungsten 2P from Marmot shelter you on your outdoor adventures.
The livable design of the Tungsten uses pre-bent poles and cleverly placed clips to pull out the sides of the tent, which therefore maximizes the interior for extra livability. The seam taped 1500mm waterhead rated fly provides rain coverage, while the 2000mm seam taped floor and additional footprint protect your tent from below.
This tent features DAC Press-fit poles with a velocity 7000 ridge pole and colour coded clips, poles and
Get more use out of your headlamp as a tent light, by hanging it up in the lampshade pocket, for diffused ambient lighting. And, organise your smaller essentials in the interior pockets inside your shelter.
For the couple or lone hiker who likes the extra space to move, the Tungsten 2P is a reliable and spacious tent that you can rely on.
Hi, I'm trying to decide between zempire zeus and the marmot tungsten. I've read the Zeus can be setup in a "fly-only" configuration if I buy the footprint. Can't find any information about that for the Tungsten. Do you know if this is possible with the existing footprint? Or if not could I buy some clips or modify such that it is?
G'day Sum,
Unfortunately there isn't any explicit information from Marmot indicating whether this is possible or not. Having looked at the tent and footprint it appears to be possible, however, there is nothing to anchor the fly to the footprint like there is with the Zempire Zeus, so you'd need to peg through the loops on the corners of the fly that are regularly clipped into the tent body and tensioned.
Hi just wondering if you could tell me if the Helinox cot one fits inside the Marmot Tungsten 2P please?
G'day Kylie,
We don't currently have a display model for either of these to try it out for ourselves, however, we're pretty confident that the Cot ONe will fit in the Tungsten 2P without any hassles if you plan to sleep in the tent solo.
Is the listed weight of 2.4kg including the footprint or is it separate? How much does the footprint weigh? Thanks!
G'day Nana,
The full brand new weight of the total Marmot Tungsten 2P, including swing tags, etc is 2.6kg with the footprint weight approx 180g.
Hope that helps!
I just need to know if the MarmotTungsten 2P Hiking Tent will withstand heavy rain without getting wet inside I know the zempire Zeus has the highest rain resistance but I don't like the fact that the zempire has no no see um mesh I don't want to have to be spraying myself and the tent with insect repellent all night as they love me and eat me alive so will the MarmotTungsten 2P Hiking Tent withstand a good downpour without waking up in a swimming pool
G'day Steve,
Feel free to give us a call if you wanted to chat, however I'm not too sure how much more I can tell you. You can find out more about Waterhead Ratings here. 1500mm is a fairly standard rating for lightweight hiking tents, and they will be able to withstand most wet weather, however continual heavy rain may sneak through, so if you're likely to experience a lot of very wet weather then the Zempire might be a better option.
I had the older green version of this tent and can confirm it is definitely waterproof as we were in torrential rain/storms for a couple of days. Had a few minor condensation issues with the tent fully enclosed to combat the rain but that was to be expected in the conditions & 2 of us in the tent.
I've also seen a Marmot Catalyst 2person tent. Are these one and the same as they seem to have similar specs? Or what are the differing features?
G'day Mark,
The Catalyst and Tungsten are two slightly different models and have slightly different features. The Catalyst is a little lighter as it has more internal mesh and is slightly smaller, with slightly smaller vestibules. Both tents are excellent options, with slightly different features.
How small can this go? I saw on another website it can go down to 46x18x18. Can you please confirm?
G'day AC,
The Tungsten 2P comes in a fairly loose bag, so you could compact it down a little, however we base our dimensions on the bag size. You could make the diameter a little smaller, but the length is limited by the pole lengths.
Some small holes after borrowed
G'day Jo,
There is a possibility that we can source a replacement fly for the Tungsten 2P Hiking Tent, however, we'd have to double-check with the supplier. Can you please send us an email in response to this and we can check in with them on Monday for you.
We've double-checked with the supplier, and unfortunately, replacement flys for the Tungsten 2P Hiking tent aren't available.
The Zeus with footprint comes in at $10 more. They look very similar. But how do these compare in terms of waterproofing, quality and durability of the fabrics and poles, roominess, etc.? Or are there any other points of difference? Thanks!
G'day Leigh,
Thanks for getting in touch, both the Tungsten 2P and Zeus tents are great options. It's definitely worth using the compare function on our website as that will help you to compare the tents. Size side their sleeping area is very similar, with only a few cms in each direction different. The Inner, Floor and Fly material on the Tungsten is a little thinner and therefore leads to the less overall weight. The waterproof rating on the Zeus is much higher, partially due to the heavier weight material, and therefore the heavier packed weight. We think both models are great so your decision probably comes down to overall weight.
Hi. I’ve got both tents. Using home scales I get have Tungsten weighing a bit over 2.6kg (with footprint) and the Zeus 2.9kg. Tungsten poles and pegs a bit heavier at 710g versus Zeus 695g. But the Zeus has 10 pegs versus 6 for the Tungsten which seems a bit tight (I’d rather carry 8). The bag, footprint(Tungsten only), tent and fly are Tungsten 1910g and Zeus 2230g. The Tungsten doesn’t have compression straps (loose or for the tent bag). We split the weight between us and kids so if I had to choose just one I’d go Zeus. But we bought the Tungsten second as it can go lighter (without footprint) - 2.4 vs. 2.9kg.
The included images show both orange/grey and green.
G'day Sandra,
The Marmot Tungsten 2P Hiking Tent now just comes in the Orange Blaze Steel Colour. The Green colour has been discontinued so I will ask the team to remove that image from the listing to avoid confusion.
It's hot up here...
G'day Cameron,
Yep, you can pitch the Marmot Tungsten without the fly for use in warmer weather.
Hi Snowys, for a while now I have been researching tents & keep coming back to the Marmot ones that I like the best. However I’m a bit confused about the differences between the Tungsten & the Limelight. I’ve watched a few YouTube vids and both look very similar to one another & they are also similar in size & weight. The Limelight is more expensive so what does it have the Tungsten doesn’t & what are the other major differences?
G'day Heather,
I can see how that would be the case as the specs do look very similar so it can be difficult to tell the difference between the two.
To put it as simply as possible, what sets the Limelight apart from the Tungsten, is that the Limelight has a larger internal volume. If you check out the 4th image on the Limelight's product page, you can see how the bend in the poles is a lot higher, which creates almost vertical walls. This makes it a very roomy tent for its size and weight.
The Limelight also has one very large door (and another smaller one) which makes it very easy to get in and out of.
If you're just going to be sleeping in your tent on shorter expeditions, the Tungsten is a great choice. But, if you're going to be basically living in it on extended trips, you will appreciate the internal volume of the Limelight.
Hi water size ropes (diameter - mm) are the guylines? I need to get replacements and want them to be as close as possible to the originals.
G'day Nobunaga,
I've just measured the guy ropes on the Marmot Tungsten 2P Hiking Tent for you. As well as I could measure using my tape measure, they're around the 3mm mark.
Does this come is a green without the bright coloured logo and strip on the door? Thanks
G'day Steve,
I've just had a peek at the stock that we have of the Tungsten 2P and it looks like we only have this tent in the green colour shown on the website, which has the brighter coloured logo/strip on the door.
