An Australian made and very solid tripod for traditional cooking over the campfire, the Hillbilly tripod comes in two sizes with the larger size featuring extendable legs.
Let’s set some expectations though, Hillbilly make gear functional and unbreakable, but it’s not pretty. Made with heavy-duty steel and touched up with paint to keep the rust at bay, rest assured that whilst this tripod may look a little rough around the edges, it’s one of the toughest you can buy.

What is the highest you can have a 12 inch boudorie oven up off the ground please, in mm please
Ian - North Curl Curl, NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Ian,
Great question! I've had a play with the setup instore, and if you set the hook up on the highest chain link, and set the tripod legs wide enough to fit around the 12" Bedourie, the absolutely maximum height from the ground to the base of the camp oven is 430mm.

How are the extendable legs locked in place?1 answer
Friction, a rod through a hole, or something else?
Daniel - Perth(4 years ago)
G'day Daniel,
You should be able to see in images 3-5 the small loop screws on each leg, these can be tightened to lock the leg lengths in place.

Hillbilly fire pit1 answer
Will this go over the hillbilly fire pit?
Simon - Armadale(5 years ago)
We've tried this before, Simon, and whilst it does go over the top, the legs need to be really wide and it is a little unstable.
So it can be done but we don't recommend it.

Is the chain height adjustable 1 answer
Hi can you change the length of the chain that the hillbilly camp oven hangs on.
Anne - Ferntree Gully (7 years ago)
G'day Anne,
There are two things you can do to adjust the height on the Hillbilly Heavy Duty Tripod.
Firstly - you can adjust the hook to sit it whatever loop of the chain you require to get the best height for whatever you're cooking.
Secondly - you can shorten the length of the chain by looping it around the top of the tripod.

how much weight doea the 1.6m takes1 answer
MY neigbour is looking for a replacement tripod. he does goulash parties and his pot and content is about 15kg.
how much weight does the 1.6m takes?
thierry - FERNY GROVE, QLD(9 years ago)
Hi Thierry, there is no weight rating on these but they are made of steel, and I can't flex the legs at all. As long as the nuts on the extension legs are done up tightly there shouldn't be a problem with hanging 15kg of goulash over the fire.
