The Spot Trace uses satellite-based tracking, so in theory, will be able to provide you with a location anywhere in the world. You may be able to purchase one at a retailer locally to you, however, Snowys only has brick and mortar stores in Adelaide and Brisbane. G'day John,
I've just double checked the specifications in the user guide, and Spot suggest you mount the unit with the logo pointed toward the sky under fibreglass, fabric or glass, metal obstructions should be avoided. It's up to you where you mount it, but I would mount it somewhere inconspicuous, but also somewhere you can get to and replace the batteries when needed.
