If you like the idea of a touring tent, but you just find you don’t get out there as much as you’d like – the Fast Frame range from OZtrail will give you that space and easy setup, but without the strain on your bank balance.
The Fast Frame 300 has a strong steel pole frame with durable non-corrosive plastic hubs and reinforced peg and guy rope points for stability. The inner tent and fly is made from light and durable polyester that protects from UV rays and helps to make this tent completely waterproof. The heat taped seams and PVC coated polyester bucket floor with laminated welded corners will keep you dry in wet and windy weather conditions – so there’ll be no damp and disgruntled campers in sight.
Each window has a storm flap that can be shut with Velcro which will keep out wind-driven rain. You’ll also get plenty of airflow from the No-See-Um mesh which will prevent any insects from making a surprise appearance inside your tent. To set up simply lay it flat, unfold the knuckles, extend the legs out, add the fly over the top and then set up the awning and you’re good to go!
Sleeps 6 Adults
Mesh and Fabric zippered panels on the D-shaped door
No-see-um mesh for insect protection
Side and front walls to enclose front awning are available separately
Power cord access point, light attachment point, wall organizer pocket, media storage pouch and loft organizer
How is the build quality of the Fast Frame compares to the Coleman Instant Up tent in terms of frame structure & material? Which one would you recommend? I noticed this tent has only a partial fly instead of full fly like the Coleman, would that be an issue with in wet weather? I do like the awning feature though.

G'day Paul,
The frames on the Tourer Fast Frame and Coleman Instant Up tents are fairly similar, with steel pole sections and plastic hubs and elbows. In terms of the fly material, they're fairly similar, but as you say the full fly on the Instant Up might be a better option in the rain. We've not had much feedback on the Fast frame so it's difficult to say how they perform in wet weather sorry.

How do you close off the front door to the weather (ie driving rain)?1 answer
Closely inspecting the first photo it looks like you may have option to zipper a door from the inside. Is this correct? Does that mean the mesh screen would be very wet and would drip into tent once you 'opened the front door'? Must you always have the awning pegged up? FYI I am making comparisons with Coleman Instant Up 6 person tent. We own Coleman Instant Up 10 person and are very happy with it. Need something smaller.

G'day Kerrie,
The front awning on the Tourer 300 Fast Frame Tent will need always be extended. There is an internal fabric panel on the front door so you should have fairly adequate weather protection. In comparison to the Coleman Instant Up 6P Tent we'd say this one is a little less flexible in terms of weather options.

No more plus?2 answers
I was keen as can be on the 300 plus in the tourer range, but seems it has been discontinued.
We do camp in Winter, so unfortunately the Cruiser 300 plus is not suitable.
In your opinion, would a family of 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 10yo) fit comfortable enough in just the 300? We usually run a Queen mattress and two singles.

G’day Jules,
That’s right, for this season (at least) the 300 size is not available in the Tourer Fast Frame Series.
Just from looking at the sleeping dimensions, it would seem that the 300 is too small as it’s 280L x 280L – so I don’t think you would be able to fit both a queen mattress and two singles in there.
I would recommend cracking out a tape measure and checking the size of your mats (and other gear you want to keep inside your tent) and then perhaps looking at the 420 or 450 and comparing those dimensions to the interior sizes of those tents - as that will give you a better idea of whether it will suit your family.

Can I please trouble you to find out from the supplier if there will be a replacement model for the 300 PLUS? 1 answer

G'day Joe,
The Fast Frame Tourer range only comes in the 240, 300, 420 and 450 sizes. If you've got your heart set on the 300 plus size, Oztrail do a similar model in the Cruiser Fast Frame range which is a little different in that it is built for tropical conditions, and has a partial fly instead of a full fly.Â

Hi, 1) may I know how is the new models different to the ones it is replacing, other than the color? 2) and does the new range have the 300 PLUS equivalent model in the new range? 1 answer

G'day Joe,
I've just compared the 2016 and 2017 models from the information provided from the supplier and I've found that there have been a few tweaks and upgrades to the Fast Frame Tourer range.
The floor of the 2017 model has laminated welded corners (as opposed to stitching) on the high stress points of the floor which is an extra layer of protection from water. The material of the floor has changed from Polyethelene to PVC Coated Polyester and the seams are now elevated as well. And, this model now has a clear plastic media storage pouch, wall organizer pocket and loft organiser.Â
And as for the 300 plus -Â far as I can find there is just the 300 size in this range.Â
