Does the awning zip to the vestibule if you don't want to use it ? or does it just peg to the ground?

The awning in the photos is actually the tent doorway. Similar to other tents, if you don't want this flap up as an awning, you zip it shut.

No, the internal tent is mainly mesh, with two large D-shaped doors in the front and rear. If you're needing some privacy, you'll need to zip up the external window covers on the fly of the tent.
