Dometic tailgate air tent1 answer
Will this tailgate tent fir a 4WD? I have a 2023 ford Everest, and this would be just what I'm looking for if it is big enough. I can`t see dimensions for the tailgate Height. Cheers Carmel
Carmel - Hamilton, VIC(4 months ago)
G'day Carmel,
The product photos do show it set up with a LandRover Defender, so you wont have any issues using it with other 4WD's. The head height internally is 210cm, so we'd guess another 10cm or so for the external height of the tent.

Vehicle type1 answer
Is this suitable for use on camper vans? E.g Volkswagen T3 or hiace?
Michael - Adelaide, SA(5 months ago)
G'day Michael,
Going off some online measurements of the Hiace and Volkswagen T3, it looks like the back doors would mostly be between the connection width of 1600mm - 2200mm. As long as it isn't any higher than 2200mm, this Tent should connect well to any vans or campers.

Tailgater Air SUV tent1 answer
Is an inflating pump included.or what do I need to inflate?
Ann - Murwillumbah, NSW(7 months ago)
G'day Ann,
This tent does include a Dometic Hand Pump to inflate the air poles. The pump has a pressure gauge and each AirPole should be inflated to between 6 -8 psi.

Floor1 answer
Does the Tailgater awning have a floor attached? Is the footprint something that goes under the floor like with other tents?
Deborah - Baulkham Hills, NSW (7 months ago)
G'day Deborah,
The tailgater does have a floor attached, it's a full bucket floor tent. You can use the footprint as an optional extra to help protect the floor if you are camping in rough or rocky areas, or to help keep the floor dry for an easier pack up.

Tailgater Air use without vehicle1 answer
hi, there are some occasions where I’d like to use the tent without a vehicle, is this possible.
Steve - Perth, WA(9 months ago)
G'day Steve,
Yes, the Tailgater can be used as a stand-alone tent, you'll just have to find a way to anchor the vehicle valance - but that shouldn't cause too much trouble.

How waterproof1 answer
Does the Tailgater come with a fly or is it not required because it won’t leak
Jennifer - Singleton, NSW(12 months ago)
G'day Jennifer,
The Tailgater doesn't come with a fly as the tent material has a water-repellant PU coating over its entire surface and the main seams of your tent have been factory taped to help prevent leakage. The fabric used to make this tent has a massive 6000 mm hydrostatic head, so it is extremely unlikely that it would leak.
Dometic have stated that in conditions where rainfall is expected to exceed 30 mm in 24 hour period, there may be a potential for leakage to occur.
This Tent will also need to be weathered/seasoned before use. The weathering process tightens the fabric, and allows the cotton in the sewing thread to swell and fill the holes made by the sewing needle during the manufacturing process. By following this process before your initial use, will ensure that your tent weatherproofing will improve with subsequent soaking.
Any concerns that with a breeze the material can rub the tailgate affecting the paintwork/.
BC - Sydney, NSW(1 year ago)
G'day BC,
Once this is attached to your vehicle securely you shouldn't get too much movement in the material, the material is a soft polyester and shouldn't be a concern for damage to your paintwork. There is a YouTube video by Dometic on How To Operate Your Tailgater AIR which shows some more info on set-up and how it attaches to your vehicle.

Tailgater AIR Inflatable SUV Tent by Dometic 1 answer
Is theTailgater AIR Inflatable SUV Tent by Dometic suitable for a Tesla y using the camping mode for heating and cooling temperature control? Are the seams sealed?
Kerry - Brendale Bc, QLD (1 year ago)
G'day Kerry,
I'm not sure what you're talking about with the Tesla and camping mode sorry. This SUV tent will just fit over the back of your vehicle, and be attached with a range of tensionable straps. All the major seals are seam sealed, and Dometic have provided a 6000mm water head rating.
