Sometimes the best part of going on a camping trip is turning off your phone, burrowing down in your blankets and having a good old sleep in. However, you can’t do that if you’re woken up at the crack of dawn by the sun shining into your eyes. Luckily OZtrail
The bedrooms on the Sportiva 8 use a light blocking, dark coloured inner which helps to reduce the amount of light that comes into your tent for easier mornings. You can breeze in and out of the Sportiva with ease, as the generous head height of the tent means no stooping. There is also No-See-Um mesh on all the windows and doors to stop creepy crawlies and allow for fresh air to circulate.
The doors feature both a mesh and solid zippered panels, so you can adjust your shelter depending on what the weather is like. On a windy night, you won’t be woken up by the sound of jangling zips as these ones are made with flexible cord pull tabs – perfect for light sleepers. The floor is made from durable bucket design PE floor will keep you dry from the ground up, and the storm flaps, taped seams and Silver Coated UVTex waterproof fly will keep the tent dry. If you’re in need of some shade, the awnings on each side of the tent will allow you some protection when the weather is sunny.
I can't see any guy ropes in the pics, does the tent have them?
G'day John,
Yes, the Oztrail Sportiva 8 Dome Tent comes with guy ropes, they are attached directly to the fly sheet in the top corners.
How long do you think this might take a couple of new campers to erect?
G'day Ingrid,
We'd generally suggest allowing yourself 30 or so minutes to erect the Sportiva 8 Dome Tent the first time, and maybe a little longer if you're new campers. After you've done it a few times though you'll be able to whip through it super fast!
What heavy duty pegs would you suggest for a tent this size, the terrain I am looking at is varied from sand to soft soil to dense rocky mixed dirt. Any ideas? Thanks
G'day Trent,
If you're looking for some good all-round pegs that will suit you in many different environments, then I would probably suggest going for some Hex Pegs.
Are the awning poles includes a certain type that you can buy seperatly or can you suggest suitable poles that I can buy seperatly
G'day Trent,
The awning poles are included with the Oztrail Sportiva 8 Dome Tent.
I've been thinking for a while about purchasing a Sportiva 9 for a birthday Campout I've been doing for a couple of years but I've recently come around to the fact that since I'll only be using it for myself and one friend and after just be using by myself that I should buy the sportiva 8 because it seems to have a quicker set up then the 9 especially if it's a one man job and I think that the 8 would be more space wise for one person especially since it'll only be an odd weekend camp tent but I like the idea of a three room tent what should I get?
G'day Trent,
I agree fully with your thoughts there. I reckon the Oztrail Sportiva 8 would suit you better than the Sportiva 9. It will be easier for you to set up, is lighter and will still have more than enough space for you and your mate when you go together.
Does the Sportiva 8 dome have light blocking - the description means the Sportiva 9??
G'day Jenny,
I've just sussed this out for you & yes, the Oztrail Sportiva 8 Dome Tent comes with a light-blocking inner which helps keep the sunlight out.
Does the light blocking inner cover the whole tent (both rooms) or just part of the tent? Thank you
G'day Gloria,
The light blocking inner only covers the bedroom which is the left half of the tent. You can see this in the second image on the webpage (the black fabric).
Is the light blocking NiteRoom technology through the whole tent, or just one room/side of the tent? Thanks
G'day Gloria,
The light blocking inner only covers the bedroom which is the left half of the tent. You can see this in the second image on the webpage (the black fabric).
Hi. I have pre ordered this tent. I would like to have an idea of when it may be in stock.
G'day Emma,
I have some good news. Our website was having a bit of a fizz over the weekend and was asking you to pre-order, when in fact we actually have stock available. Your Oztrail Sportiva 8 tent should be dispatched to you today. Sorry for the confusion.
Totally awesome. That is even better than I hoped for. Hope you have a great Christmas coz ours is gonna rock the great outdoors now!
The sleeping area here says: 220L x 230W cm. For 8 people the area is larger?
G'day Tzong,
While the Oztrail Sportiva 8 Dome Tent can be occupied by 8 sleeping people, we recommend the tent for 4 sleeping people plus a living area because of its design and layout. Because of this, we have adapted the sleeping area dimensions. To give you a clearer idea of what I mean, you can refer to the blueprint in the images. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense.
Hi, When can I get the product if I pre-order now? Thanks,
G'day Jen,
We're expecting to have the Oztrail Sportiva 8 Dome Tent in the store again within the next week.
Hi its looks like there are maybe 4 doors? Also is it right that the sportiva range is the top end range of oztrail? Many thanks Ben
G'day Beb,
You're right - the Oztrail Sportiva 8 does have 4 doors. I wouldn't say that it's their top end range, simply a different range to other models. It very much depends on the style of tent, rather than the quality of tent with Oztrail.
I cannot find any reviews of this model anywhere, is it new? I am looking for a roomy, comfortable tent for one person to stay in for 2 for three weeks at a time, not too bulky to carry in the car and possible for one person to pitch.
G'day Jenny,
There is no windproof rating for tents like this so it's easiest to think about aerodynamics. Tents with many flat sides and angles tend to catch the wind more than domed and curved frame tents so in this sense, the Sportiva would be easily caught in any gusts, however, the Duraplus Fibreglass/steel frame is pretty durable.
In regards to tent recommendations, I would suggest giving our friendly team a call (1300 914 007) to discuss your options as it's often easier to talk through your requirements to find the best thing for you.
Does this tent come with any awning poles?
G'day Steve,
2x Awning Poles for the Oztrail Sportiva 8 are included.
Could you please let me know if the current specification on the website are correct for this tent, because on the manufacturer website it says that the tent weights 17.7kg against 20.3kg on your website. And also what is the length of warranty? Is it 2 year as per oztrail website or 1 year as it is specified on your website?
G'day Igor,
We've made a mistake here. Our apologies. The weight and warranty are per Oztrail's website - 17.7kg and 2 years. We'll look to correct our website this morning.
We currently have a tent with framework that is pre attached to the tent. It has a central hub and goes up in less than 10 minutes. I am interested to know if this tent is also an "instant up" tent.
G'day Catharina.
The Oztrail Sportiva 8 Dome Tent uses fibreglass and steel poles that need to be connected and then attached. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit into the 'instant up' category.
