The Explore Planet Earth Speedy Sahara Touring Tent has all the features of the regular Speedy tents, but also features extra durability and breathability thanks to a durable poly cotton fly, dual entrances, a side power cord entry and extendable front and rear awnings.

A perfect no fuss touring tent, the Speedy Sahara Tent has an all-in-one construction which means the fly, floor and inner all pitch together in seconds, all you need to do is place a few pegs in the ground.

Windows on each side can be rolled open on warm nights, or zipped closed in adverse weather leaving two lower vents that still enable adequate ventilation. Complete with pegs, guy ropes and a handy backpack carry bag with pockets for extra gear, the EPE Speedy Sahara Tent guarantees less time spent setting up camp, and more time taking in the great outdoors.

Do you sell anything that would be suitable as a groundsheet for this tent? Being oval, I am not sure what to use

G'day Mel,

We'd recommend the Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp in the 2.44m x 2.44m size. Unfortunately, there is nothing available in an oval shape, but this tarp should do the trick as it will offer good protection for your tent while also allowing any moisture and fine dirt to fall through. There will just be some excess around the corners which you can either peg through or tuck underneath.

Will my sleeping mats fit in this tent?1 answer

G'day. I have two Thermarest self inflating mats: each of them measure 203 cm (L) x 76 cm (W) x 10 cm (H) for a combined sleeping surface of 203 cm (L) x 152 cm (W) x 10 cm (H). I understand that two Exped Megamat 10 LXWs (similar dimensions) fit in this tent however, the Thermarests are slightly longer. Judging by the floor plan measurements that you have supplied, my mats SHOULD fit nicely side by side however, I was hoping that you may be able to provide me with some confirmation while considering the curvature of this tent's inner walls and floor. ie. Would this particular tent be compatible with my mat set or, would I require the larger EPE Speedy 4? Thank you

G'day Andrew,

Technically they would fit with some room left however as you say, with the curved edges of this particular tent there is a chance that it would be tight. The inside dimensions are very generous and there would be an additional 17cm of length and around half metre of width so I think that it should fit OK.

I've just had a chat with the supplier, and they've said that the inner and fly of the Speedy Sahara Pop Up Tent is made of the same material, which is 40 denier Rip-Stop Polyester.Â

Hi I just purchased this tent while in store I asked what the advantages of the two types of tent material I ended up going with this one for durability but in the process of watching youtube on how to fold ......got there in the end i noticed that this tent has a lower waterproofing rate nos im second guessing my choice thoughts. Wasnt told this difference at time of purchase. Also I ve noticed it recommends the use of a ground sheet is there a danger of water pooling under the tent.

Hi Bernice, while the polycotton and polyester pop up tents have different waterhead ratings both styles of tents are waterproof. If you compare this model to our high-end hiking tents, many will have the same waterhead rating as the Sahara. In general we always recommend using a tarp with every tent to protect the floor from abrasive ground. You wonâ€™t get any water pooling underneath the Sahara unless you incorrectly set it up on very uneven ground during a heavy downpour. G'day Richard - Sure is. As you're probably aware this tent comes with the two awning poles. Something like the Darche Swag Awning Alloy Pole Set (#46322) would work well as a secondary set. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

Hi Jason, the main advantage of the Speedy Sahara lies in its durability. The polycotton material will withstand use on rough ground better than the nylon on other Speedy tents, this also makes it heavier. If you were to use it for touring, the Sahara would be a better option. That being said it is not quite as waterproof, but you wold have to be in some serious rain events to notice the difference.

There is only one size available in the Speedy Sahara sorry Jason. However, it is quite a tight 3 person tent, so it would be quite suitable for two people.

Hi Michael, apart form variances in dimensions as well as the front and rear awnings on the Sahara, the key differences between the Speedy Tent and the Speedy Sahara Tent is the fabric. The Sahara is made of Ripstop PU Polycotton (lightweight canvas) rather than a 190T polyester (synthetic). This makes the Speedy Sahara a more durable tent than the standard Speedy pop-up range.

Hi team, I am keen on purchasing one of these Sahara tents, but am finding slightly different versions to be available. Hi Tim, we have just received the latest and greatest Speedy Sahara tents last week, and the colours are different to both of the images you mention in your question. I have updated the product stats to reflect the new product, and I am waiting on a current image. It is predominantly grey with an ochre colour along the pole covers and zipper rainflaps. The fabrics are heavier duty with a ripstop thread now, and an awning at the front.
