I would like to know if this tent has any fire retardants or chemicals sprayed on the canvas or parts of the tent for waterproofing or fire protection?
G'day Laura,
The EPE Speedy Earth 4 doesn't explicitly state that they have a fire retardant material sprayed on the fabric. They do indicate that the fabric is teflon coated which helps to reduce water pooling on the fabric, but unfortunately, there is no information available regarding fire protection.
What happens to the floor frame if the ground isn't level or if the ground is uneven or has dips/holes?
G'day Deb,
We'd suggest trying to find an even, flat piece of ground if you can, but if you can't the floor with fairly naturally mould around undulations. We'd suggest removing large rocks and sticks from the frame area, but small undulations shouldn't cause a problem.
Just wondering if you need a fly or not with this tent. I am looking at tents that are super quick to set up and pack down. Cheers.
G'day David,
The Explore Planet Earth Speedy range doesn't have an optional fly like some of the other tent brands. They don't need a fly but in very cold or humid conditions you might need to consider condensation. There are lots of options for ventilation in this tent so we're pretty confident you'll be ok.
I notice that this tent is one of the only pop-up style tents that has a mid tie-down point for guy ropes (above the side tent windows). This is pivotal in withstanding gusts of wind. Has any tests been carried out in windy conditions for this tent? Coleman apparently have tested their pop-up tents, and i must say the results are very optimistic when compared to real-life setups.
G'day Bill,
We're not aware of any formal wind testing on the Explore Planet Earth Speedy 4 Earth Tent, no.
Hi, is the photo with the bed taken in it the Speedy-4 or the Speedy-6?
G'day Luke,
That photo is of the Speedy 4. It's a pretty spacious tent with 2.4 x 2.4 metres of room.
Can this tent be set up by a single person?
G'day Melissa,
Absolutely, it's possible. Obviously, it's a lot easier to have a second person, but you should be able to set up the Explore Planet Earth Speedy 4 Earth Tent on your own with no worries.
