Get your sleeping quarters set up in seconds with the Explore Planet Earth Speedy 2 Person Tent. The Speedy has been revamped to include an integrated Intents LED lighting system on the inside of the tent, all you do is hook it up to an optional standard USB power bank or USB battery adapter. You’ll never have to fumble in the dark again!
To set up you simply take the Speedy Tent out of its carry bag and pop it open. The all-in-one construction means the fly, floor and inner pitch together, so all you need to do is place a few pegs in the ground. This model uses resin poles which are stronger and more malleable than their competition, which means they’re as easy to set up as they are to pack away.
The windows can be rolled open on warm nights or zipped closed in adverse weather leaving two vents that still provide plenty of

Does the exped megamat 10 fit inside the Speedy 2 pop up?
G'day Rog,
Thanks for your enquiry. Both the Exped Megamat 10 LXW and Duo will fit into the Speedy 2 Pop Up Tent. The length of the mats are just a couple of centimetres short of the total length of the sleeping area which is 2m, so it will be a bit tight but it does fit. The LXW is 77cm in width so you'll have plenty of space inside the tent. The Duo is 130cm in width and will take up most of the floor space. I hope this helps.
We need to come back and correct ourselves here sorry, the curved ends of the Speedy 2 actually make the fitting of large mats like this difficult. The Speedy 2 is more akin to the dimensions of a hiking tent and will fit a couple of hiking mats or a medium sized camping mat. For more information check out the article we wrote here - https://www.snowys.com.au/blog/which-sleeping-mats-will-fit-in-my-pop-up-tent/.
Is this suitable to hike with? I need an easy lite weight tent to take on a 14 day hike for emergencies.
G'day Liz,
The Speedy 2 Pop Up tent weighs 3kg, however, it won't be suitable to take hiking as it packs into a large 100cm diameter flat disk. You'd be better off maybe carrying just a lightweight fly or similar as an emergency shelter.
I am looking at this tent for a quick one night trip. I would like to know if it will stay dry inside if it rains
G'day Alzina,
Yes - the EPE Speedy's have a waterproof rating of 3000m on the fly and 2000m for the floor. Laine :)
Is it easy to fold up ? It looks it on the video but is it in reality?
G'day Allison,
The Explore Planet Earth Speedy 2 Pop Up Tent has a diameter of about 75cm when packed away. I'd be a little nervous about squeezing it into an oval shape, if you snap one of the poles, then you mind find yourself up the creek when you arrive without a working tent. As for the ease of pack up. Very few people do it that easily on their first attempt, it does take a little practice but once you get the hang of it, it packs down real easy.
Both of these tents are a similar concept as far as design goes - which would be your recommyand why?
G'day John,
We recommend both, they're an equally fantastic tent. Their only major difference is the manufacturer and some features of the tents (eg. door direction).
Hello, have you got one of these out of its bag and set up to check it out. From the photo it seems the door is not as inclined as the old model and may therefore be just a touch more roomy or am I imagining it. Would like the smallest tent that would fit a 185cm long gent, quick to set up in the dark and fairly rain proof. Is this the one for me or do I need the next model up. Thanks
Hi Peter, the dimensions are the same as the old model speedy. It is just the photos from different angles that trick the eye. At 185 cm you will just fit into the 200cm long inner space, but a Speedy 3 person will offer that extra level of space and comfort.
No you will not fit in this tent. I’m 173cm and am touching the ends a little too much. The roundish shape of the floor means there’s really no advantage running diagonal. Dead centre a 1 regular closed cell fits perfectly, how two would fit is a mystery to me. Really well built tent, but too short for average Australian height.
Yeah, good feedback, thanks, Tom. The curved edges of the pop-up tents to impede on the internal space. We always recommend treating the two-person as a 1, the three-person as a two and the four-person as a three to make sure you have
