Sure, boiling pasta, chewing your way through muesli bars and chowing down on some rehydrated meals is totally adequate. But is it the same as a hearty brekkie of bacon and eggs, or some grilled veggies and meat for dinner? Absolutely not.
Add a Single Grill Plate from Gasmate to a portable cooker, and you’ve got (almost) everything you need for a grilled meal when you’re off the grid. The non-stick coated aluminium surface will ensure that you won’t have smeared or burnt food, and it’s easy to clean which means more time relaxing, and less time washing up.
The Single Grill Plate from Gasmate is an excellent addition to your outdoor cooking set up and lets you create delicious, simple grilled meals.

What heat setting to use? 1 answer
Hi. I'm hearing a few stories about how some people are using these and they are warning, the rest think they are great. Is there a recommended heat setting to use to cook with this hotplate? Like low to medium instead of high (which might be what is warping the hotplates for some).
Kyles - Warrnambool, VIC(2 years ago)
G'day Kyles,
These hotplates are designed for use with the portable butane canisters (like spray paint/hair spray cans) that have a maximum BTU around 8,000. If you are sticking to the intended use with these stoves, there won't be any issues and you can use at any setting. It's not recommended that these are used with any other stoves.

RE: Single Grill Plate1 answer
Can this be used on the Gasmate Voyager BBQ? If so would it be the right fit?
Anita - Karnup, WA(5 years ago)
G'dau Anita,
The Single Grill Plate isn't compatible with the Voyager BBQ sorry. The Voyager BBQ is only designed to be used with the one grill plate and one flat plate as supplied.

Gasmate V's Hillbilly1 answer
Hi there, I can't decide between this and the Hillbilly! The Hillbilly looks a better quality obviously, but I'm assuming is pretty heavy? One is bigger than the other I think.
I want to add one to my camping kit in lieu of a big frypan for the big breakfast cookups.
As an aside, I'm also buying the Hillbilly egg cooking dishes too.
Virginia - FORTITUDE VALLEY(5 years ago)
G'day Virginia,
Of course, it's totally your decision mate but I'd go the Hillbilly primarily because if I'm not cooking with cast iron, blue steel is my next choice. It's absolutely a matter of personal preference but I tend to avoid cooking with coated aluminum. Having said that however, aluminum is a lot lighter. The Hillybilly plate weighs in at just over a kg compared to the 0.40kg of the Gasmate. Yes, their sizes are pretty on par, although the Hillbilly is slightly larger. The Hillbilly also comes with the foldaway handle which I think is a big bonus! Hope that helps a little with the decision making :)

Too big for classic II??1 answer
Would this work with the gasmate classic II stove? Or too big for the smaller double burner stoves?
Christine - Brisbane (5 years ago)
G'day Christine,
I've tried this out for you and I can confirm that the Single Grill Plate will fit on the Classic II stove. They're ideally designed for the Portable butane canister style stoves, but it shouldn't be a problem on the Classic II as long as the temperature isn't too high.

Use with Coleman hyperflame1 answer
Do you think it is possible to use this with the Coleman hyperflame? I only wanted a half size plate and it appears that the swap top plate that is designed for the hyperflame is full size.
Gareth - Hobart(6 years ago)
G'day Gareth,
At 24cm square and 1cm high, the Gasmate Single Grill Plate is definitely a smaller fit on the Coleman HyperFlame and I don't reckon you could cook much more than half a dozen snags at a time. However, it is just big enough to cover the flame surround on the stove so you could still use it without any safety issues. If you're wanting to fit it side by side with the HyperFlame Grill Plate though, the two don't really sit comfortably together due to the size difference, but otherwise, no worries :)
