Hey, what is the max amp draw? ie, what size fuse/relay would you recommend? thanks
G'day Samuel,
You'll find all of the nitty-gritty details in the user manual that can be downloaded in the product details section. Dometic specifies you should make sure that a professional fuse is installed between the positive pole ( ) and the inverter - the MSI412 requires a 40 A fuse.
hey, thank you.
Does this have a power isolating switch - so the inverter does not drain the battery when not being used. Or what is the minimum power draw from this unit when idle?
G'day John,
Yes, the inverter has a switch on the front that should be turned off when not in use. You can also have an auto-electrician install a secondary inline external switch if you wanted to.
Will it power a jug from our 12v battery & battery box?
G'day James,
There is a 350W continuous limit on the 412 inverter, with a 700W peak. Most kettles will draw 1500-200W so unfortunately not, you'll be best sticking with a 12V kettle.
Is it a pure sine wave or just a sine wave inverter? I need to protect a Mac laptop which would cost a lot to replace.
G"day Laz,
Dometic specifies that the MSI 412 is a Pure Sine Wave Inverter, so has been designed with laptops in mind.
Are these inverters safe to leave running constantly? I'm looking to run a small bar fridge and internet router
The device is intended for vehicle use so if you are powering a fridge and router within your campsite from your vehicle, then you will be fine, provided you are maintaining 350W or less of constant output power.
If you are referring to some sort of permanent fixture in your house that is constantly running devices, then you may void the warranty should you run into any problems.

fuse integrated ?
G'day Logan,
I'm guessing you might mean surge protection? Hopefully, I can direct you to the answer you're after, if you download the operating manual (at the bottom of the specifications, above the reviews), and head over to section 7 on page 10 & 11 there is information regarding ensuring that a professional fuse is installed between the positive pole and inverter on connection.
Is this suitable to use with a camping fridge/freezer or only small items like phones etc? Will be running off solar power.
G'day Charlotte,
The Dometic Sinepower MSI 412 Inverter is suitable although not the most efficient way of powering your fridge; 12v connection would be prefered. Make sure there is a battery inline with your solar panel to ensure that there is a constant power supply.
what kind of connection comes supplied for connecting it to the 12v supply
G'day Steffan,
The inverter comes with no connection method installed. In the box, there are 2 spade connectors with gap (fork) that need to be crimped onto the wires coming out of the inverter. Alternatively, you could add a connection type of your choice - Anderson plug, ring terminals etc - as given this inverter draws more than 30 amps, it is not suitable for cigarette lighter sockets to be fitted. Hope that helps mate :) Cheers
