A multi-award-winning design, the 30 Second Oztent RV1 Canvas Touring Tent is considered by many to be one of the best 2-person tents on the market. Designed with a smaller 1.6m long pack size, the RV1 will suit users with limited vehicle storage capacity.
The RV1 tent's patented internal aluminium frame enables one person to effortlessly assemble and disassemble the tent in less than 30 seconds. Twist and Lock telescopic poles are included to extend the awning which features a stiffener that makes rolling up the awning a one-person job. Side and rear windows feature super fine insect mesh as does the door, while the rear window can be guyed out to allow ventilation in all weather.
Made with nothing but quality components, the Oztent RV1 Tent features 8oz ripstop canvas, heavy-duty PVC flooring and guy ropes with built-in storage pockets.

I've had spinal surgery and need an easily erected tent for a mature woman traveling alone. I require minimal pegs to set up for a 1-2 night stay when on road trips. Hammering in pegs and then removing them would be problematic if the tent requires too many.
G'day Maureen,
If you don't use the front awning then you'd be looking at about 8 pegs at a minimum to ensure that the tent was secure with guy ropes in place. If you're also setting up the front awning that will add another two pegs for the guy ropes at the front of the awning. Hopefully that will suit your abilities.
Hi, I can't find any oztent double stretchers. Is there any other stretcher you'd recommend to go with this tent?
G'day Shirley,
A double stretcher will take up the whole sleeping area of the tent and would be very awkward to set up in the RV1. A single stretcher in any brand should fit - check out the dimensions of each of them and compare them to the 150L x 215W sleeping area of the RV1. You can find our range of Stretchers HERE.
Are the RV-4 Deluxe Side Panels compatible with the RV-1?
G'day Brom,
No, theyre not. The RV-1 Side Panels are specific to that model, and can be found here.
If you can how much extra room for clothes bags is there
G'day James,
Theoretically, you could put a double self-inflating mattress in the RV1 Tent but you wouldn't be able to fit anything else inside it. The back of the tent does slope down significantly so the canvas may touch on the mattress at the back. We'd suggest considering one of the larger models if there is going to be more than 1 person in the tent and you're wanting a bit of space for gear etc.
I’ve used a Zempire Monstamat Twin In an RV-1. It’s fits perfectly, though I would recommend using a Oztent Fly in wet conditions, as it will help keep the walls of the tent dry in case your bedding rubs up against it. I would also recommend front and side panels if you want to protect gear and have somewhere to change, as there is limited space inside the tent.
Really want one of these tents with the accessories if i can carrying on on my car
G'day Michael,
Yes, you should be able to carry the Oztent RV-1 on the roof racks of your Suzuki Swift. You'll need to make sure that the tent doesn't exceed the roof load rating though, so just make sure to double check that.
Hi there, I’m seriously considering the purchase of an Oztent RV1 however, with the recent release of the RX series, my only concern is missing out on any new features that may be implemented in an update to the RV series soon after my purchase. Are you able to say whether there are any updates planned for the RV series in the near future? Cheers
G'day Andrew,
We're not aware of any new model of the Oztent RV1 Canvas Touring Tent coming out any time soon. Sometimes it can be the safe often to go for the tried and tested model anyway. That way you know for sure there are no teething problems that you might experience with a new model.
What height will it be at front of awning when side panels are attached?
G’day Julie,
Yes they are indeed, you can have a look at them here (just select RV1 size from the dropdown). The awning on the RV1 is a little different to the 2,3,4, and 5 so it can be a little confusing.
So I’ve confirmed with Oztent on the phone, and the RV1 tent comes with 2 x 1.9m telescopic poles, and the RV1 Side Panels come with 2 x 2.2m poles – so the peak of the side awning is 2.2m high, and the front is 1.9m on the RV1 Tent.
We don't deal in accessories such as roof bars Drew, so I'm not going to be able to help much here sorry. I have not heard of the RV1 being used in such a way, but it appears some people are setting up their vehicles as such. I imagine you would need roof bars to support the weight of the tent and yourself, along with a large platform such as marine ply with attachment points to anchor the tent to. You would then need to consider how you set up the awning, possibly with extra long poles, or angled down from the top of the tent, and you may need to extend the length of all the guy ropes There is no 'off-the-shelf' solution to this though, you'll need to grab some tools and delve into a bit of DIY to make this happen I reckon.
You have a picture of this tent as a roof top tent - can it be used as both ground and roof top tent and if so what additions do you need to buy to be able to use it as roof top? Look forward to your reply
Hi Helen, there are no specific roof top accessories available. Basically all you need is a solid flat base on your roof racks. Ideally aluminium sheet or marine ply wood. You would then need to fit some attachment points on the base to replicate the tent being pegged to the ground.
What are the water head ratings of the tent and the floor?
