We missed out on getting a fly for our RV2. Is it possible to zip the RV3 fly to an RV2 tent?

OZtent RV 3 fly1 answer
We just purchased an OZtent RV3 plus. Noticed the fly sags a little in strong winds between the poles depending on wind direction. Can we use a spreader pole between these 2 fly poles to help support the fly and maybe stop it touching the tent?
Rob - Gold Coast, QLD(2 years ago)
G'day Rob,
Yep, absolutely - great solution. Oztent does have a separately available spreader bar here. Alternatively, any type of spreader bar should do the trick.

Attaching fly before setting up tent1 answer
I always struggle with attaching a fly even on a dome tent. Is it possible to attach the fly to the tent before assembly?
Toni - Kensington, SA(2 years ago)
G'day Toni,
Yes, absolutely! It's likely to be alot easier, especially if you're a bit vertically challenged! There's also no issue keeping the fly attached for set up and pack up, especially if you're using it all the time. It's really common, and alot of people leave it attached. Hope that helps!

Any way I can attach this fly on a Oztent swag 1 answer
As above
MJ - Tranmere, SA(3 years ago)
G'day MJ,
Not to our knowledge, it's designed specifically for the RV tent range. You may be able to come up with a DIY solution or hack, but I'd say that would take a fair bit of trial and error.

Flysheet sizing1 answer
I understand there is a flysheet for each size. But was wondering if the rv4 flysheet could work on the rv5 tent. Assuming it may be a little short in length, could you tell me the difference in measurements.
Emma - Brisbane, QLD (3 years ago)
G'day Emma,
Theres about a 25cm difference in width and depth with the fly sheet, which may not seem like much, but it is when using the two together. There's a couple of reasons, mainly being that the fly attaches via zip to one side, so will be even one side, short on the other. If you are wanting to use the fly to help limit condensation, there needs to be an air gap between the tent itself and the fly. This is done by using awning poles that fit into the fly and stand either side of the tent. I cant see a way that this will be achievable with the fly being so short on one side.
Ultimately, if you have the RV5 tent, you'll need the RV5 fly in order to get functionality and the best performance out of your setup.

Rv3 fly for the JV signature?1 answer
Does the Rv3 fly for the JV signature oztent?
Paul - Crafers West, SA (3 years ago)
G'day Paul,
I'm really sorry but we're not able to confirm this with any certainty as its been quite some time since we have the JV Signature in stock. From memory, the JV is only 2m wide, whereas the RV3 is 2.4m wide. Looking at the measurements, my best guess is that they aren't compatible.

rv fly1 answer
Would an rv5 fly work with an rv3 tent?
Andrew - Geraldton, WA (3 years ago)
G'day Andrew,
No, the RV5 fly is too wide for the RV3, so it won't attach to the tent properly. We'd recommend sticking to the RV3 Fly.

RV Fly fit Rv2?1 answer
Does the RV3 fly fit the RV2? Or is there a specific fly for the RV2?
Chris - Canning Vale, WA(4 years ago)
G'day Chris,
Unfortunately, the RV3 Fly will be too large for the RV2. There was previously an RV2 Fly available, however, the fly was discontinued when the tent was discontinued last year, so we're not longer able to get them sorry.

TAGALONG2 answers
Are these compatible with RV Tagalong tents?
Jim - 4017(4 years ago)
G'day Jim,
No, the RV Fly range is compatible with RV tents only. If you have a Tagalong you'll need a Tagalong Fly. Hope that helps.
Lauren - Snowys(4 years ago)
I have the RV 5 Plus and tagalong tent as well. Can definitely fit the fly on the tagalong tent as the plus model has the 2 zips on the awning. Attach the tagalong using bottom zip, then attach fly using top zip and job done.

What is the different measurement between an RV4 and RV3 fly please. RV3 1 answer
What is the different measurement between an RV3 and RV4 fly please.
Lyn - Victoria Point, QLD(4 years ago)
G'day Lyn,
I don't have one that we can physically get out and measure at the moment, but the RV3 fly is designed for the RV3 tent which is 2.0L x 2.4W m. The RV4 fly is designed for the RV4 tent which is 2.4L x 2.4W m.

Can you leave the fly zipped onto the tent when you pack the tent down?1 answer
Can you leave the fly zipped onto the tent when you pack the tent down?
Greg - Port Macquarie(4 years ago)
G'day Greg,
You can, however, it's not something we'd recommend as you'll struggle to get the tent back in the back, and you might accidentally pinch the fly in the frame.

Would this fly be compatible with the Oztent Oxley 7? 1 answer
We have the oztent canvas Oxley 7 tent. Would this fly be suitable for this tent?
Leah - Victor Harbor (5 years ago)
G'day Leah,
The RV fly is only designed to fit the RV models, so, unfortunately, it won't fit your Oxley 7 tent. The Oxley tent is supplied with a fly, and should always be set up with the fly on. If you've lost or damaged your fly then the best option might be to reach out to Oztent and see if they have a spare one you could purchase.

Compatibility 1 answer
Will this fit if I have the additional side awning erected
Tam - Mount Mee(5 years ago)
G'day Tam,
The Oztent RV Side Awning attaches to the side of the RV awning itself. The RV Fly attaches to the RV tent, above the doorway, so wont interfere with the awning at all.

Is this compatible with different Oztent awnings and tents?1 answer
I have a Foxwing Awning and I'm using a Tagalong with it. Is this Fly compatible to use with this set up? Ive seen information suggesting there may be an issue with zips s when trying to use the fly with other Tents and Awnings. Thanks for you time.
Bruce - East Keilor(6 years ago)
G'day Bruce,
The Oztent Fly itself has a double zip connection.
When using with your set up as above, the fly zips straight onto the Tagalong itself and the second zip is attached to the Foxwing awning. Both zips on the fly are up tight together, so the awning/tent connection isnt compromised through the fly connection.
The interaction of the OzTent range does vary depending on your set up, you can call anytime on 1300 914 007 if you have any further questions. we'd love to have a chat!

Will it fit the RX-51 answer
I am wondering if it will fit the RX-5, as I can not find a replacement fly for the RX-5.
Sean - Dunlop/Canberra(6 years ago)
G'day Sean,
I've rung Oztent to confirm this, and yes the flysheet from an RV-5 will fit the RX-5, it'll just be a different colour.

what is the difference between the silver and green version and the all grey version?1 answer
I noticed two different photos for this item , can you still get the all sliver?
Andrew Chiari - Mainbeach(7 years ago)
G'day Andrew,
I've just spoken with Oztent to confirm, and they've told me that the RV Fly is silver on the top, and green on the sides. It may look a little different in the lifestyle shots depending on the lighting perhaps, but it should look the way it does in the first image.

Re fly1 answer
Hi, would this fly zip on a oztent rv2 tagalong tent.
ken - Port macquarie(7 years ago)
G'day Ken,
Unfortunately the Oztent RV Fly is only desgned to work with the Oztent RV Tents but not with the Oztent Tagalong Tents. Oztent do make a Tagalong Fly (click here to view) but from my understanding Oztent are only making RV3,4 & 5 Tagalong Tents and Flys to match so you may want to double check the model of your tent before ordering anything.

Fly Fabric1 answer
Hi could you confirm for me the fly material, your website says polycotton canvas but the Oztent website says ripstop nylon? Many Thanks
Jason - Sorrento(7 years ago)
G'day Jason,
Our apologies, we have this wrong on our website. The Oztent Fly is made from a Silver Coated Rip-Stop Nylon. We'll look to change our details today.

Will this fly fit onto the zipper on an older Black Wolf branded Oz 30 Sec Tent?3 answers
We bought our tent when the Oz 30 sec tents first came out and is the original yellow and green canvas type. It measures 2.4m wide by 2m deep, so it's the dimensions of the current RV3. The tent has just started leaking and an inspection shows the seam taping has come away in spots where the back sloping wall meets the roof. As well as the words 'Oz Tent', '30 second tent' and the Black Wolf logo, the label near the front zipper says 'S5' (handwritten) and 'Discovery'.
Chrissy - SPRINGFIELD LAKES, QLD(9 years ago)
Hi Chrissy! We haven't seen the older version of the Oztent around for quite a while! I'm not sure if the fly will fit, it sounds like the size is right but I'm not sure if the zipper would have changed. I'll have to get in touch with Oztent and see what they can tell me. Leave it with me and I'll get back to you early in the week.
Lisa - Snowys(9 years ago)
Hi Chrissy, I've spoken with Oztent and they've confirmed that you will be able to use the RV3 Fly but the zipper is different. You'll need to take it to a canvas repairer who will be able to change the zip to fit the one you have on your tent. Oztent do have a repairer that they use in Brisbane, feel free to contact them directly to get those details.
Lisa - Snowys(9 years ago)
Hi Lisa....thank you so much for the prompt reply, much appreciated. Cheers, Chrissy
