Easily connect your Oztent to any fixed surface that has a sail track including caravans, campervans, four-wheel drives and horse floats with the RV Caravan Connector from Oztent.
One side has a sail track rope to slide into a sail track and the other has an auto-lock zipper so you can zip it onto the front of the awning.
This connector is also from the same durable
Hi. I see the RV 3 version of the caravan connector is on clearance and I'm wondering if this means a better model is about to land? I also wonder about the water and where it goes.
G'day Jodi,
No, theres not - Oztent are upgrading their packaging & product codes, but theres no change to the actual product.
I'm assuming you're talking about water when it rains? It will just run off the awning in whichever direction the slope is - if your awning is connected higher than the tent like in the product image, the water will run down and off the back of the tent.
Hey guys will this fit the darche 270
G'day Zach,
This wouldn't be the right fit for the Darche 270 Awning. The Awning has different-sized zips and lengths to connect to.
Hi, will sail track connector fit onto foxwing tapper wall for use on a van. What size will fit foxwing wall. Thank you.
G'day Pete,
It won't unfortunately. The orientation of the zip on the Foxwing walls is opposite to the Awning Connector, which means the only way you'd be able to connect it is with the wall 'upside down' exposing the waterproofing, etc which means it's likely to deteriorate alot quicker.
Hiya Is it compatible with the Oz tent side awning rv2, 3, 3, 5
G'day Matt,
The side awning is 190cm wide, the awning/sail track connector is 240-260cm wide depending on which size you go with.
Whilst the zips may connect, they won't line up size wise.
Hope that helps.
I have a spare Oztent fly. The zipper on the fly looks to be compatible with the zipper on the Awning connector.\ Is it? If so I can use it as a lightweight shelter to the side of my camper trailer which has an awing track on it
G'day Ted,
I'm assuming you are refering to the Oztent RV tent fly? If thats the case, then I've just done alittle bit of a brian dump working out all the zip orientations, and it wont work. The zipper on the fly and the zipper on the awning connector do not have the physical zip slidders on them, they only have the flat blank end that is designed to slide into the zipper on the phyical tent.
Will the Oztent RV3 Plus additional awning connect to the RV 3 Connector, the 2.4 end with Zipper.
G'day David,
There is no zipper on the front edge of the Zip-In Tarp Extension (assuming this the additional awning you're referring to?), so No, you won't be able to attach this to your Caravan using the connector.
Hi is there a connector for the new sv5 oztent
G'day Chris,
Theres not, I'm sorry. The only accessories available or compatible with the SV-5 are the walls, fly, awning extension & groundsheet.
It may be possible for you to have something made up custom, usually your local canvas/awning specialist has the ability to make something up.
Sorry to not be of more help.
Are you able to tell me the specs of the zip used on the caravan connector? E.g. is it a no.10 standard YKK zip. I'm looking to match this with an existing zip.
G'day David,
I've just jumped off the phone from Oztent. They've confirm they use a size 8 YKK zip on the RV range.
Hope that helps.
I am wondering what is the length of the largest size. I am looking for something to fill the gap between my 23zero Ospera awning and the car
G'day Craig,
It's 2.6m long - this is attached via zip and sail track, so not sure how compatible it will be with attachment to the Osprey.
It may need some modification to get it to work.
Hi does this work with the RV plus range of tent? thanks
G'day Matt,
We've spoken to Oztent on this one before, and apparently, all the RV5 accessories work with the RV5 Plus, with the exception of the awning walls.
Could you use this to attach an awning wall with zipper to a sail track ?🤔
G'day Cam,
That's a great question! In theory you could, however, every brand (and even different models within the same brand) will use different zips...its impossible to tell whether or not your awning wall would be compatible with the RV sail track connector.
Alot of people forget about the good ol' canvas and awning specialists, if you have one locally they'll probably be able to make a sail track zip connector that's perfect for you, or potentially modify this one if required.
Hi, watched the video. Great piece Of kit. My question is. I have a twenty year old caravan that was never fitted out with a roll out awning. I am looking for light alternative. The sail track, can you zip an awning sheet onto the connector and then have poles and guy ropes to make a soft light in weight awning? Will a side panel from the Oz tent zip onto the connector? If that is not possible is the material of the connector strong enough to have eyelets added to connect to a non zippered panel Which would then be raised to form an awning and again secured by poles an guy roles at the opp end? Sorry two long questions. Or is there is a product that you are aware of that might be more suitable?
G'day Shelia,
There's nothing off the shelf that will meet your needs unfortunately.
I'd probably recommend looking at getting something like a Slimline Side Awning and having it professionally mounted, or having a sail track installed on the side of your van, and having a custom canvas made up that will slide straight in.
Having a quick look at your location, Werribee Tarps would be the perfect place to contact for this. Canvas and Awning specialists do customer jobs all the time, and its the sure fire way to get exactly what you want!
Is the RV Sail Track Connector advertised compatible to my RV5 Plus tent?
G'day Chris,
Yes, the RV5 Caravan & Sail Track Connector can be used with the RV5 Plus Tent.
We bought the caravan connector for the RV5 to use with our Oztent RX5. I could not work out how to zip the caravan connector onto the RX5. It was like everything was upside down and the Zippers didn't line up
G'day Johann,
The Oztent RV Caravan & Sail Track Connector is not compatible with the RX Tent.
As the RX is a stand-alone model and is seperate from the RV series, it has different zip configurations.
Unfortunately, there is no sail track connector available for the RX tents.
Can this connector be used to connect the Oztent side awning to a sail track? I'd like to be able to connect the side awning to sail track on trailer, when not using it on tent.
G'day Jim,
Great question! In theory, it seems like it will work however, I've had a long chat with Oztent and they have actually never tried this so are not sure if it will work or not.
We have an ARB 2.5 Touring awning which has 2 x 7mm sail tracks - 1 inboard and 1 outboard for the ARB Deluxe room tent. It uses a sail track to zipper attachment on the out board sail track for the tent. We also have a LHS Rhino-rack batwing 270 awning and have just purchased the Oztent Foxwing Awning Extension - Series 2 to connect 2 walls to the batwing and it works well. However, we would like to be able to connect a foxwing wall to the ARB awning when not using the tent, but the ARB sail track zipper is not compatible with the foxwing zipper. My qusrions are: what size sail track is the RV5CC and will it zip to the foxwing awning wall?
G'day Robert,
Sorry it's taken a little while to get back to you on this one, it's not an overly straight forward question to be honest. Unfortunately this won't work for you based on the zipper locations for the various accessories. The awning walls you've got don't have zipper pulls, just the zip themselves. The caravan connector has a zipper pull on it (for a front wall attachment when used with the Oztent RV range), however the zipper pull is on the opposing side to the awning wall. Theoretically this could work if the caravan connector, or awning wall are attached upside down, but it's something we'd be comfortable recommending. The sail track on the RV5CC is 7mm. Hopefully this helps.
Just wondering if this can zip directly to tent or only to awning. as i want to conect it directly to my 4wd awning
G'day Phil,
The Caravan connector can only be attached directly from the sail track on your 4wd awning to the zip on the Awning of the RV tent. There is no zip on the RV tent for the connector to attach to.
I have an RV with a fiamma65 fitted awning that cannot be left out in the wind and the rain so I am looking for something like this so I can leave the sliding door open in wet weather. This product would do the job because it has eyelets for tent poles etc. However is there something similar which is a bit wider ie more cover from edge of van?
G'day Cilla,
The Rv Caravan connector is just the small piece that connects the awning from the RV tent directly to the sail track on your caravan. I'm not too sure what you're referring to in regard to eyelets for tent poles, as the eyelets are part of the tent awning itself. Maybe give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 if this doesn't make sense and we can chat through some options.
Can you still conect the front panel to the tent?
G'day Tim,
I've just double checked the zip tracker on the front of the RV tent awning and there is only one, so you'll only be able to attach the Caravan Connector, or the Front Wall, but not both.
But the video shows you connect the front panel to the zip on the caravan connector, doesn't it? So you can use both the connector and front panel, surely.
G'day Luke,
Thanks for getting in touch. Something that we didn't realise at the time we answered this question was that there were two zippers on the caravan connector itself. So to clarify, yes you can set up the caravan connector and front wall simultaneously as per the video Ben has recently filmed.
I have a sail track on the side of my Hiace van normally used for an awning, if I use this to connect an oztent instead, and put the side walls on the tent awning, will there be a gap between the walls and the van?
The caravan connector has about 30cm of fabric between the sail track connection and the zipper that connects to the awning, Phe. The side walls finish at this point too, so as long as you set the tent up so this is butt up against your van then you won't have many gaps, but you will have sealed the top gap from water ingress.
Internal size Erecting time Can you drive away if van attachment piece is taken off- will the tent still stand?
G'day Jackie,
You can leave the RV Caravan Connector attached but it will flap around if you go for a drive. The best option would be to detach the connector from your tent awning, slide the awning connector out of the sail track and then roll back and secure the tent awning.
Just wondering if you could use with Jayco Heritage caravan Thanks
G'day Bron,
The RV Caravan Connectors will connector to your van using the sail track so it shouldn't be a problem to use with your Jayco Heritage.
Are these caravan connectors compatible with the Eyre tents?
G'day Chris,
I've just called Oztent to check this for you because I didn't know. They've confirmed that you can use an Ozten RV Caravan Connector on your Oztent Eyre Tent.
Can you remove the awning on the rv5 and the connect it directly to a foxwing. I no the tagalong can but the rv5 tagalone would be to small 2.6 x 1.8 and the rv5 is 2.6 x 2.6
G'day Steve,
Unfortunately, the awning of the RV5 is stitched on so it's unable to be removed. To connect an RV5 to a Foxwing, you will need to use the awning and then an additional Oztent Awning Connector available here. Or as you've already pointed out, use the Tagalong which while unfortunately a little smaller, is better designed for your idea.
Hi Ben I have a JV signature edition tent and would like to connect it to the roll out awning of our caravan when we say for a while with the grandkids. Will this work and if so what size connector will I need.
Hi I have a tag a long tent rv3/4 can i connect this tent to the awning of my 4wd which has a sail track using the caravan connector , the awning i got is 2.5 meters wide. Will this work?
We've gotta come back and potentially correct ourselves here.
We are yet to physically try this but I think the direction of the zippers won't allow this to happen. The Tagalong is made to zip directly to the awning of an RV tent with the same zipper that the Caravan Connector joins. Flipping the Caravan Connector around to attach it to the Tagalong Tent means that the zipper will be starting on the opposite side/end.
We are yet to test this and will do once logistics allow, but in the meantime, we'd love to hear from anyone else who has tried to connect their Oztant Tagalong Tent to a 4WD awning with the Caravan Connector.
Can the caravan connector be connected to my Toyota Hi Ace van with the awning side walls attached? Do I need a roof rack for the rail? Many thanks Dave
Thanks for that. So I want to use just the awning connector and a tarp/cover to make a shaded area next to the car without the JV oztent. ....Do I detach the front awning (detachable?) from the JV oztent or buy another oztent awning for this purpose thanks MAnuel
hi there, can this be attached to a 4wd? We would like something that is stand alone so that we can pull up anywhere on the beach, put up a couple of poles and create a shaded area next top the car. We already have a JV signature oztent and if it connects with this then that is a binus, thanks Manny
Hi there. Might seem like a "duh!" question, but can you please tell me how this operates? Do you attached it to the van first, then zip on the tent, or somehow manoeuvre the whole thing into place onto the van? Also is there a bit of extra rope on each end to secure it to the van? thanks :-)
