The Darche Ridgedome is a no-compromise swag for those that simply want the best.
Is the tourer ridgedome swag from Darche the same as the ridgedome swag that you are advertising?
G'day Chris,
The Tourer Ridgedome and the Ridgedome are different swags! They are very similar in size and shape but the Ridgedome we sell has a thicker canvas fabric and floor, alloy 8mm poles and a Lifetime warranty.
Gday guys The small windows/vents on the side are they Velcro or zip shut can’t quite make it out from pics. Thanks
They just zip shut, Drew, the panel overlaps the mesh by about 10cm and zips to the bottom of the flap which then provides good weather protection.
I'm wondering if Snowys would regard the Ridgedome as a decent upgrade over a single swag Superdome (owned for 10yrs). I've found the Superdome a bit too small, especially around the foot area and can't help but feel claustrophobic in it. The alternative I am thinking about is the dusk till Dawn. I have a Darche XL100 stretcher the swag would be positioned on
G'day Jeremy,
The Superdome and the Ridgedome are essentially the same series or swag, however, the Ridgedome gives you a lot more internal space due to the different pole system.
The Dusk til Dawn swags are popular, but some people don't like the side sagging in a little. They are a great combination for stretchers though, as you can open up the side fully and get in and out easily, including also having more space to sit on the edge of your swag/stretcher.
The Ridgedome is a bit of a heavier duty option, and much like the Superdome has that extra bt or ruggedness/durability. If you don't mind the smaller doorway opening, this would also be a great choice.
Hope that gives you a bit to think about & helps with your choice.
Are they under full warranty for life time.
G'day Stephen,
You can read about all the ins and outs of the Darche warranty policy here.
Hey team, can you please tell me if the Ridgedome has buckles or D rings? Apart from the thicker canvas, warranty and zips on windows, is there anything else that makes this a better buy than the Dirty Dee 1100? Cheers
G'day Chris,
We don't currently have any stock to physically check this for you, but based on the information provided by Darche, the swag is secured using stainless steel D-rings. You've hit the nail on the head there in terms of differences, the thicker canvas is the main difference, but there are also minor differences on the external windows and the extended warranty. If you're a regular user we'd generally recommend the Ridgedome, if you're an occasional user then the Dirty Dee should do the job.
Do you rate the Darche ridge dome or Burke & wills Grampian as king dick of swags
G'day Rod,
The Grampian and Ridgedome are both great options, with the Grampian being a little wider and a slightly different design. Both swag feature a heavy-duty 16oz canvas, which is a little heftier than other models on the market. The Ridgedome has lots of great options for ventilation with the different flaps so you can have a little or a lot. The Grampian has fewer ventilation options, but it does have a slightly thicker mattress. Overall they're both great options, and it really comes down to personal preference here.
Which would you say is the better swag, ridge dome or the dusk to dawn
G'day Rod,
The Ridgedome has a heavier duty canvas than the dusk to dawn, and a slightly different design and size. Overall we find that the Dusk to Dawn model is a little more popular, partially due to the price point, but the Ridgedome is more popular amongst very regular users of their swag.
Are there eyelets in the opening flaps to make awnings
G'day Rod,
We don't currently have any stock to double-check this, but based on the images there are no eyelets in the side flaps, so they wouldn't easily be able to be used as mini awnings, however, you could put your own eyelets in if you wanted to.
i have this swag no eyelets for an awning
Is the fly mesh Midge proof?
G'day Ruben,
Darche doesn't use No-See-Um mesh so technically this mesh isn't completely midge proof, however, it is quite fine, so if you pair it with some good repellant you should be fine.
Love my ridge dome, But unfortunately I was careless and broke one of the arch poles. Do you sell replacement poles? Cheers
G'day Will,
At this stage, we don't range the Ridgedome Pole Sets, but you can purchase them directly from Darche here.
If I get this Ridgedome swag can it fit in carry bag Darche outbound 1100 or 1400 swag bag.
G'day Alex,
You can fit the Ridgedome in the Darche Outbound 1100 Swag Bag with no worries at all.
Hi Im wondering if the Ridgedome swag is midge proof.
G'day Jai,
The Darche Ridgedome Swag has superfine mesh but it's not specifically listed as Midge proof. We'd recommend checking out our blog about midges and taking some extra precautions.
I’m wondering where this Darche Ridgedome Swag is made from?
G'day Nathan,
The Darche Ridgedome Swags are made in China.
Will the Ridgedome Swag fit on the Darche XL100? Or is there a better fitting stretcher available?
G'day Anthony,
I've actually tried this out in the past for a customer and thought it wouldn't work as the swag is a bit wider. But it actually works a treat! The poles sit off the side of the stretcher a little but they don't really sag at all. The main body of the swag sits perfectly so you'd be fine with this combo.
Would the ridgedome fit in the Darche carry bag or is it better to use the one recommend in the answer above?
G'day Matt,
The Darche Outbound 1100 Swag Bag will fit the Darche Ridgedome Swag well.
How do I reduce the condensation in this swag? I have the foot end completely open and the head end half open and there is still so much condensation it is running down the inside walls. I am also freezing cold as my head and bedding is also wet.
G'day Emma,
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with condensation. The only suggestion I can think of at the moment is maybe trying a small fan in your swag. If the night is still and there isn't airflow, then having the swag open won't help too much because the air still can't move.
I am wondering if the Darche Ridgedome swag comes with a carry bag (for when its stored) ? Cheers
G'day Bruce,Â
The Darche Ridgedome Swag doesn't come with an included carry bag, but a good option would be something like the AOS Swag Bag Double - it's going to be a little roomy but it will accommodate the length of the swag when it's packed.Â
What is the rolled up lentgth of the swag - the specs say 1400mm, but that must the box?? I am torn between the ridgedome and the dusk to dawn - what difference does the different canvas's make? Thanks.
G’day George,
We don’t have one of these swags on display, and I wasn’t able to take this swag out of its box - but from measuring the size of the box, the Ridgedome measures approx 100cm long x 35cm wide x 35cm high.
Keep in mind that the size of the swag won’t be exact to those dimensions once it’s out of the box, as you probably won’t be able to roll it as tight as the factory.
As for the materials - canvas is going to be more breathable compared to synthetic fabric, and it has natural insulation which’ll keep you cool when it’s hot, and warm when it’s cool. Canvas is often more durable over time as well.
Polycotton is a mixture of synthetic and natural fibre, so you’ll get more resistance to mould/mildew as it’ll be a little more water resistant.
I’d say it would come down to personal preference, but if you’re willing to spend little bit more the canvas may be worth in the long run in terms of quality.
Is this type of the Swag available for two people (double)
G'day Boris,Â
I've just had a look through Darche's range and unfortunately the Ridgedome Swag only comes in one size - King Single.Â
Darche make some other styles in a double size, specifically the Dusk To Dawn 1400 and the Dirty Dee 1400 which are both also freestanding swags (like the Ridgedome) - so you might want to take a look at those if you're interested in a Darche model.
You can also check out the rest of the double sized swags in our range here to get a feel of what else is available.Â
Hey there, Does the Darche Ridgedome Dome Swag sleep two people?
