Cool down a small space such as your tent or motorhome on a warm and dry day with the Rechargeable Mini Evaporative Cooler from Companion.
Just add in water, turn it on, and the warm air will move through the unit, evaporating the water to blow out cooler air than what came in. It features fan and cooling functions, has an inbuilt battery, an 800ml water tank capacity and AC/DC charging options all packed into a compact unit that can go anywhere.
Rechargeable from both 12V DC and 240V AC, the Companion Rechargeable Mini Evaporative Cooler is ideal for summer camping.
Do you charge it and then it can be used unplugged from the charging source? Or does it have to connected to a power source to use it? Thank you
G'day Seonaid,
The unit is rechargeable via 12v or 240V, so you can charge it up and then use it away from a power source.
If I fully charge the battery a week before I need it, will the battery still be pretty much full or will it be reduced? What is the rate of drain when not in use? I appreciate this probably varies depending on the age of the battery and other variables.
G'day Martin,
Sorry mate but we're not sure exactly how fast the battery will drain when not in use. If you can't charge the unit shortly before you're going to use it I'd recommend disconnecting the battery terminals reduce any drain to an absolute minimum.
We have solar panels and an inverter giving 12 volts. I would like to be able to plug into the 12 volt power socket to run this overnight. Is this possible?
G'day Karyn,
The Companion Rechargeable Mini Evaporative Cooler comes with a 12V plug that you can use to run the cooler overnight.
Can I charge unit through 12v connection in van and how much drain on caravan battery which is charged with solar.
G'day Ann,
You can charge the Companion Rechargeable Mini Evaporative Cooler using 12v, so you'll be fine running it through your caravan. The battery on the cooler is a 6v battery with a 4.5Ah draw.
Is there any refund if I don't like the product?
G'day Ekta,
If you're not happy with something that you've purchased from Snowys, there is the option to return it within 60 days.
However, it has to be in as-new condition, so it must be unopened, unused and with all the labels attached.
You can check out the return policy in full on this page here. Hope that helps Ekta!
Does this unit work from a cigarette lighter plug and does it come with this attachment. Also can it run on a 240 volt supply?
Hey Peter,
The Companion Mini Evaporative Cooler comes with both a 240V AC and a 12V DC cigarette lighter adapters so you can run it from vehicle or wall power outlet.
our water container split need new one
G'day Les,Â
Good news is that water container is available as a spare part, but as Companion have just updated this Cooler we'll need to know which model you have.
Give our customer support team a call on 1300 914 007, and we'll be able to sort something out for you.Â
Thanks for previous replies. Can you tell me please, do you sell extra 6v batteries for the Companion. Does the one battery have "at least" 6 hours on low speed or is that maybe a little overstated as I have read. Thanks
We don't sorry Terry, they are not readily available 'off the shelf'. However, the battery is removable, so we would be able to get one as a spare part, or it is highly likely that somewhere like Battery World would have a suitable replacement. As for the run time, this is an average and can vary slightly. We have not tested the full run time, so if you have read experiences by others then this is probably a good indication. We are working on getting new images from our supplier and will have these uploaded as soon as we can.
Can a separate item be purchased that will cut out the Companion when the battery voltage falls below a certain level
Nothing I am aware of sorry Terry, at least not in our range anyway. It's probably a question for an auto electrician, sorry I could not be of much help.
I assume, when plugged into a caravan 12v socket the Companion will cut out when the voltage falls below say 10.5?
It doesn't have a cutout to save your battery sorry Terry, you'd be best using it on an auxiliary battery, or monitoring your battery during use. To give you some figures to work with, the built-in 6V battery is rated at 4.5Ah, which gives about 4 hours of run time on high. A larger battery would give a much longer run time.
I assume I can use the Companion - plugged into the caravan 12v socket and also use the battery for part of the night?
If the internal battery runs flat, you can run the Evaporative Cooler from a 12V cigarette socket or 240V outlet Terry, the only concern is that it will continue to drain the battery. It would depend on the size of your battery as to how long it would run. The built-in battery is 6V, 4.5ah, so a 12V car battery would provide a much longer run time. Just a heads up on this too, Companion have updated this Evaporative cooler, we have the current model in stock, but the images are still the old model, we are currently chasing up new images for this.Â
How long does the 800ml last and does it have an external water bag like i have seen on other camping air coolers
Hi Julieann, this cooler uses 50ml of water per hour, so the 800ml tank will last for 16 hours run time. The water tank is in the bottom of the unit, you can see it in the picture there :)Â
Have lost both power supplies and looking to re-purchase. Thanks
