Hi, Can we use this in electric oven ? What would be the highest temp it can handle in oven? Also, what about gas cook top?
G'day Mali,
Cast Iron cookwear is basically bomb proof, so you'll have no issues using this in an electric oven or a gas cooktop.
These are also able to be used in open campfires which often exceed temperature that a residential over can reach.
How does the top of the pizza heat up?
G'day Lee,
You can use this pan in any situation - oven, stove, open fire, etc.
Generally the pizza should cook fine as is, but if you are wanting to cook the top of the pizza like you would under a griller for example the only way you'd probably be able to do that is with a large camp oven lid loaded with coals. Its the only way i can think of that you'd get a heat source from above the pizza whilst camping.
I've never had any issues with the pizza cooking or heating up just using the pan as normal, and customer feedback suggests their experiences have been the same.
You just won't neccessarily get that brown toasted top look.
Would a second pan make a high enough lid to cover the Pizza to prevent ash/dirt
It would probaly work, Jem.
The whole pan is about 3cm high, which means you've got a little less than this of cooking depth, maybe 2.5cm, then another 2.5cm of space under the top pan. Dependant on what you've put on your pizza You may find that another pan on top will be touching the pizza toppings, but that's probaly better than dirt in your pizza.
is it flat with no surface curve /
G'day Kan,
This plate is flat with a slightly curved lip around the rim to hold your pizza in place.
This is probably a stupid question but do you have any idea of the maximum temperature in the oven you can heat this pan up to Thanks Billie
I wouldn't call it a stupid question, Billie, but it is certainly a question we can't answer.
Given cast iron is made from pig iron, which is produced by melting iron ore in a blast furnace at something like 900-1300 degrees celsius, I think you'd be pretty safe with just about any cooker available to the regular public.
The only thing you may want to consider is the seasoned cooking surface which may burn off in high temperatures, meaning you will need to re-season the pan.
Hi There. Can this double as a frying pan? Not sure what makes a pizza pan special. Many thanks
G'day Adrienne,
You could use the Pizza Pan as a frypan if you're cooking things that won't expel liquid. There isn't really much of a lip at the edges, it's quite flat, so if you were trying to cook a sauce, it would be tricky, but something like steak should be fine!
Hello, is the 35 cm measurement the internal pan size or the maximum outer pan diameter? If it is not the outer diameter, could you tell me what the outer pan diameter measurement is please? Thank you.
G'day Glenn,
Thanks for your enquiry. The Pyrolux Pyrocast Pizza Pan is 35cm in diameter, internally (where the pizza sits). The outer dimensions from handle to handle is 42.2cm in length.
