Water proof or resistant1 answer
Is it waterproof or at least resistant? I'm going on a kayak expedition so it needs to be somewhat able to survive.
Troy - Hahndorf(5 years ago)
G'day Troy,
Unfortunately, the Roman PWRGRID solar charger kit doesn't have a listed water repellency so we wouldn't be comfortable recommending it for a water-based activity. The Goal Zero Nomad 7 Plus, and the Goal Zero Nomad 14 Plus are both essentially waterproof - goal zero indicates the panel and housing is designed to withstand rain and snow, but the junction box should be kept dry. Overall the panels on most of the personal solar kits should be ok, as long as the junction box is kept dry.

Are you able to charge this via cable if sun is not an option? Or pre-charge it before caming?1 answer
Would like to charge this before going on a 22 day hike so I'm not relying entirely on the sun on the first few days
Pearl - Docklands(5 years ago)
G'day Pearl,
Just to clarify, this is a Solar Charger, so there is no battery to store power. The Solar panels capture light energy that can be pushed into a device or battery bank, however, it doesn't store power as there is no power bank. You could take a fully charged power bank/battery with you, and then use the panel to charge it as you hike.

Battery?1 answer
Hi. Do you have a battery storage device compatible with this solar charger kit?
Dawn - Coonabarabran(6 years ago)
There's nothing specific for this solar charger, Dawn, but you can charge any 5V USB power bank with this solar charger. Basically, the larger the battery, the longer it will take to charge, but a 20W panel should be adequate for most USB power banks.
