Is the top rim of plastic able to support the weight of the sink when full.1 answer
I'm designing a kitchen unit for my VW Multivan and was thinking of having 12mm ply with the center cut out so this would fit in it similar to a standard basin. Is the rim and material around the top strong and rigid enough to support this sink when full (ie potentially 15kg) If so what would the dimensions of the hole need to be?
Peter - 3620(5 years ago)
G'day Peter,
The top rim is fairly well bonded to the silicone, however they are really designed to be used on a table rather than hung by the rim. They can be picked up and temporarily moved once they're full of water, but we wouldn't suggest hanging it when it is full. We'd recommend a solid plastic tub instead to reduce the risk of the join between the silicone and rim tearing.

Can the top plastic rim hold the weight of the tub full of water if placed in an insert in a bench?1 answer
I'm building myself a slide out drawer kitchen. If i have a cut out in my slide out bench, does the rim of the tub have enough strength to hold the weight of the tub while its full of water without de-forming?
Kevin - Mackay(6 years ago)
G'day Kevin,
I tested the Dish Tray and Tub 15L overnight full of water hanging from some slats across the sink here and it held up fine so I would say you'll have no worries inserting it into the bench of your drawer kitchen

Does this pop up dish tray & tub able to fit pots & pans1 answer
Can you wash your average size pots & pans
Paul - FOREST HILL(7 years ago)
G'day Paul,
Tough to give you an answer with confidence when I can't be sure of exact pot sizes.
When 'popped out', the tub is 43.5L x 33.5W x 19.2H cm which will hopefully give you a rough idea of the size available.

Is there a trick to popping this down?1 answer
It seems to pop up easily enough, but I can only get it halfway down without it kind of getting mangled and not staying down
Michael - 3977(8 years ago)
G'day Michael,Â
I've just given it a go myself with the display models, and I found that after a few goes it did get a little easier to pop it back down and have it stay that way.
I wouldn't say that there was any specific trick, but perhaps putting an even amount of pressure using both hands so one side doesn't go down first might be the better way to do it.Â

Is there a trick to stopping the plug from leaking?1 answer
When we used it, there was some leaking around the plug.
Jonathon - NZ(8 years ago)
G'day Jonathon,Â
I've just tried pulling this plug out and putting it back in on the display model, and we didn't find that there was any trick to getting the plug in tightly. I also spoke with Companion they haven't got any inside info on this either.Â
I've noticed that you're located in New Zealand, so it may be difficult for you to show it to us in store so it may be an option to contact your local Companion brands supplier to see if they could offer some insight.

What does the under-side of this look like?1 answer
I'd like to see a picture of the bottom of this product. I'm mainly interested in attaching some kind of temp. piping/tube to the water outlet, so it can be stored in a different bucket.
Grant - Sydney(8 years ago)
G’day Grant, we’ve taken some photos of the underside of the Companion Pop Up Dish Tray and Tub (15L) and we’ve added them to the product description above. I hope these give you a good idea of what you’d like to achieve with the water outlet.

Is it possible to purchase another plug? Have lost mine unfortunately.4 answers
Julie - Nhulunbuy (9 years ago)
This might be a long shot Julie, I am following it up with our supplier and will get back to you on it.
Ben - Snowys(9 years ago)
Hi Julie, I received a reply from our supplier, and unfortunately spare plugs are not available. It may be worth looking in a hardware store for a generic sink plug that may be suitable. I'm sorry we could not be of much help.
Ben - Snowys(9 years ago)
Hi Ben, can you give me the exact diameter of the sink plug?
Julie - NHULUNBUY, NT(9 years ago)
I'd love to go and measure this for you Julie, but we are currently out of stock. If you have your sink handy I'd recommend measuring the diameter of the hole it fits in. From memory it slopes inwards towards the bottom, and it fits neatly in the space. There are multi-fit plugs available that will probably work, take the sink into your hardware and try a few to see if they fit. Let us know if you find something, I'm sure there will be other customers with misplaced plugs.
