Hi we had a much cheaper version of one of these, yes we are stupid. What we found when pouring some sometimes the heat of the pot caused the pot to collapse, making it dangerous. Ie boil the water wait 10 minutes boil again and try to pour and the pot collapses on itself. Do you know if this one does the same.?
Geoff - The Basin, VIC (7 months ago)
G'day Geoff,
I have checked with our warranties team and we've never heard of this happening with these Kettles. They are pretty sturdy when boiled and don't collapse on themselves. If you ever have any issues please don't hesitate to reach out to our team!

Taste1 answer
Hello, Does the boiled water have an a odd taste due to the silicon?
Angelo - Northgate(2 years ago)
G'day Angelo,
Most people haven't had any issues with this. Those few that have experienced the silicone taste/smell recommended boiling clean water with it a few times to eliminate the taste and smell.

240v pop up kettle1 answer
Dose this have a peak wattage? as I have a 1500w inverter or dose it stay around the 1100w
daniel amos - Langwarrin, VIC(2 years ago)
G'day Daniel,
The only information provided by the manufacturer is 900-1100W, so that's all we have to go off. It looks like your 1500W inverter will do the trick.

Pop up kettle (Billy)1 answer
Seems to have a plastic taste. Have boiled 3 kettle fulls and still seems to have the taste
James - Tanunda, SA(3 years ago)
G'day James,
Plastic water storage or water containers of any variety usually will have a taste to them for the first little while. That's just part and parcel of a plastic product, unfortunately. Rest assured it will go away with time, but to help that process along try cleaning with bicarb soda and lemon juice, it usually works a treat!

!000W inverter1 answer
Would this kettle work using a 1000Watt inverter?
Sue Marshall - Kenmore(5 years ago)
G'day Sue,
Great question, but the straight answer is no. The 900 - 1100w the kettle draws will most likely keep tripping or cutting out the 1000w inverter.

Can i run this on 12v with an inverter? If so do you have a recommended inverter?1 answer
Popup Billy 240V Kettle Inverter?
Tim - Glebe(6 years ago)
G'day Tim,
Theoretically, you can run the Billy 240V through a 12V inverter, however, the inverter will need to be able to handle 1100 watts. Generally, an inverter that can handle this would be approximately $400-$500. If you're after a 12V kettle we do sell the Dometic Perfect Kitchen 12V kettle.

Is the silicone definitely same for boiling water?1 answer
I'm concerned the body of the kettle ie silicone is unsafe for 100 degree boiling water? Are you sure no toxic material will leak out into the water?
Hannah - Chatswood(6 years ago)
G'day Hannah,
The food grade silicon in the pop-up kettles is a totally non-toxic material that won't leach into the water in the kettle at all. It'll handle the temperatures just fine. I have silicon baking trays at home that we use in our oven at well over 200 degrees with no problems at all.

How long does it take to boil a full kettle of water?1 answer
How long does it take to boil a full kettle of water?
Alyssa - Taigum(7 years ago)
G'day Alyssa,
I've just grabbed our display model. filled it with water and plugged it into the plug in our staff kitchen. It took 4:44 to boil from tap water temperature. It's a pretty warm day in Adelaide today, so in colder temperatures, it might take a little longer, conversely, in warmer weather it might boil a little quicker.

Collapsed down?

G'day Lorraine,Â
You may need to check the voltage of the country/countries that you are planning on visiting, and that you've got the appropriate adaptor - but aside from that you should be good to go!Â
