Setting up your campsite can be a little in-tents sometimes – but with the no-fuss Osprey Awning from 23 Zero, you’re sure to be cracking open a cold one under your canvas before sundown.
Owed to the free-standing nature and simplicity of its design, set-up and pack-down is simple and achievable for one person – so you can delegate more duties to the dawdlers! Constructed with black anodized aluminium and LST-coated, tear-check polycotton canvas, this awning is lightweight and sleek, but strong – so you can enjoy shade amid those gustier gales, and avoid breakage in the rough and rumble of the outback. Light Suppression Technology (LST) reduces visible light with all windows closed, allowing you to dim broad daylight or the break of dawn at your own discretion. The 270-degree design also allows shelter behind your vehicle for those balmy BBQs out the back.
From searing sun to relentless rain – spread yourself beneath the shelter from edge to edge like butter on bread, with a total of 7.5 square metres of awning coverage and up to 20.5 square metres with optional walls. With heat can also come humidity, so enable adequate airflow with the additional mesh windows, available with optional walls. In wet weather, make use of the tie-off points allowing valleys for water run-off, forward-facing zip protection flap preventing water access, and a fully enveloping PVC transit cover for storage. Thanks to the WP polyurethane coating too, enjoy its fast-drying feature and resistance to abrasion, UV and mould in all weather conditions.
The 23 Zero Osprey Awning is your shady companion, without the attitude. From heat to hail, bring it along to every outback escape or backroad adventure.
You told another customer, the walls are due in April -have you now received them - would you please let me know the price?
G'day Ben,
The Osprey Awning Wall Set isn't available with us just yet sorry, you can get them direct with 23 Zero here - 23 Zero Osprey 270 Wall Set for $379.95.
Hi, I have a 2011 Suzuki Jimny. Was wondering if this awning would fit it?
G'day Jessica,
Depends on your roof load rating (different from the roof rack rating), and whether or not you have 3 roof rails.
This awning requires 3 brackets to be fully installed, with no more than 60cm of unsecured length on either end.
If your roof and rack system is large enough to accommodate that, you should be fine!
Can this product be fitted to a 4wd with a hatch not side swing back door? Cheers
G'day Kate,
Generally, you won't be able to fully open the rear lift-back style doors with this awning. I have seen people modify the awning attachments to raise it up a little higher to provide some more clearance, however, the rear aluminium bar of the awning runs parallel to the rear of the vehicle so generally isn't compatible with lift-back style doors.
What is the maximum height that the poles extend to?
G'day Callum,
The maximum mounting height, and therefore pole height of the Osprey 270 is 2.3m.
Hope that helps!
Hey, Are you able to peg the poles into the ground?
G'day Nick,
You're not, no, but if you are setting all the guy ropes up like you're supposed to, it tnesion should hold the poles inplace fairly well. If you're worried about them slipping around in wind, etc consider something like the Supa Peg Pole Plates. They can be pegged down and will hold the pole base exactly where you want them.
Hello I have a the 23zero Saber RTT on top of a Ford Ranger Wildtrak. Can the awning be hung from the rtt rather than from the car roof rack?
You can't mount an awning to the rails on the Saber, Andrew, there is only one channel and it is not designed for an awning. You'll need to use brackets attached to your roof rack system for this. ~ Ben
Hi again Andrew, I have just noticed that 23Zero have a bracket specifically for this, we don't stock it and I did not know it existed until now, check it out here - https://23zero.com.au/product/saber-awning-mounting-bracket-offset/.
Hi, Does the included mounting bracket can mount direct to an ARB Base Rack?
I'm not overly familiar with the ARB Base Rack mounting system sorry, Hermie, it looks like it has a side mount dovetail system on the newest racks rather than channels. None of the awnings we sell come equipped with brackets specifically for this, so you'd probably need to find out if ARB has something suitable. ~ Ben
I can see from picture that the awning can be mounted on the left hand (passenger side) of vehicle. But is there a version suitable for mounting on the right-hand (driver's) side?
G'day Tristan,
No, there's no drivers side version of the Osprey awning.
The only option in this style of awning that may work for you is the Oztent Foxwing 270 - just select driver's side from the dropdown menu.
Hi, I have a freestyle ute (extracab) and small canopy on my tray. I've heard it's not recommended attaching 270 awning on both roof facks and last bracket on my canopy due to flexing. Would this be the same for this awning as it's lighter than the free standing ones?
G'day Mal,
It would be the case for any awning style that is too long to mount safely to just two roof racks.
Any essentially any awning that requires a third bracket, or requires attachment over both parts of you vehicle, won't be suitable for your setup.
The issue as you've mentioned is flexing, and the stress that places on any of your rack systems, the awning backing plate, and related fixings.
Some people in your situation have opted for a side pull out awning, and a rear 180 awning. Whilst it's not foolproof, it does provide a similar amount of coverage.
Is there dedicated walls for this awning or does it use the same walls as the falcon 270?
G'day Jordan,
There are dedicated walls specifically for the Osprey Awning, as the design is a little different to the Falcon. They've not yet landed in Australia, so we don't have them listed just yet. 23Zero has indicated they are due to arrive in April, so once we have all the details confirmed, we'll get them listed on the site.
Can you give some more details on the dimensions. What distance does the awning extend (perpendicular) from the side of the car? And likewise from the rear?
G'day Dan,
The Osprey is fairly new to us, so we are yet to have a schematic plan drawn up.
Each extrusion arm on the awning is approximately 2m long, so you can use this as a rough guide to work out how far the awning will extend out.
Can you confirm the type of mounting set-up the Osprey has (distance of tracks from each other)? Is it the same backing as the Falcon or the Raven?
G'day Jason,
Great question! I don't have the specifics on the Osprey but can confirm it's the same as the Falcon/Pergrine awnings, so the brackets, etc would be interchangeable.
The Raven has a different backing pate though, so has different brackets and fixings.
Hope that gives you the info you need!
How many mounting brackets does it require?
G'day Patrick,
They are supplied with 3 brackets, and mounting instructions. We'd recommend using all of the mounts to ensure a secure fit.
