Staff tip:It's best practice to season your swag a few times, even if it comes seam sealed, pre−seasoned, or waterproofed. For more info, check out our blog post below.
Looking at either option and can’t decide on which one to go with. I understand the nebula plus has the baggage area and the outbreak has the waterproof cover. If you could recommend one over the other that would be great.

G'day Luke,
We definitely can't recommend one over the other, it's very much a personal preference between 23Zero & Darche. The Nebula and Outbreak swags are both great options. They have a similar design and shape, with both brands being pretty popular. You'll sacrifice the included fly for the extra storage space with the Nebula Plus, but you could use something like the Oztrail Hiker Fly, etc if you want additional cover. Ultimately you'll want to have a fly of some kind over the colder months, as the extra layer significantly helps to reduce condensation, and of course helps keep the area dry if you set it up with the awning. The choice will come down to what's more important - extra storage space, or the tailor-made fly.

Stretcher 1 answer
Can you use this swag on a stretcher? Have they designed a stretcher for this swag?
Ben - Wesburn, VIC(1 year ago)
G'day Ben,
The Darche Nebula 1550 Swag fits nicely on the Darche XL 1400 Double Swag Stretcher and they've actually tested this combo. There will be a bit of overhang of the swag on each side since the stretcher is about 148cm wide while the Nebula measures around 150cm. The stretcher sits snugly underneath, and that overhang actually helps keep everything in place. Just make sure all the guy ropes are properly pegged out to ensure the swag stays nicely tensioned and stable on top of the stretcher.

Self inflating mat 1 answer
G'day recently purchased the nebula 1550 plus my wife was wondering if there is any self inflating mats that would fit this? I did explain that because of the design of the swag it would limit what you can fit in there and would probably have a gap around edge of swag to fit mattress without putting force on seams but she would like to know what assistance you could offer.
Tom - Mackay, QLD(1 year ago)
G'day Tom,
We get this question on the Nebula swags all the time and unfortunately, there isn't a suitable self-inflating solution. The only way a mattress could fit without putting strain on the canvas and damaging the mattress, is if it was 144cm or shorter....which is about the same height as my 10 year old.
We have asked Darche to consider making a self inflating mattress specifically for these swags through their KOZI brand, but there's not really any response to that at this stage. Some people have chosen to purchase an additional 70mm foam Nebula mat from Darche and have a double layered mat in there, but it will make the roll up abit harder, and you'll just end up with a larger pack size.

Zempire twin monstermat1 answer
Will the Zempire Monster May fit inside. Why cos we’re old and want to be comfy, the old nebula was not comfy in the slightest
James - Dromana, VIC(3 years ago)
G'day James,
The sleeping area shape of the Nebula 1550 is an elongated Octagon, the same as the normal Nebula, so standard rectangular double/queen mats won't fit. Any mattress longer than 144cm is going to have its corners folded up & in. This will put pressure on the swag wall and create rubbing points, as well causing potential pooling spots for condensation.

Size of storage section? 1 answer
Just wondering if you had the dimensions of the storage section. I have a 55 kg dog, I am after something that will shelter my partner, our dog and me. I thought that storage section might be a great dog only area but want to know if he will fit.
Stuart - St Ives, NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Stuart,
Great idea, he'll love it! At the mattress end or internal end its 115cm wide, tapering to 90cm wide on the external edge. The overal length is abut 100cm, so its a slightly off-kilter m², basically.

Fly2 answers
Does this version come with a fly like the old Nebula? Helps keep the sun off main advantage. If not can one be purchased separately?
Don - Aeroglen, QLD (3 years ago)
G'day Don,
No, it doesnt come with a fly & there isnt a specific Nebula fly currently available. You could try contacting Darche directly for a standard Nebula replacement fly - as far as we can tell, the original Nebula fly may be able to work - but we haven't yet tried it. https://darche.com.au/about-us/customer-service

I found out that whilst visiting the local Darche show room that there is a universal fly that they were testing and will be available around January to early February next year 2024 for under $200. They had it set up over a Nebula 1500 and it looked like a great proposition to me .
