Hi unfortunately I’ve just smashed my Leki makalu poles. Are these poles pictured with the new locking system as good as the older telescopic twist version. My poles were very light and strong. Taking a lot of weight going downhill. 1 answer
As above

G'day Barbara,
The Leki Speed Lock 2 is the strongest external locking mechanism on the market. The older twist style you've previously had are rated as having a slightly higher holding force, however, most poles now come with speed locks, as they're much easier to adjust the height.

Collapsed length1 answer
What is the collapsed length of the actual poles please? The 71cm quoted would include the packing. I would need it to fit in a suitcase for travel. Thank you.
Barbara - Tumby Bay(6 years ago)
G'day Barbara,
I've just measured the Makalu Trekking Poles and can confirm that the packed length of 71cm is correct, this does not include packaging. In order to fit the poles in your suitcase for travel, we'd suggest looking at a Z fold style pole. The Leki Micro Trail Pro Folding Poles, Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z Poles, or Distance Plus FLZ Poles could suit depending on the type of pole you're after.
