None of us here actually use the Hex Pegs, so don't have specific experience with them, but generally I think their appeal is for hard or compact ground where normal tent pegs cant be used.
Having said that though, the feedback on the pegs overall is great, and alot of people swear by them.  I can't see any reason why they couldn't be used on grassy areas aswell, and would be a great solution for mobility issues or people who dont want to be hammering in lots of pegs!

In order to fully set up a 6P Instant Up with one awning, you'd be looking at 16 pegs in total - this covers all tent guy ropes and ventilation gussets).

How many tent pegs do you actually use?  Not everyone uses all the peg points when setting up a tent, or the full amount of tent pegs provided. 
Its also a common choice to upgrade the guy rope pegs only, and keep the standard pegs for everything else.
We would recommend to count up how many you actually use, or how many you would like to upgrade, and get 5-6 extras as spares.
If you want to upgrade all of them you'd need between 20-30 as a standard, but some feedback from other customers has suggested they use alot more than 30 pegs for set up.
Also worth mentioning that these pegs wont fit for every peg point on the tent, as they are too thick for the eyelets.  They'll work for guy ropes and the elastic peg loops.

This peg is compatible with the current Coleman Gold series as they have webbing loops on the tent and elastic loops on the fly for the pegs to go through.
The eyelets of the Ground Mesh are too small, however, the original Coleman pegs will fit on this no problems. As you're just anchoring it in place on the floor, as opposed to being a structure like the tent, these pegs will do the trick.

The Key-Head Pegs are compatible with the Northstar Darkroom tents, however, the eyelets on a few of the peg points are too small to fit the key-head pegs through, so we'd recommend using the fabric loops instead in these spots.

The Supa Peg Key Head pegs are 8mm diameter and can be used with the Nomad 2 and Zeus tents. They're pretty heavy though, so if you plan to hike with the tent, these pegs will be a little on the weighty side.
