We haven't been able to double check the dimensions in store as yet, but dimensions provided to us from Coleman for the Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent are L:3.3m x W:2.7m with a 1.5m Vestibule.
Just because you like adventuring, doesn’t mean you want to get up at 5am. If you’re sick of the morning sun ruining your sleep ins, then Coleman have the answer for you. Their Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent has a special coating on the rainfly which blocks out 95% of light and reduces the heat in your tent by up to 5°.
Setting up this tent is easy - simply lay the tent down, spread the fabric out, extend the poles until they lock into place, then throw the fly over, peg it out - and you’re pretty much set! The front features a vestibule which helps add to your living space, and you can also pitch out the two-pole awning at the front of the tent for extra shade, plus there's a second door at the rear of the tent that can also be extended as an awning. You won’t lose your devices amongst the rest of your stash as the Instant Up Dark Room Tent features interior organisers and a storage hammock.
This tent features a durable polyoxford PVC floor for toughness, a 3000mm waterhead rated fly to keep off a drizzle and has ventilation covered thanks to the ultrafine mesh and the Coleman Circle Ventilation system.
Best of all, you can put the kids to bed early and have them out like a light, thanks to the dark interior. For lazier mornings, and peace and quiet at night – the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room is the tent you need.
Coleman easy up dark room 6 person tent what size ground sheet will fit in ultra mesh
G'day Ian,
The Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp 8 x 12ft (2.44 x 3.65m) will fit well under the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent with a small amount of tarp under the front awning. You could also go for the 10 x 16 foot (3.05 x 4.88m), which would need a slight fold along the sides, but cover you all the way under the front awning.
It's now marked as clearance but the price hasn't changed from the price it was previously?
G'day Hannah,
Sorry but we're no longer able to get our hands on this model, we only have the new Instant Up 6P Lighted Northstar Darkroom Tent for sale.
Can you just buy the fly
G'day Bob,
Unfortunately, replacement flys for the Instant Up Gold 6PV are not available for purchase separately.
Hi, I was just wondering if the flys for the windows have eyelets so if you wanted to you could attach guy ropes and peg them out?
G'day Erin,
I've just double checked and there are no eyelets in the windows, but there are small webbing loops that the guys ropes are attached to.
Hi can you give me the dimensions of the front vestibule? Seeing if I can fit a small table in there.
G'day John,
If you have a look at the floor plan for the Instant Up Gold 6PV you'll be able to see the front vestibule area. It is approximately 1.4m x 2.6m but narrows toward the front edge and the front angles down. You might be able to fit a small table but it would depend on the size of the table and where you planned to put it.
Is there a front and rear door for this model, or a front door only? Ta
G'day Anna,
The Instant-Up Gold PV Dark Room Tent has a front and a rear door.
Hi, Just wondering if a footprint or tarp is required underneath the tent (which is shown in the set up video) or is the floor fabric durable enough without one?
G'day Shinead,
You don't have to use a tarp underneath the Instant Up Gold 6PV but we'd generally recommend one to protect the base of the tent. The Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp 8 x 12ft (2.44 x 3.65m) will fit well with a small amount of tarp under the front awning. You could also go for the 10 x 16 foot (3.05 x 4.88m), which would need a slight fold along the sides, but cover you all the way under the front awning.
i am about to buy this tent ,just wondering is it enough for 2 adults & a kid. i am having a queen size self inflatable matt. it will be enough room for it or not ?
G'day Abhi,
You shouldn't run into any space issues with 2 adults and a kid sleeping inside the 6PV Dark Room. Coleman has this one listed as a 6 person tent, however, we recommend a capacity of 4 people for a more comfortable experience. That's 4 adults too! So with just 2 adults and a child, you'll have enough room to move around and store a bit of gear :) The actual dimensions for the sleeping area are 330cm Long x 260cm Wide. Without knowing exactly which queen size self-inflating mat you're using, it's hard to offer any absolute guarantee but if it's measurements are around that of the OZtrail Leisure Mat Queen at 195cm Long x 150cm Wide, you'll easily fit it inside with room to spare! Hope that helps :)
I am looking at this tent to go away to dog shows. Does coleman do a sunroom like oztrail does? I need this instant-up tent. I would like the additional sunroom for extra room for the dogs. The 10 man instant up is not an option due to the weight.
G'day Ally,
The Instant-Up Gold PV doesn't have a sunroom option, but the front vestibule area may have enough room for the dogs (obviously depending on the breed). The Oztrail Gazebos are a bit of a different design to this tent, but you can get lots of accessories for them that might give you space for the dogs.
Hi will 2 x oztrail ezyfold single jumbo stretchers fit in this size . Importantly will want the stretchers to run down length of tent away from doors not across tent / doors. One on each side of tent with space in the middle for dressing etc.
G'day Peter,
I've just had a look here and luckily we had a display model Instant Up Gold 6PV and an easy fold stretcher so I tried it out for you. Two will fit in either side from front to back and will give you room in the middle to get changed. There is also space between the end of the stretcher and tent for bags etc.
I'm wondering if single pole sections can be purchased and used for repairs if one were to break? Or is this a "Piece breaks, buy new tent" kind of thing? Also how long are the awning poles?
G'day Nate,
Replacement poles for the Gold 6PV are fairly easy for us to
Hello, recently bought this tent and ripped the fly screen with the zip getting stuck. Hole about 5cm. What is the best way to fix this?
G'day Kate,
Sorry to hear you've got some damage on the fly screen of your Gold 6PV tent. We'd recommend picking up a Nylon Tent Repair Kit. They come with a needle and thread so you can stitch in an appropriately sized patch.
Are there only 2 or a centre eyelet like the 4p gold?
G'day Erin,
I've just double checked and the Instant Up Gold 6PV only have two eyelets at either side, so they are slightly different to the Gold 4P.
It looks to be coming in through the seams possibly.
G'day Lisa-Maree,
We generally wouldn't expect the Instant Up Gold 6PV to leak as the seams are sealed. If you're having issues with your tent leaking our warranty department should be able to help you out. Please send us an email with some photos showing the leak to service@snowys.com.au, our warranties team will then be able to conduct an assessment for you.
Does this tent have a hook in ceiling for a lamp/tent fan?
Sure does, Siobhan, it has a plastic hook in the centre of the tent for your lantern or fan.
Would this tent be suitable for 4 adults on sleeping mats with any space left for gear?
G'day Andy,
The Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room tent would be pretty full with mattresses with a family of four. You would have around 60x330cm of space at the foot end for storage as well as walking through.
I want to carry the the tent on my roof rack tray. Is the carry bag weather/ water proof or do I need to cover it.. Thanks
G'day Gary,
The Instant-Up tent
How does this go in windy conditions? Any recommendations on minimising impact if you have to pitch the tent in a open area (eg around dams and no trees?) or do you have another recommendation similar size?
G'day Chris,
It's always a tough question to answer as conditions can be so varied when it comes to the weather. My best advice would be to try to avoid pitching your tent in very open areas, especially if you know the weather is going to pick up. Coleman is pretty confident these will handle wind reasonably well, but you'll definitely want to make sure all your guy ropes are pegged out securely. In fact, if you know you'll be encountering some foul weather there's nothing stopping you from adding more guys ropes on to the existing tabs so you can brace it from various angles. Have a look at the picture the most recent reviewer has put up on our site, its a great example of a well-pitched tent.
I can't think of a better, more versatile option at this price point than the Instant Up tents, but if you want to look at a few alternatives check out the Oztrail Tourer 9 Plus and the Oztrail Tourer 300. If you wanted to really blow the budget have a look at the Black Wolf Turbo tents!
Hi team, how doe these tents hold up to the hot Australia summer and cold winter nights. I like to camp all year round? Also with the dark room does it get hot inside the tent with early morning sun?
G'day Chad,
The
Could I ask what is the recommendation of tarp size for this tent?
G'day Julian,
The Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp 8 x 12ft (2.44 x 3.65m) will fit well under the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent with a small amount of tarp under the front awning. You could also go for the 10 x 16 foot (3.05 x 4.88m), which would need a slight fold along the sides, but cover you all the way under the front awning.
Can you enclose the front awning with a fly screen
Not unless you custom made something to enclose the area sorry John. There's no 'off the shelf' screen room for the awning of the Instant Up Gold Darkroom Tents, nor are there any specific provisions for attaching one.
Sorry, we can't help you here.
Hi there, we have a family of 4 and I was wondering if we would fit a Coleman All Terrain Queen Airbed & Oztrail Double Bunk Bed inside the Coleman 6PV dark room tent?
G'day Nick,
You should be able to fit your Airbed and Double Bunk inside a Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent but there won't be much room for anything else in there with you.
Hi, I have just purchased the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room and we will be headed out for our first camping trip this Easter, will report back on the tent when we get back! I would like to know which repair kits should I buy and keep handy just in case I need to patch any of the following : 1) tent 2) privacy mesh screen 3) fly 4) air bed
G'day Daniel,
You'd make a good scout with this sort of preparation! I would suggest that your best bet for repairing any issues you might have with the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent would be to grab a Coghlans Nylon Tent Repair Kit. It should get you out of any sticky situations you find yourself in.
Trying to buy a tarp to go with the tent so appreciate your help with the recommended size. Tks
G'day David,
You've got two main choices of tarp for your Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent. You can go for the 8 x 12 ft, which will be slightly too small on one side but cover most of the floor of your tent or the 12 x 12 ft, which will be slightly too big but can but folded away under your tent to stop any from coming out the sides.
Can you please confirm if 2 Queen size airbeds can fit inside this tent?
G'day Yoel,
I've just had a look downstairs at one of our Coleman Instant Up Gold Dark Room Tents and can confirm that you will be able to fit 2 queen size airbeds in there. You won't have room for much else in the tent with you though.
Can you purchase as a spare part the detachable awning from the standard Instant Up Gold 6PV Tent to use with the Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent?
G'day Marita,
We don't sell the detachable awnings for the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent as standard but can order one in for you if you'd like. Feel free to give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and our customer service ninjas can help you out.
Does Coleman make a 8 person in the dark room instant tent?
G'day Rae,
Unfortunately, Coleman don't make an 8 person Dark Room tent, no. They make them in the 4 person, 6 person, and the 10 person Northstar.
Can you please advise what gazebo fits this tent.
G'day Sharon,
Can you please explain what you mean by the gazebo fitting the tent?
There’s Velcro on the front area of tent that I believe is supposed to hook up to a gazebo coleman make
G'day Sharon,
The velcro along the bottom of the awning on the Instant Up tents is exclusive to the Gold Range. Unfortunately, there isn't a velcro strip on the bottom of the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent. If you had a 6 person one from the Gold Range, then the standard Coleman 3.0 gazebo would work a treat!
My apologies.. but isn't the Darkroom from the gold series? as is titled "Instant up gold"
G'day Brett,
You're spot on, the 6PV is part of the Gold series, but being a bit different from the rest of the range it does have a few features that aren't consistent with the others.
Hook and loop strip on awning for attaching to Coleman Deluxe Gazebos. Just confirming this is not right in the spec list? Thanks in advance
G'day Barney, Sharon and Brett,
Just to clear this up once and for all I've personally inspected a bunch of the Gold series tents! The Coleman Instant Up Gold 4/6 PV tents, as well as the rest of the Gold range, do have the velcro strips for attaching to your Coleman Gazebo. I'm not sure where Ben got his information from but I apologise for any inconvenience.
I want to replace the tent pegs to a better quality. I have yet to take my tent out of the box however want to purchase new pegs before I go camping. Can you suggest what pegs would be best for standard campground with compact soil. Also how many pegs will I need?
G'day Erin,
These 300 x 8 mm pegs should work fine. It looks to me that you'll need at least 16 pegs. Don't write of the Coleman pegs from the outset though - while not super durable, they can do the job.
I have the plain gold series which has the detatchable awning that can be fitted to either side. Does the darkroom series come with as well? I havent seen it any of the videos or pics.
G'day Daniel,
Unfortunately, Coleman hasn't included the detachable awning with the Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent. There is no word at this stage whether this is a feature they'll look to add or include in the future for the Dark Room options.
Hi, any update on the external dimensions question? Tks.
G'day Connor,
We haven't been able to double check the dimensions in store as yet, but dimensions provided to us from Coleman for the Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent are L:3.3m x W:2.7m with a 1.5m Vestibule.
Looking for a tent that I can sleep in a little later in, so this dark room tent fits the bill. However, since I will be camping in Queensland, I'm concerned about ventilation. How does this compare to say the Coleman Sundome?
G'day Siobhan,
While the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent doesn't offer a huge amount of ventilation, I'm not sure the Coleman Sundome would offer much more in comparison. Naturally, the Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent is a much higher quality tent and is certainly much more user-friendly. So far, the surprising feedback has been that the Darkroom tents are quite cool to what many have expected.
Thank you for your answer Ben. I have been currently tossing up between the Mohave 6 and this darkroom tent to buy for actual camping trips. I also wondered if you could recommend a tent that is particularly well ventilated? My kids and I would like to camp a bit in our backyard (just for the hell of it) but given Queensland is quite muggy and hot in summer, I think ventilation will be the number one consideration for the backyard tent. Do you have any suggestions?
G'day Siobhan,
If you're looking for a quality tent with great ventilation, my recommendation would be the Zempire Neo Range available here. While it doesn't have the 'instant up' functionality, you'll notice by even just looking at the images, that there is a huge amount of ventilation on offer, right across the different sizes. Zempire is a well designed and high-quality brand and has proven to be really popular over the past few years.
Can you confirm the packed dimensions of this tent are 112cm Length please. I was looking at the 6p gold without the darkroom but its packed size is 135cm Length. I would prefer something under 120cm but the shorter the better. I also noticed the 8p and 10p in the gold series without darkroom are listed at 119cm packed. Can you confirm those lengths too please.
G'day Melissa,
Sorry - we've made an error here. I've just physically double checked myself and the packed dimension for the Coleman Instant Up Gold 6PV Dark Room Tent is 135cm long.
I can also confirm that the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P and 10P Tent has a packed dimension of 119cm long. This is due to a different frame structure to 4P and 6P tents which allows it to be packed down smaller in length.
Do you know the external dimensions including the awning? I'm trying to decide what size tarp to get for under the tent and I'd like it to extend through the front vestibule. Cheers!
G'day Chris,
We're aiming to have the external dimensions for the new Instant Up Darkroom tents by the end of this week. As they're a brand new tent, we need to pull them out and set them up to confirm all the sizing that Coleman hasn't provided to us.
Hi there We're newbie campers so looking into what we need for a good camping experience. After watching your video, would you recommend an additional flooring tarp under this?
G'day Jack,
A groundsheet is always beneficial simply to assist with the protection and longevity of your tent. While not critical like other tents, it would certainly be worthwhile.
Apart from the specially coated fly, is there any other differences between this tent and the Gold Series?
G'day Ali,
Aside from the light blocking and heat reducing fly, the other difference between the Instant Up Gold Dark Room 6PV Tent and standard Instant Up Gold is that this tent has a front vestibule for added living space.
Is there going to be a 8pv or 10 pv tents?
G'day Mark,
Coleman currently don't have plans to release a Dark Room version of the 8P or 10P Instant Up models this season. However, they do already offer a 10P Northstar Darkroom which is quite similar is design.
