There’s nothing worse than fussing with poles and pegs when you’re dealing with a bunch of cold, hungry and Wi-Fi deprived campers after a 4-hour trip. With the Instant Up Silver 8P tent from Coleman, you'll have everyone warm and undercover in under 2 minutes.
All you have to do is lay the tent down, spread out the fabric, and extend the poles out until it locks into place. Then you can throw the waterproof fly over the top, so you can good night’s sleep knowing you won’t wake up to a soggy tent in the morning.
If the weather is warm the mesh windows will provide a nice airflow, while preventing condensation building up at night when you're all zipped up. With a roomy interior that can fit 2 queen air beds and enough room to stand up in you can really make this little space feel like home.
Can you suggest a groundsheet to use with this tent?
G'day Wendy,
The Instant Up 8P will work best with the Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp 8 x 16.
Hi, is it a dark room tent? Icon on the tent indicates so but its not mentioned under specs. Thank you.
G'day Gerly,
Thanks for your enquiry, however, the Coleman Instant Up 8P Tent is not apart of their darkroom range, I'm sorry. The darkroom technology is exclusive to the 4P, 6P and 10P size only.
Thank you. What does the latern icon on the tent stand for then? Is there any dark room and instant up 8p tents at all? Can be another brand.
G'day again Gerly,
The lantern is the Coleman logo, which you'll find that on all Coleman products and packaging. We don't stock any other darkroom tents in that size, I'm sorry. The closest would be the Coleman 6PV Dark Room tent but it does have a smaller sleeping area than the 8P obviously.
Coleman instant up 6p silver.
G'day Steven,
The Coleman Instant Up tents all use a 16mm awning pole.
I just bought this tent but I'm having trouble fitting the tent and fly back in the bag. A lot of pack down videos just show the tent pack down. Any tips for packing the tent and fly so it fits in the bag?
G'day Milly,
Leave the fly loosely on the tent. When disassembled, evenly space and distribute the material ensuring the length of the tent matches the length of the bag before commencing rolling. When rolling the tent up, use your knees to compress out any air as you go. A little practice and you'll do it easily.
Throw the fly on the floor of the tent before you put it down. That way you don’t have to worry about it. Squash the material as you roll. Takes a couple of goes but you’ll get the hang of it.
Does the divider divide the space into 2 or less on one side?
G'day Sandy,
The divider for the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P is equally through the middle of the tent.
Thanks,
G'day Yolanda,
Great news - 2x awning poles are included with the Coleman Instant Up 8P Tent.
how many doors does 8p instant up tent have
G'day Glenn,
The Coleman Instant Up 8P Tent only has the front door.
Hello, I'm curious to know if the internal dimensions are correct for this tent? 370x230 internal seems a very small difference to the 6P Instant Up Tent. Also, the space between the fly and internal tent seems large at 50cm difference between the lengths (I hope that makes sense). Thanks in advance
G'day Chris,
Thanks for your patience. The Coleman Instant Up 8P internal area is 410cm x 230cm. We'll look to update our website ASAP.
Hi, how sturdy is the floor, i saw a few reviews saying it tore easily. Looking at getting first tent for 1 adult 3 children need something easily set up and with a lil space for us all, dont wanna be cramped, also have a dog that may come along. do the poles for the front awning come with it as well? would hate to get it and have floor tear on first night
G’day Linda,
The Instant Up 8P tent is probably a good size for four people, as though it’s capacity is 8, our recommended comfort capacity is 4 people. I’ve just checked the bag, and it says that the Instant Up 8P comes with awning poles included with this tent.
As for the floor if you are worried about damage, we’d recommend using a tarp underneath to protect the underside of the tent and making sure that you pitch it on ground that's free of debris.
Alternatively, the Instant Up Gold 8P tent has a heavier duty Polyoxford PVC floor, and is the same size and set up as this tent – so this might be a good option to consider as it will offer more durability and a few extra features as well.
Definiately only meant for 4. We have self inflating queen at the back facing the front with a bit of room either side, 2 single air beds in the front piece, one on either side. Nice cap between the 2. Not much room for much else.
Does the instant up 8P come with the internal room divider
G'day Mel,
Yes the Instant Up 8 from Coleman does come with a room divider curtain - if you have a squiz at the 5th image linked in the description above - you can see what it'll look like in the tent.
What is the size when in bag ... your site says 120x28x28, but other sites say 140x28x28
G'day Caitlin,
Great question. For some reason, Coleman (and subsequently other retailers) list the packed dimensions for the Coleman Instant Up 8P as 140cm. However, we're constantly checking products and I've just double checked again and the actual dimensions are 120cm. We'll pass this onto Coleman again for them to fix.
Hi would this tent be ok for Uluru in June/July where night temps can get down to -4?
G'day Kerry,
I've just had a chat to our assistant manager who used to work in Uluru, and he says that it does get bitterly cold in the desert in winter, but there isn't much wind or any rain to contend with, so your sleeping gear is what needs to provide the most warmth.
You could get away with the Instant Up 8, as long as you use a thick insulated mat, thermals, a decent sleeping bag and/or doona and even a sleeping bag liner - as those bits of gear are going to be key to making sure you stay warm when the temperatures drop.
If you're willing to invest a little more you could go for a heavier duty tent such as a Turbo or an Instant Up Gold but your mat/sleeping bag are still going to be your main source of insulation.
If you're still unsure, feel free to give us a call and we'll be happy to help you find the right tent.
Hi, I have seen on a few other sites that the same tent is listed as being 120cm long (when in its carry bag) Can you please confirm if it is 120 or 140? Just wanting to double check before purchase that it will fit in our car. Thanks!
I've checked the packed dimensions of the tent and it is 120cm long so it looks like we've got a typo here! Thanks for pointing it out, I'll get it fixed! Sorry for the confusion.Â
I cannot find the coleman gold series instant up 8 person tent in your website. Do you have the this in stock? if not, can you order this to Coleman? If you can, may i know how much it cost? If you cannot, what is the option you have for 8 person instant up tent?
G'day Anjar,Â
I've just looked into this for you, and I've found that the Instant Up 8 Gold has been discontinued. If you want a 8 person tent that has a similar frame, there is this one which is a lighter and less heavy duty version of the gold series, or there is the Instant Up Gold 10P which is slightly larger.Â
Hi, in the video it shows the 6P tent with circular ventilation zips inside. Is the same feature on this 8P tent?
Hi Aaron,
The circular ventilation panels are a feature only in the Instant Up Gold Series tents. The Standard Instant Up tents do not have these panels, however they do have nice big windows so you should be able to get a nice air flow.Â
Could you please provide more detail on the length of warranty and what it covers. Will it cover wind damage like a torn sheet or a broken / bent pole?
G'day Roger,
The Instant Up 8P tent from Coleman has a 1-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects, but it won’t cover normal wear and tear or misuse of the tent – so storm damage isn’t covered.
But if you have any trouble at all, even after the one year period - just bring it back to us and we will sort if all out for you Roger.Â
Which is a better tent, this one or the oztrail fast frame cruiser? Thanks
G'day Jenny,
We find that the Instant Up range is very popular with those just starting out in camping – and that’s because they’re extremely easy to set up, and quite reliable. Â
The Fast Frame Tourer range is very new to us (we’ve only got the Fast Frame Tourer tents, not the Cruisers just to clarify) so we don’t have as much feedback on durability. It does have an easy to pitch frame, and the specs are quite similar to the Instant Up – but with that significant price difference, you can’t go past the Instant Ups for value for money.
As you’re new to camping, I’d say the safer bet is the Instant Up – they’re reliable, good value, and we get a lot of positive feedback on the range.Â
Is this the latest range from Coleman
G'day Getrude,Â
You betcha! This is indeed the latest model from the Instant Up Silver range from Coleman.Â
Not sure if the floor is waterproof. Will consider buying gold 8 person if there is one available.
Hi Nana,Â
The floor of the Coleman Instant Up Silver is most definitely made from a waterproof Polyethelene material. In general we do like to recommend using a tarp with all tents as it never hurts to have an extra layer of protection for your tent.Â
I've just checked with the stock manager, and he says taht we are actually expecting the Instant Up Gold 8P to arrive in our warehouse in in the next few days, so this tent will be available very soon.Â
If you like, you can give us a call on 1300 914 007 and ask to speak to our customer support team who can sort a phone order out for you in advance, otherwise we will be reactivating this product online as soon as it arrives.Â
Some people have told me to leave the fly on the tent when packing it away. I don't want to do this if it's going to ruin the tent. Should I take the fly off when packing away?
Hi Bec, we wouldn’t recommend keeping the fly on when you pack down the Instant Up 8P from Coleman because the knuckles on the frame of this tent fold up, so there’s a chance that the fly material may get caught and cause a bit of damage – which is the last thing you want! The Instant Up range super easy to put up and take down, so it won’t take you too much extra time at all.
Put the fly on the floor of the tent before you put it down. Keeps it out of the way.
Is there a room divider in the middle
G’day Marty, the Instant Up 8P Tent does indeed have a room divider, but it's more of a privacy screen as it doesn’t connect to the floor of the tent. If you want to see what it looks like pitched, the fifth image linked on the product description gives you a pretty good idea of what the divider looks like when you’re inside the tent.
G’day Shane, the Coleman Instant Up 8P tent has both mesh and solid panels (that can be zipped open or shut) on the door and windows. No-See-Um Mesh is Coleman’s term for tightly woven mesh that is breathable and will keep out insects. This term isn’t used in the latest information provided by the supplier, instead the Instant Up is described as having ‘ultra-fine’ mesh – but they are essentially the same thing. I’ve had a look at the tent myself, and the mesh is definitely fine enough to keep out mosquitoes while still providing plenty of airflow inside the tent.
Reviews for this tent indicate that the carry bag is extremely tight and it's impossible to put the tent back once it has been used. Does Coleman provide additional bags or are there additional bags we can buy? We are replacing our current tent that causes us great frustration with setting up and I'm hoping this tent won't cause us frustration from another angle - packing up and I'm happy to do whatever to avoid the possibility.
Hi Pina, I've packed up a few of these and had no problems fitting it back into its carry bag - and I'm a shocker when it comes to packing tents! Coleman don't supply tent bags on their own unfortunately. A double size swag bag could be an option, if you did want a slightly larger bag than what the tent comes in. If you pop the code 40759 into the search box at the top of our site you'll be able to have a look. I hope this helps! :)
I have this tent and I put it up and down on my own, including the fly. The tent bag is actually very large and I have never had a problem fitting it the bag. I just read the instructions the other week when camping and it actually says when packing away to place the fly inside the tent. It was a little harder to get in the bag but it still fit no problems.
The tent bag is actually really good. Once you’ve done it a couple of times you get the knack of how to put it in the bag. I’ve got the 4 and 8
what is the difference between Coleman Instant Up 8P Tent Snowys Code: 40738 and Coleman Instant Up 8P Tent - New Snowys Code: 47240 can only see extra floor dimension 430 compare to 420, is there anything else for the extra cost of $60
Hi PK, the New Instant Up 8P Tent are the same much loved and easy to use tents as before - they have just been given a colour update from Coleman.
