A spacious family tent with an instant pitch frame and three separate rooms with zippered dividers, the Coleman Instant Northstar 10P Cabin Tent comes ready to go straight out of the bag for a super quick 3 minute set up time

Complete with two bedrooms and a living area big enough to accommodate three queen airbeds, the Northstar 10 cabin tent offers welded floors and inverted seams, a 3000mm waterhead rating and RipStop fly material (able to withstand 100km per hour winds) making this tent a safe haven in bad weather.

With hardwearing 420D polyester materal and PVC flooring for durability, the Coleman Northstar 10 tent is exceptionally ventilated through a floor level vent and windows in the end bedrooms and central living area all with privacy screens. Versatile living with front and side entrances and a full side awning ensures a comfortable camp setup is possible just moments after arrival to your campsite.

It's hard to say if your tear will be covered by warranty or not. If it's something that has been torn due to a bit of rough handling during use then it won't be covered, but if it's something like a seam splitting then it might be. If you can email us some pictures of the issue we'll get our warranties team to take a look. Send the email to service@snowys.com.au and we'll follow it up for you.

Privacy screen within the room1 answer

Hi does the Northstar have a privacy screen WITHIN the sleeping rooms. I.e if we are in one room at one end and kids are in the room at the other end and my son is annoying my daughter can they put up a screen between them? It looks like you might be able to do this with the Montana but nit sure about the Northstar.

The Northstar tent doesn't have dividers in the bedrooms sorry mate. You might have to buy your lad a swag so you can kick him out if he's playing up!

I don't have exact dimensions for you sorry Chris, Coleman don't supply this information and while we have it on our "to measure" list, we have not gotten around to this one yet. I can ascertain pretty good measurements from the dimensions we do have though. The centre height is 2 metres and the height of the awning would be just under this at about 185 cm, and given the doorway becomes the awning, it would also come about 185 cm out form the tent. As for length, you're looking at about 4 metres between the sidewalls. I hope this helps, We'll have more detailed images in the hopefully not too distant future.

Hi - just checking if the dimensions on the layout picture need fixing? They don't seem right for a 10P tent. They list as 212x176 when I thought the tent was 600x230. Thanks.

Hi Sarah, You're quite correct! Thanks for pointing out the picture for us. Looks like someone uploaded the wrong image for the tent. If you go by the floor dimensions given under Specifications on the tent page, then you will be looking at the correct dimensions for the tent. It also gives you a breakdown of the room sizes. Durability of northstar 10p1 answer

Hi I have read a couple of reviews referring to the poles not being very durable in this tent. Have you heard of any problems with poles after multiple uses? Also would you go for this or outdoor connection Brampton. Is there much difference between the weight and size of the packed tent or durability? Cheers

Hi Amy, we have sold some replacement poles for this tent to replace damaged sections, but there are no persistent faults we are aware of and we sell it with confidence. The poles we have replaced were damaged in the course of bad weather, misuse or an accident, and are replaced easily and cheaply. Nothstar 10 or Brampton? Personally I like the Brampton, it has a durable feel and versatile set-up, but does not have the Instant Up feature of the Northstar. Brampton is heavier though and packs to a shorter, fatter shape, the poles also pack separately to the tent, you can see these measurements on our website. Both are good tents, I couldn't recommend one over the other in terms of quality and functionality. I'd go with the one with living features that are right for you.

Hi just curious as to the wear and tear or longevity of the pop mechanisms. have you had any customers having any problems with this? I have read a few reviews where this has caused problems after only a few uses. are they easily replaceable/ fixable? Also the same with the poles snapping easily. Is this just bad luck or are there issues?

Hi Kirsty, the only issues we have had with these appear to be due to poor handling and setting up of the tent. Whilst pitching, twisting of the poles especially at the knuckles should be avoided or minimised, and as with any tent, pitching it in full including all guy ropes almost always mitigates damage. This being said, the few that we have had issues with are easy to fix, and replacement pole parts are only about $20. We have no reason to say anything negative about this tent.

Can you define the "3000mm waterhead rating" on these types of tents? 1 answer

Hi Jeff. "Waterhead" or "Hydrostatic Head" indicates how waterproof a fabric is. It is measured by clamping a patch of the fabric to the bottom of a long tube. This tube is filled with water until the water starts to drip through the fabric, the height at which the water reaches before this happens is the "waterhead rating" of the fabric. As a guide, 1000mm will keep out light showers, 1500mm is adequate for all but the worst of conditions, 3000mm is probably overkill for family camping tents but instills confidence in the buyer. I hope this makes sense.

The Brampton by Outdoor Connection or The Northstar 10 by Coleman?1 answer

We are about to purchase our first tent and are finding the process very confusing! I've read so many great reviews on the Brampton tent by Outdoor Connection, but am looking at the Northstar 10 by Coleman for the convenience with the 2 minute step up and take down. I've read Outdoor Connection is better quality and great after purchase service, but once again the Coleman is so quick to put up and down! Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.

You've done your research Gill, there is not much more I can add to what you have come up with other than to say when purchased through us, customer service from either company won't be a problem, and quality of both brands is excellent.. The main deciding factor will be the quick set-up time of the Coleman Northstar. 3 minutes may be a stretch, especially for the first time, but it is certainly quicker than the Brampton. Personally I would spend my money on the Brampton, the fabrics feel durable and I don't mind the process of setting up the tent, and it offers versatile setup with awnings all round should you desire, you also get a little more internal space. I hope this helps with your decision.
