The Icon combines proximity, and distance modes plus red, green, and blue night vision options– to cover the full spectrum of illumination needs. Featuring one quad power spotlight and 1 DoublePower white LED which emit a huge 500 lumens on the maximum setting.
This headlamp is submersible down to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes and is also dustproof for added robustness. The three-level power meter will show you the remaining battery life for three seconds after switching on the headlamp and can be set to lock mode to prevent accidental battery drain. When not in use, you can remove the battery and stow it away in your pocket to conserve power.

Is the lamp able to tilt up and down on the Black Diamond Icon headlamp - especially for close work or reading.

I've just been on the shop floor having a play with one of the Black Diamond Ocon High Output Headlamps. They can be tilted, it clicks in to 5 distinct positions throughout the tilt spectrum and holds still in all 5 of those positions.

The Black Diamond Icon doesn't come with rechargeable batteries - they use AA batteries. Are you possibly thinking of the Black Diamond Revolt here?

Calculated time for 4xAA batteries at 500lumen is maximum possible 23hours or less.

Can you clarify what you are trying to say? I've just double checked both Black Diamond's website and packaging which says that the Black Diamond Icon can run for 175 hours on the low setting and 70 hours on the high setting.

Your understanding of batteries is clearly far more than mine and we appreciate your feedback on this.
I do know however that Black Diamond invest a huge amount into their product development and testing, which makes it one of the most reputable headlamp brands in the world. As it currently stands, we're yet to receive any negative feedback on the product use itself regarding poor battery life.
