MSR has redefined the benchmark for lightweight hiking tents with their two-person Hubba Hubba NX tent.
This tent has an inner made from high tenacity nylon fabrics, while the fly has an Xtreme Shield™ Waterproofing Coating which lasts up to 3 times longer than standard coatings, and resists fabric stickiness. The updated 2019 Easton Syclone aerospace composite all-in-one hub and pole system maximises interior space for plenty of head and elbow room, and are virtually indestructible for use in windy conditions.
Two large D-shaped StayDry™ entrances now feature built-in rain gutters to direct running water away from the vestibule. Adjustable end vents and multiple rainfly configurations optimise ventilation and include options to completely roll the fly back for a stargazer view on clear nights, or pitch in fast and light configuration with the optional groundsheet.
This tent also comes with adjustable stake out loops, lightweight reflective guy ropes and six MSR Needle stakes which ensures the MSR Hubba Hubba is pitched perfectly every time.

I have an old Hubba Hubba (yellow) which has been great but I've just discovered the fabric has gone tacky and translucent and probably not so waterproof. Is the new NX a different fabric that would avoid this problem?
Grahame - West Wollongong, NSW (3 years ago)
G'day Grahame,
I feel like the yellow models are old, from maybe around 10 years ago? I'd say if that's the case you've done a brilliant job having it last such a long time, so that's a testament to you! I'm not able to give a comparison on the fabrics I'm sorry, as Ive tried to find any info for the specifications of that model, and there's nothing left around after all that time. I'd say that 10 years is a pretty good run for such an ultralight tent, so the fact that is started to fail now isn't a problem with the fabric, it's just to be expected due to the age. The current tents have great feedback, and if you store the fly fully dry, and loosely stuffed in a mesh bag between trips instead of compressed and rolled up, there's no reason why you wouldn't get just as long out of it the next time round.

Tent Year Model1 answer
Hi, I just wanted to follow up and ask if you are able to tell me what year model you currently have in stock? Is this 2019 or 2020? And are are aware if the seams are with the new seal?
Kai - Hobart, TAS(3 years ago)
G'day Kai,
The current Hubba Hubba NX 2P is the 2021 model and this does have the "new" Extreme Shield seal. This has been the current fabric seal for at least 12 months. It does come with an additional sealer if you would also like to seam the seals specifically.

Is this freestanding? 1 answer
Sorry if this is a dumb question but is this tent free standing?
Sarah - MELBOURNE Australia (5 years ago)
G'day Sarah.
The MSR Hubba Hubba NX 2P Tent is classified as a free-standing tent.

Is the actual sleeping area 213cm long. 1 answer
I'm curious if it will fit my large sea to summit insulated sleeping mat which is 201cm long
Harmon - Marleston(5 years ago)
G'day Harmon,
I've just double-checked and the internal sleeping area is actually 200cm on the Hubba Hubba so we'll get that updated now. You should be able to fit your 201cm mat it will just press into the end wall a little bit, but given the gap between the inner and fly, we can't see it causing any issues.

Laugavegur trail1 answer
Hello, would this tent be suitable for the Laugavegur trail in Iceland end of August? Thanks
Christina - 2032(5 years ago)
G'day Christina,
It's hard to give you an exact answer here, from a little research it seems that the weather conditions in Iceland at the end of August can potentially have some light snowfall and can be a bit temperamental.
The Hubba NX is an excellent high-quality lightweight tent which will likely withstand a very small amount of snow, but it's definitely not designed for 4 season alpine conditions, which is something to keep in mind.
I did find a helpful blog which talks more about the conditions of this trail here and what tents are suitable. If you're unsure or want to consider more options, you can always give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and one of our hiking experts can talk you through the range.

Will the hubba hubba NX old version foot print fit this new model? I’m 1 answer
I have the footprint for the old version tent. Just wondering it if can be used on the new model
Dieter - Brisbane (6 years ago)
G'day Dieter,
As far as we're aware the Hubba Hubba NX 2P Tent will work with the older footprint. The dimensions of the new tent are the same, and the pole design appears to be the same so I can't see it being a problem. They have released a universal footprint with the 2019 model tents, but it appears to be almost identical in size. In short, we're pretty certain it will be fine.
